Who wants to see my haul from today?

I bought this jar of jewelry in the antique mall for $4.00
I could see some good stuff in there, but because the jar has a pattern, it was a little hard to tell. The lid was taped up so I couldn't look inside.
But I took a gamble for $4.00. It was all blue and purple jewelry.

There was some cheap costume stuff, but also some gemstone strands.

Clockwise:
Tanzanite briolettes, pale amethyst faceted rectangles, a big fat amethyst pear, dyed freshwater pearls, and a strand of faceted amethyst and tumbled garnets with a sterling hook closure.

Guys, look at this amethyst pear.
26.5 carats.
The lady who runs that booth must've thought it was glass! It has some subtle zoning, but it's a really nice color and cut!

You are the queen of treasure findings

I always look carefully when I find these kinds of jewelry jars. But I certainly didn't expect to see a big amethyst in the bottom of this one! It's not even chipped.
Maybe I can make it into a pendant.

@stracci2000 I'm getting pretty sick & tired of your good luck! :lol-2: ( I'm kidding!I just might be a little jealous....)
That amethyst is crazy!

You must go to the thrift stores and see what you can find. Little independent ones are the best.
Consignment shops are good, too.
People sometimes don't know what they have, and they price things too low.

Scored with that Amethyst!

Those pear shaped and square beads look like unused semi-precious stones that are sold like that for jewellery making.
Wonder what they are.

Thanks for pointing this out, @Gloria27!

Yes, you are right. They are temporary strands. The fancier stone strands have tassels. I guess I should've explained in my earlier post. This is how they are sold in bead stores.
We have quite a few bead stores in my town, and I knew what they were when I opened the jar.

The pear shaped ones are tanzanite and the pale square ones are amethyst.
The dyed freshwater pearls are also on a temporary strand.
I'll have to cut them apart to create necklaces.

Awesome! I've seen those strands on Etsy, some are expensive, depending on what stones they are. Love them, you picked an awesome jar, can't wait to see your future creations.
Even the dyed freshies look good.

Went to a local thrift shop close to their closing time yesterday. Found a blouse that I just had to try on. It’s a good thing I did, because these were hanging in the dressing room:

Original oil/acrylics, signed by artist Catherine McAdams, only $4 each! True, they’re only 12” X 12” each, but still…! They’re wonderfully colorful and cheerful.

Oh, and I also got two Crystal Waterford wine glasses, $2 each. It was a very good day!

I love the paintings. Did you recognize the artist at the time? Or just buy them because you liked them?

Went to the NYC Spring Jewelry, Antique & Object Show yesterday and picked up another diamond & emerald brooch :kiss2:

It is an Art Deco 1.5" Platinum brooch with 2+ct of diamonds and 0.60ct of emeralds. I wasn't originally going to ask about it because I thought it would be out of budget, but my friend encouraged me to inquire and I couldn't resist when it wasn't -as bad- as I imagined.

There were so many other things I wanted to acquire, but I felt like I would probably wear this one the most out of them all!

Initially I was attracted to the paintings - they’re very eye-catching! I do realize they were probably not painted by an amateur but I didn’t recognize the artist. (She works out of Vancouver, BC and I found these in California.) But the artist had printed her name on the back of each painting, and someone had affixed a postcard advertising the artist in the back of each painting, so there was no guesswork involved!

There are three unique paintings, BTW. Apparently I still haven’t got the hang of attaching photos here!

Total score on those paintings!
How thrilling to find original art by a noted artist in a thrift store!
A great find:) :)

START THE CAR!!! So pretty!!!!

My latest beauty. I wanted to get a true antique one and this fits perfectly. 1890s. The seller believes it's burma and doesn't see any heating, but it's not certified so it was not a fortune. 20250408_122719.jpg20250408_122624.jpg20250408_122637.jpg20250408_092635.jpg
