Well, Now Brett Kavanaugh Can Face His Accuser

@the_mother_thing , Google the Republicans remarks today. You can hear and see it all for yourself. I imagine you will agree with every word the same way you support the President no matter what lie or disgusting things he does or says.

I don’t have to google their comments; I heard them directly for myself. What was so bad about what they said? That’s the question. You’re the one who has a problem with “these people”; not me. And no, I don’t ‘support Chump’, but I support some of the things he is doing that happen to align with my beliefs & positions on things, not all of which are a mirror image with his actions, mind you.

Liars all of them!!!! Those guys are entitled white dudes I'm sure.
Well, I think one was a woman, so ... it’s gotta be for sure legitsky!

Common sense and about 25 other Yale graduates saying exactly that makes it pretty damn clear. Also, I can tell when people are lying. I have kids.:lol::lol:

@soxfan, We need to remember we are talking to people who support Trump and continue to do so after everything thing we have witnessed the past 21 months. These same people act like Trump’s presidency is no different from other republican presidents.

There are over 600 Law Professors across the country who have signed a document that Kavanaugh doesn’t have the temperament to be a Supreme Court Justice. They know he lied under oath.

The vote on Kav’s nomination hasn’t even happened yet, and this is already starting to feel like the morning after the 2016 election alllllllll over again.

2400 now. https://www.washingtonpost.com/educ...hearing/?noredirect=on&utm_term=.cfd7f77e7be2

And the idea that the "devils triangle" is a drinking game is a pure joke. It's false, plain and simple. Just like how "boofing" isn't farting.

We agree on something @the_mother_thing . Although I have to say today felt just as bad.

I feel as though this investigation was a complete sham. There were 8 people Dr. Ford asked them to interview. None were interviewed. They also didn’t interview those Debbie Ramirez ask them to inrterview. They did not interview the relevant people.

Nope. Actually I am glad that McConnell did what he did. Probably like anyone who was happy about the ACA. Garland did not have his name dragged through the mud for political purposes so it was not in the same stratosphere. He merely did not receive a hearing as Rs were in control of the Senate and made a political calculation.
Well, there you have it your true colors. Playing dirty is okay as long as it is your team. Your not really interested in whether or not he is a man of impeccable character and unquestionable ethics, only that he has similar ideology /agenda. As I am sure that you have read the American Bar association has rescinded their support. Former Justice Stevens came out with a statment that Kavanough should be disqualified for his hearing performance demonstrating political bias.

Merrick Garland absolutely had every right to a hearing on his legally appointed nomination. He was accused of nothing and was denied for political reasons.

Kettle meet pot!!!!!

True colors abound here. I am glad that Rs are finally standing up to Democrat BS that has been going on for years. Our republic is at stake.

ABA issue is not as you purport.

And others are angry at the ABA president for his letter.

Some men are pigs.
Some men are traitors.
Some men manage to be both a traitor who would conspire with a foreign government to make a mockery of our elections and then lie about it and at the same time they also are disgusting pigs who would mock a woman who was sexually assaulted.

Pig junior on instagram a classless act..... that apple did not fall far from the tree. What a sick jerk.
I will not shed a tear when the scumbag is sentenced. I hope they find every state crime he has comitted and make the terms consecutive.
What a tool

I think Donny Jr. is an idiot and a bully. And a coward, to me all trophy hunters are cowards.

IF Kav lied about the terms “Devil’s Triangle” and “boofing” (terms and activities I don’t recall ever being topics of discussion or ‘goals’ at any party I ever attended in the 80s even in some of the same areas discussed in this case, though lots of people - virgins included - bragged about doing things that everyone knew they didn’t), I will say this: I would honestly give anyone a pass on that, and to some degree thankfully under the circumstances.

How many people were watching that hearing - in person and on tv? Is there ANYONE who really would have relished hearing about a group of boys’ 30+ year old references to anal sex and wild threesomes being discussed in a public Senate Judiciary Committee hearing, much less any young people who happened to be watching or in earshot? Seriously? That is precisely why some parts of the hearing process are done in private, as this entire allegation situation should have been handled.

Perhaps topics like that are commonplace for some people’s households and family dinner conversations, but I sincerely doubt they’re commonplace for the majority. And I’m not being a prude when I say that - I’m thinking about people watching the hearings who might have young kids at home in ear shot of the television.

Everyone knows the devil's triangle does not refer to a drinking game. Not at that prep school, not anywhere. Just remember this. Republicans are telling you to not believe your eyes, your ears, or even the definition of words. Republicans, proud originators of "alternate facts". Me, I'm a simple person. I just call them what they are, lies. Why the defenders saying lying under oath is no biggie, I still haven't heard how that is justifiable. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.gq.com/story/all-of-brett-kavanaughs-lies/amp

The fact that discussion of a drinking game or lewd comments from someone's HS or college days is the cliffhanger on this is mind boggling. It truly displays that there is no bottom for dems.

If the Democrats re-take the house in November, the Ways and Means Committee have the legal authority to have the IRS provide them with the president's tax returns.

There is no point contributing energy to a thread such as this one. Use your time to phone bank, canvas, put up signs, and get the vote out.

In 2020 the individual states will redraw their congressional districts. Only once every 10 years does this process take place, based on current census data. In 2010, Republicans redrew the boundaries and gained control of 12 more state legislatures, ultimately taking over the house with a solid 234 to 201 majority. This was despite house Democratic candidates getting an extra 1.4 million votes (remind you of anything?)

Don't be misled by this frenzy of hatred. Do what needs to be done.

