Tour, I believe I saw an episode of Bizarre Foods where Andrew went Down Under and sampled vegemite. If I remember correctly he said it is basically the scrapings off the bottom of a brewing vat. Yummy.

When mom went with Grampa and Gramma to Australia (way back in the day), they were at a restaurant for breakfast one morning and Grampa started smearing it on his toast-he thought it was apple butter or something. Mom''s like, uhhh I don''t think that''s what you think it is..he ate it tho. Mom said it reminded her of the liquid vitamin B I used to have to take. (and duh, you''d think Grampa would''ve known what it was-they used to spend 3 months down there every winter, for years and years!)

Mom and I''ll stick w/the violet crumble candy bars.

Oops, sorry it was vegemite-I forgot you guys were talking about marmite too. I''d never even heard of marmite until coming here-so it could''ve been that-I don''t think they''ve heard of it either! I would like to try these things just to say I had at least. Does it have a lot of vitamins like vegemite?

I''m a Bovril girl, so I''m not sure. Both Marmite and Vegemite are yeast extract spreads.

Marmite (in my humble opinion) tastes much better than vegemite lol its abit stronger but doesn''t seem to have that ''vege'' taste. A little goes a long way. My partner prefers vegemite but i''m a marmite girl. I think they both have B vitamins but don''t quote me on that.

If they are made of yeast they should be full of B vitamins. Like beer.

I hope Loriken doesn''t mind me answering for her but Odessa is a ways from Katy. About 500 miles away from Katy and approximately 400 miles from where I live. Quite a drive either way.

I think Marmite tastes a lot better than Vegemite too although I haven’t had any for many years.
