I bought this jar of jewelry in the antique mall for $4.00
I could see some good stuff in there, but because the jar has a pattern, it was a little hard to tell. The lid was taped up so I couldn't look inside.
But I took a gamble for $4.00. It was all blue and purple jewelry.

There was some cheap costume stuff, but also some gemstone strands.

Clockwise:
Tanzanite briolettes, pale amethyst faceted rectangles, a big fat amethyst pear, dyed freshwater pearls, and a strand of faceted amethyst and tumbled garnets with a sterling hook closure.



Guys, look at this amethyst pear.
26.5 carats.
The lady who runs that booth must've thought it was glass! It has some subtle zoning, but it's a really nice color and cut!

that amethyst looks very useful
the colour is lovely
and you get a jar if you feel like bottling (canning) peaches !

I always look carefully when I find these kinds of jewelry jars. But I certainly didn't expect to see a big amethyst in the bottom of this one! It's not even chipped.
Maybe I can make it into a pendant.

You must go to the thrift stores and see what you can find. Little independent ones are the best.
Consignment shops are good, too.
People sometimes don't know what they have, and they price things too low.

Those pear shaped and square beads look like unused semi-precious stones that are sold like that for jewellery making.

Yes, you are right. They are temporary strands. The fancier stone strands have tassels. I guess I should've explained in my earlier post. This is how they are sold in bead stores.
We have quite a few bead stores in my town, and I knew what they were when I opened the jar.

The pear shaped ones are tanzanite and the pale square ones are amethyst.
The dyed freshwater pearls are also on a temporary strand.
I'll have to cut them apart to create necklaces.

Awesome! I've seen those strands on Etsy, some are expensive, depending on what stones they are. Love them, you picked an awesome jar, can't wait to see your future creations.
Even the dyed freshies look good.
