We wear the same colors I think yellow adds a nice pop of color. I especially like it with grey. I never had made threads for them but I will post a couple of pictures so you can see them.
Yes! You post your amethyst ring! What makes you happy is what matters and we all have different tastes. I love that about Pricescope, we all embrace what makes the individual happy. It’s about them and their joy, not us. I have no doubt it will be beautiful!

Aww thank you that’s a nice way of putting it. Gorgeous rings, the first one is not dissimilar in style! It would seem we like similar proportions in our 3 stones! Would love to see your necklace as well!

I go little for expensive gems, but amethyst and blue topaz live to be big .

Yes I agree, I feel the same about peridot and some aquas and tourmaline as well. As amethyst is relatively cheap and I can get a ‘perfect’ stone why not follow my natural instinct for big!

I will peacechick, not least because there is definitely not enough amethyst on this forum. I can only think of 2 or 3 rings, a pendant and one ring in progress. I know it is relatively cheap and not everyone loves the purple but I do (and sadly a 5 carat purple sapphire was not in budget!)

Hello pricescopers, I have just bought this yellow sapphire, its definitely not a perfect stone, it’s got visible wisps on it.

However I love the colour and shape and the size is not bad and the inclusions don’t bother me for a fun right hand ring.
It measures 9.5 x 7.5
I do not want to spend a huge amount on setting it because it was a fairly inexpensive stone but I’m looking for ideas. Here are the two things I know I do want -
1. White gold
2. Larger setting
I absolutely love @Voldemort and @Niel yellow sapphires, the settings for both are stunning but I am not sure this stone deserves the expense of a halo, maybe a thin one? Perhaps a three stone might be better (and cheaper?), I prefer smaller proportions on my side stones so perhaps I could do smaller side stones and bezel them to add a bit of size although I would prefer prongs I think for the sapphire as every other ring I own bar one is bezelled and I want a change!
Has anyone got any amazing ideas? I am not tied to vintage or modern just open to ideas - just don’t go too mad on the diamonds as it’s not in the budget Oh and its already on its way to DK along with another stone I just bought which may not be a goer but we will leave that for another day!

I am not surprised it’s beautiful! Well for better or worse I am now going for a 3 stone. If it looks half as good as your ring I will be pleased!

I'm following because I didn't see this thread before and I just want to know how it turns out I love those blue yellow combos pictured btw. And for budget consciousness (in the future bc DK has this one already) have you ever worked with Dan M? I almost don't want him to know how reasonable he is...

Lol actually Mreader I am done with custom rings after this. I’ve found the whole process stressful particularly as I haven’t seen any of my stones. I have literally just signed off on this ring tonight. Here is the final cad, the only thing I requested to be changed was the tilt of the side diamonds which is good for me!


I’m waiting for DK to confirm a couple of things for my cushion and matching wrap and I’m sitting on my amethyst for a week or so because I’ve done myself up in knots!
I may do an eternity and a oec 7 stone but they will be fairly straight forward. I would like a couple of diamond necklaces which I will get DK to do but again they are simple. Everything else I will buy already made!
And as for the blue, maybe I will get a thin blue enamel band to wear with this

Three customs at the same time can be stressful! And I’m going down the same path. The Daniel M zircon was my first foray into custom. And so he has more pieces (recycle) and the DK ring was the second. But I have these loose stones I keep buying and needing to set!

I've been hesitant to use DK because I worry about his prices being unaffordable. Can someone give me a ballpark for a relatively simple halo or three-stone ring? I want to join the club!

Ok these are my best guesses...
Well I think the price of gold has driven things up.
Three stone ballpark would obviously depend on the size of the sidestones you want and overall size because of gold weight I would guess $1300-$2100 presuming you aren’t going huge on the sidestones. I am having platinum and am at the lower end of that scale. 14k White gold would have got me at the bottom of it.
Halo I think very much depends on the size of your stone and the size of the halo stones you are after. I think given your stone is large you would be looking at $1700 - $2500. The quote for my amethyst in my other thread which is huge is towards the upper end of it in 14k gold.
If you pop him an email with what you are after and the dimensions of your stone he will let you have a quote. He is very quick to get back to you and he will not be offended if you do not get back to him. I would just make it clear you are just after a price at this point

I doubt it will go significantly down. Well you can see my ballpark for my amethyst halo Art Deco style. Your 3 stone price is similar to my solitaire antique cushion setting which will have a raised (carved look) and engraved design. It’s about $100-200 more than my sapphire that he did about 3 years ago. My double diamond halo which is a fiddly design was around $1800 3 years ago. Both were pretty original to DK I would guess. I don’t think any of the three I am doing now are although I guess the gallery design in the amethyst and the engraving and raised design in the solitaire are added work.

Your amethyst is ginormous so I’m sure that contributes to cost.

Oh yes definitely size contributes lol it’s heavy and a lot to go round and I suspect the price is to go up when I make changes!
