Gosh, what others do you have? Can we have a peek at your jewellery box?

Icy Jade, the thought of photographing and posting several pics is rather daunting. Takes many tries to get the pics right. I will try to wear different pieces and post on this page until I find sometime, ie next annual leave,, to do a group photography of them.In the meantime, I posted some pieces in 'show me your pearls' page.

YC -- beautiful necklace!

I don't often wear black, but when I do, this smaller strand of black baroque Tahitians fit the bill. Necklace of dark baroque Kamoka Tahitians (21 inches, 8-9mm pearls) from Kojima. Earrings are dark green Tahitians from Druzy Designs on Ebay. Wire wrapping done by yours truly.

Fly Girl -- That is so lovely!

Fly Girl, they are beautiful!

Thank you, bsomlo and jenncent. It seems that dark pearls are in this season. Here is the vendor photo. These look quite dark in most lighting. My photo shows a lot of light reflection.

Very pretty! I restrung my great grandmother's akoyas today. I shortened them to 17 1/2" because they were always too long at 20". They're so clean and new looking now. Pity I have to baby them. I'd wear them more often if I could.

bluebirrrd -- they are so sweet looking on you. You don't have to baby them. They're too short to knot (which is not recommended with akoyas), and since they were your grandmother's they probably have thicker nacre than today's akoyas. I gently wipe my pearls with a damp washcloth when I take them off to remove sweat and oil. I think that's the only "babying" required. Wear them and enjoy them!

Today is a light silver Tahitian stand day to drive away the Monday blues. Had this for years but hardly worn cos I used to feel it is too bling bling for work. Apart from the occasional engagement ring and wedding bands, most women at my workplace do not use much jewellery. Now that I am older, I can afford not to conform to their boring dress code and wear louder jewellery.
I love these cos they are drops and lustrous. These were also my wedding pearls. =)
Looks a bit orangey again. Will post another pic later

YC -- Beautiful! I love the length and size on you. As I age, I like bigger pearls. Much bigger pearls. You should wear those often!

(By the way, where I work absolutely no one wears pearls. I don't think I've seen them once in 8 years. I, however, wear them daily.)

Bsomio, thank you. I totally agree with bigger pearls as we age. My small pearls are now languishing in storage. They seem so small now whereas they were of reasonable size years ago. I hardly see people wear stunning pearls around me. Usually small white fwp, not that there is anything wrong with that, or faux.

Fly Girl your Kamokas are gorgeous! Love the dark pearls

bluebirrrd How sweet is your strand? It is SO pretty! I really need to make it a priority to get my Great-Grandmother's strand cleaned and restrung.

YC How lovely to get to wear your beautiful wedding pearls! I am with you...wear what you love :wink2:

Mmm... where do you work? Occasionally I do see some nice pearls, mostly when I am in the Raffles Place area.

I was told by a male colleague Raffles Place ladies dress very well. The same person also complains about the generally less than pleasing dress sense of those at my workplace  I am usually around Outram area.

LOL!!! Haha, I started my career in Raffles Place and did find that there is always a bit of peer pressure to dress better in RP. Anyway even on casual Fridays I wear pearls with jeans. Tahitians/ropes are so versatile that way. ;)) Maybe most people think that they are shiny odd shaped beads anyways.

P.S. Have to say that the majority of the office workers are usually not bedecked in gems. But there are always some ladies with TDF bling in RP - diamonds and other precious gems. I quite enjoy watching them when I spot them in the crowd. Actually, I know a few colleagues and ex-colleagues who are like that too. They work hard and enjoy their (dazzling) hobbies!

Thank you. They are two necklaces. One has very distinct barrel shape pearls. This out-of-focus picture was taken in 2008 when I bought them.

They go together so well! I love the double look.

HHPmom: Just simply...

Fw pearl drops with diamond studs. I prefer to put the drops in the back for less drooping.
