Yellow Sapphire setting ideas

I would not think it would blend into thought hand with the mock ups you posted. I think a halo with larger stones (probably 3-3.5mm white sapphires) would help keep the budget down, as there would be fewer stones to set.

Aside from that, I would wholeheartedly agree with @icy_jade in that you could probably have looked for an existing mount instead of sending the sapphire to DK. I think you'd easily spend 10x what you paid for the sapphire if you're not careful...

You may be right I will speak to DK as to his opinion when he receives. I realise I will spend considerably more to set than I paid for it but I draw the line at x 10!

What about moissanite if going for a halo? It would be inexpensive, and be more sparkly than white sapphire.

I’m not fancying either of those options with a natural sapphire. I think the main cost incurred will be weight of gold and setting individual stones. Using a diamond substitute might only save me a couple hundred which wouldn’t be worth it IMO. But I could be wrong.

If you haven't already, maybe phrase your inquiry more like, "Here's my max budget but I'd prefer to keep costs down. Any cost-saving suggestions would be appreciated"? Idk PS. No I hear you and they are certainly not overly opinionated over there but I will ask for a couple of hand shots. I have a current quote for a halo for a much bigger stone (17 x 10 or something similar) so I am hoping this will be significantly cheaper might just have to be extremely thin pave!

Actually, I think (micro)thin pave might work really well here! It seems your other 2 halo-y ovals have more of a cluster look. So the design for this sapphire could be something new yet familiar to you.

I decided to go for a 3 stone with a double bezel. I just got the CAD through. Anyone see any improvements? I’m thinking it looks good (it would be truly amazing to not do any revisions which is why I am self doubting lol. Actually size is wrong I probably want to go up to 5.25l)

I know it might not save a lot, hopefully more than 200 but for the first time I tried lab diamonds on some of my rings from DK. I do like saving some money where I can and since these aren't large diamonds I am using, I honestly can't tell a difference but that's just me. I trust David to pick out what looks good and they always do!
I don't care what you pay for a stone, it's how much you love it that determines the setting to me. Your sapphire is beautiful!

Thanks Pepperminty it’s hard to know when it is sight unseen. Here is the photo of it next to the ruby which is not going to be set but will be kept as a reminder that good rubies are expensive! It looks very vivid here I’m not expecting that in the UK but it feels promising. Regarding the lab diamonds I don’t think I will for a small saving. I have no objection to lab stones but somehow I want everything to be lab if I’m doing that! Weird I know. I’m happy with the price that DK has given me. Would you believe such is the price of gold that platinum was only $100 more than 14k!

I have asked DK to slightly raise the angle on the diamonds and pull them out a bit, In Hindsight I’m not sure that’s possible without totally rejigging the design but hey I’ve sent the email now. It’s galling because I think the design is great however I just want that little bit of extra width.

Oh and to those who may have an opinion. DK has asked whether to do yellow gold around the sapphire, I had not mentioned which is interesting. I’ve asked to see a pic of the sapphire next to platinum and yellow gold so we shall see. What say you?
Edit - my instinct has just been platinum as I think it will set off the sapphire beautifully if it were darker or paler maybe the gold would look good. But of course I am now going off that photo I just posted which is probably not as vivid as irl.

yes. I hear you I think this sapphire is potentially quite different in tone to yours. Did you see the last picture? It is a lot more lemon than imagined though that may not be accurate not cool

We wear the same colors I think yellow adds a nice pop of color. I especially like it with grey. I never had made threads for them but I will post a couple of pictures so you can see them.
Yes! You post your amethyst ring! What makes you happy is what matters and we all have different tastes. I love that about Pricescope, we all embrace what makes the individual happy. It’s about them and their joy, not us. I have no doubt it will be beautiful!

I go little for expensive gems, but amethyst and blue topaz live to be big .