The problem is Kavanaugh lied under oath. You keep avoiding that fact.

No one cares that he drank beer in college or even high school. He certainly won’t be the first or last to do so.

Orrin Hatch is seen on video telling a group of Sexual Assault survivors to grow up today. What fine people these republicans are.

I don't remember if someone posted this here or if it was elsewhere, but I hope others find it useful. This site helps organize the left to flip swing districts: https://swingleft.org/

I can say with 100% certainty that I have never heard of those two references as they were noted in the yearbook, in the 80s or anytime since, and I didn’t exactly travel in the ‘purest’ of circles. :saint:

Just because those terms mean something to ‘you’, doesn’t mean they have the same meaning, interpretation or even awareness to someone/everyone else. Sorry!

His college roommate said Kavanaugh knew exactly what Devils Triangle meant. He had used the term and talked about it in front of the roommate. It was a phrase used often at Yale. I guess it really doesn’t matter if the term was used anywhere else since Kavanaugh attended Yale, where the term was well known.

All this uproar over a term apparently also used for threesomes ... THIS is what half of our country is losing sleep over.

God help us all!

All politics aside, why is no one bothered by the fact that men who come forward after sexual assault are not met with the same treatment as women who do.

No one called the men liars who came forward with allegations against priests for not remembering the exact date or who drove them there. No one blamed them for taking years to come forward.

No one accused the Penn state players of being pawns of rival teams out to sabotage Sandusky's career.

The double standard is sickening.

I’ve said the same thing your first paragraph says @Octo2005 . I’m also angered that men aren’t stepping forward and defending women. Do these same men not have wives and daughters they love. Have they ever asked themselves how they would feel if this happened to their loved ones.

The good ole boys club is alive and well in our country. Sickening

Please stop! Don't trivialize this. It goes to his credibility and you know that, but want to dismiss it.

You call yourself the_mother_thing so am I safe to say that you are a mother? What if Dr Ford was your daughter, is the way that she was treated (In her allegations and by the senate) okay with you?

Is the way that Kavanaugh behaved acceptable if these actions were against your daughter?

Would you be okay with your drunk son shoving his penis in someones face at a party?

His character and credibility have been questioned and it should be looked into thoroughly to get to the truth and leave no stone unturned. That is not possible to do in 3 days, especially when Dr Ford wasn't even questioned, not were her potential corroborating witnesses. The same goes for the other woman who made allegations.

Compared to someone actually being sexual assaulted (which, again, there’s zero evidence in this case someone was), I think a two-word euphemism is pretty ... well, trivial ... in the grand scheme of things.

If Ford were my daughter and/or Kav my son, I’d be very pissed off at how all of the allegations (especially given they were ALL uncorroborated) were handled by the very people elected to uphold the law & constitution, and for those very people not following the well-established procedures of their own committee for handling such sensitive matters. And I’d be calling for their resignations vs. rushing to blame an entire segment of the population who had nothing to do with the case at hand.

Everyone wants to give men grief for their behavior of ‘yesterday’ and in cases of actual rape/sexual assault, it’s much deserved. But you also need to acknowledge the reality and truth that a lot of these women today were not exactly innocent little feminists ‘yesterday’ either. There are some women who ‘yesterday’ were quite happy to be in the company of the very men they seem to loathe today (as evidenced by how much they continued to socialize with the very people they now protest) ... such as Swetnick who seems to have been a big fan of the alleged gang rape parties.

No one deserves to be assaulted or raped, but if these women in the Kav case didn’t have a problem with the alleged sexual behaviors of ‘yesterday’ when they were willing attendees at such parties and ‘games’, their sudden holier than thou attitude does not justify ruining someone’s life today because you had some sort of epiphany. If it does, then you have to afford men the same courtesy, that they too may have ‘grown up’ and grown out of their behavior of ‘yesterday’.

They cannot or are not able to talk to everyone are they? Trump put a stop to that. They didn't even talk to either Ford or Kavanaugh.. Crazy stuff here. Slanted and self serving.

You are not hearing me when I say, Kavanaugh is partisan and he said horrible things about democrats and total fabrication of a Clinton led retaliation, what was his proof? He is not fair he is an entitled hypocrite. He and Clarence Thomas.

I don't get what you mean about generalizing an entire segment of the population as scum comment, I never said you did.????

@Tekate

The difference between what I’m posting about the Ford/Kav situation and the discriminatory stereotypes you/Callie keep posting is that I’m sticking to the facts of THIS case, what THESE people (Ford/Kav) are saying/doing by their own words.

I’m not making it personal generalizing an entire segment of society as scum based on their gender or skin color. Just a smidge different, as I’m sure you’re savvy enough to understand.

I feel extremely cynical about the health of our political process at the current time. I'm done with this thread.

a lot of these women today were not exactly innocent little feminists

This is not the first time you wrote "feminist" preceded by a pejorative description. "Feminist" is not a dirty word. Usually only men call women "femi-nazis". Insecure men, that is.

I agree with your position as it relates to the sexual assault allegations, nothing was proven for or against.
so if you can't get the guy for sexual assault then put him away for drinking one too many beer? :wall:

Kavanaugh just released an Op-Ed letter saying he is “an independent, impartial judge”.

He didn’t act calm or impartial during his speech last Thursday. It was a written speech he wrote. Shouldn’t it have occurred to him how this sounded before reading it to the senators? He was out of control while on a job interview.

Even if your reputation is on the line, you don't get to yell and be aggressive when speaking to Senators at a hearing. He is not fit for a Supreme Court judge.
