What are you wearing today?!

Those are gorgeous, HHPmom! Did you get them when PP had those amazing multicolor strands roughly 1.5 years ago?

Okay, I know this is a crap photo but this thread is so fun and I want to play. These are my circled tahitians that I purchased second hand from a lovely ps'er and restrung on power pro. They have noticeable color and I wear them more than any others.

HHPMom -- What are the mm size of the multi-color metallic pearls? Hopefully, they'll bring back more from Hong Kong. Enjoy!

bluebirrrd -- Can you take a close-up of the pearls so we can see their shape and color more? They have wonderful silver/torquoise coloring on my monitor --but I want to see more!

bluebrrrd-what a score! those colors are out of this world!

That sounds about right. It was the first batch of multicolor metallics described as 8-way rollers. The short pink strand was just from a small lot that Jeremy received shortly after with the 2nd batch I think. They are slightly off-round.

I am not at home so there is no caliper. With a ruler the multicolor is 7-8mm. I believe I checked with Jeremy and at the time he told me the 7-8mm had the best colors compared to the larger ones. I bought 2 strands but broke them up to make this 22" and a bracelet.

I'm wearing a couple of homemade pieces today. The pendant is a South Sea keshi from Agustus on eBay along with a pink Kasumi that I selected in person when I visited Sarah of Kojima pearls a couple of years ago. The iridescence on the Kasumi is so pretty. I assembled them with hardware from Michaels, although the pearls are worth designer treatment when I can afford it. I just wanted to wear them in the meantime. The strand is of inexpensive pinkish pearls from Pearllunar on eBay that I knotted myself. I don't worry about scratching these pearls on the metal necklace chain. Not shown are pink freshwater studs from Pearl Paradise.
This is in response to the note that it is 93 degrees back home. I'm on vacation in Cardiff, Wales. One reason I am wearing these pearls is my rule to not take pieces that cost more than $400 on travel. Happily, a lot of my pearl pieces make the cut.

Bluebirrrd, your tahitians are beautiful! You have a great eye!

HHPmom, how I would love to own metallics like yours! I hope PP gets them again, sigh.

Baby Nurse, fw is so abundance. PP will get more, if not now then later when harvests yield more pearls. Oops long strand is 24".

Bluebird, that necklace suits you well. Enjoy.

That explains it, Fly Girl. Hope you're having a great vacation! It's almost summer, get ready to bake when you come back! :sun:

They really were a lucky find. They have charcoal grey bodies with strong teal overtones. Hopefully this pic is better, but they really aren't green!

They look like a beautiful color. I can't believe the original owner didn't want it. Lucky you!!! And the skull...tee hee.

bluebirrrd your tahitians are absolutely GORGEOUS :appl: Love the skull/heart bead too.

These are the two longest sections of my 144" rope wound around my neck -- so about 10.5 feet of pearls. BTW, they hang differently every second since they move around with my motion. This is how they looked the second I took the shot:

Those look wonderful on you! Have you gotten used to wearing such a long rope?

Update: Although I really liked the look above, I found the pressure of the pearls against the area below my throat very unpleasant. I'm not sure what they were pushing on, but I decided to change the style. I took the longest strand and did my new double-and-twist action and wore it this way the rest of the work day:

(babynurse -- this answers your question!)

Well, it looks fabulous like that as well!

Bsomlo, I love them both ways. That is nice that you can get so many looks out of your rope. I wonder if the weight of the first look was pushing on a pressure point or something. Was that the first time you've had that happen?

It was weird because it wasn't "choking" me per se, it wasn't too tight -- it was putting pressure/weight on something below the throat I'm not able to pinpoint.

Does anyone know what the strands might have been lying on that would cause physical discomfort?

Okay, after a little research, maybe the pressure was on my thyroid gland.

Pity, because I liked the look...

This is a necklace that my late MIL gave to me decades ago. I've never liked it nor worn it -- but somehow today it seemed perfect with my yellow dress:

What are YOU wearing today?!

Yup, looks great together (and love that shade of yellow)! What kind of pearls are they and can you get a close-up, it's hard to make out what those little segments look like?

I believe these are "rice kripie pearls" and were given to me by my MIL in the mid-1980's in Oak Ridge, TN:

So that's what rice krispie pearls look like! From a distance, this strand has a very interesting pattern. You should definitely wear it!

Here are some pictures of what I had on today: pearl pendant from PP, earrings from PP, bracelet from Sarah at Kojima Pearl.

The pendant is an Edison pearl that I picked up in November from PP. It's about 16mm, not quite round, with a sharp luster and lots of purple and green. I love it and wear it a lot since it looks great with just about everything.

The earrings are baroque tahitians with strong peacock overtones, set in the yellow gold romantic setting from PP. I got them during the mother's day special-- I love these as well and get a ton of wear out of them.

The bracelet is made up of lavender baroque FWPs from Sarah at Kojima Pearl. I got this during her May sale and it's really lovely. It originally had a clasp but I asked her to make it into a stretch bracelet which she kindly did!

Here are some pictures of the Edison pearl.
