Gorgeous! We''re also having a bagpiper for our wedding in August. Did you have him play your processional and recessional? If so, what tunes? Thanks!!

He played:

Processional - Moonstar for the bridesmaids, Highland Cathedral for the bridal march
Recessional - Mhairi''s Wedding

He was just going to do those plus a prelude and postlude, but the guests were enjoying him so much that we ended up having him play the border pipes (smaller pipes, more appropriate for indoors) inside for most of lunch.

We just found him online and decided to hire him, then at the reception the groomsmen figured out that they all knew his brother, who was the leader of the pipe band from which the one groomsmen borrowed a kilt. Crazy.

Sorry if i missed this somewhere, but where did you get married. Was your goal a bit of Scottish flair? I am Scottish, so I was just wondering. I really love that all the kilts were not the same. Very cool....

Flair -- I like that word.

We both have Scottish heritage and wanted to celebrate it. In addition to the kilts and piper, we also had thistle running throughout the flowers. There was a little bit in the bouquets -- but not enough to be harsh or compete with the delicate peonies -- and the corsages, plus the centerpieces were thistle. You can see some of the thistle in the ring pictures, and I''ve attached a (not very good) picture of the centerpieces.

The ceremony and reception were both at 2941 Restaurant in Falls Church, Virginia (just outside DC).

The venue is beautiful. I will be sure to pass this one onto my daughter. She may decide to marry in DC. Right now she''s working Chantilly.

Congrats on a successful wedding. The pics are great. (I liked how you blotted some of the faces out - witness protection, I guess!) Everything looks fantastic. I''m not sure I''d want the Dali statue in my wedding pics, but it''s impressive!

dmamsquared-- The venue was just wonderful to work with. We chose them because of their great food and of how beautiful the location was, but they went out of their way to make us happy and make everything run smoothly.

zdrastvootya -- Haha, I''m just not sure of what they''d think of having their pictures here so I just decided to play it safe.

I think that our coordinator was concerned about how we''d react to the statue but we thought it was great. It was also at the back of the patio, so it doesn''t show up in any of the more serious photographs.
