Mandarine- Would you believe I''ve NEVER used powerpoint???? I have no idea how I escaped it, I was a communications major and it''s used in my job all the time. My DH does them constantly, but there''s always been someone else to do them so I never learned. Plus I''m on a Mac, not sure if that''s different. I will ask DH when he gets home to help.

China it is soooo easy to use if all you are doing is making a collage. Especially on a mac. It''s basically click and drop and that''s it.

Mandarine Sorry it took me so long-I just replied to your email!

China, wow, 40 weeks! You're almost there! I can understand the anxieties about labour. I'm anxious too and I'm only in the second tri.

vizla, you look good for 30 weeks!

Curious Question for the preggos: How are you handling sexual relations with the DHs/partners? Are you still having it? If so, how do you handle the growing belly? The last time DH and I were intimate (2 weeks ago) it was pretty uncomfortable and unwieldy. I'm not sure how intimate we'll continue to be...because I can see it getting more difficult as I get bigger - even though I know there's different positions we can try. I tried to initiate last night but DH wasn't up for it...
14.gif
so I think he thinks the whole thing is a bit more difficult now too. Just curious about others' experiences....how has it been for you?

Manderine and Viz, cute bellies!

very cute bellies ladies, love the collage mandarine!!

drk...like the others i would think you are fine. but i hear you being paranoid...and i don't even have a reason to... but i swear it seems like daily i am like 'whats going on in there?'... yesterday i had chronic dull aching pains all along lower pelvic area so of course i was like..what does this mean etc, turns out i am prob just having uterine stretching pains (i am just about 16 weeks). and then this morning i feel fine and i am SURE my belly shrank some. so then i am like 'omg what does that mean? is everything ok in there?' and thinking that the pains yest meant something else. seriously, the paranoia will wear on you. it will be so much easier when you can feel the baby moving and doing things i think...because then you can keep some sort of 'track' of activity. but until that point, honestly i feel sometimes like i am going crazy.

speaking of this... has anyone rented one of those dopplers to listen to the heartbeat at home? i was researching online yesterday after having freakout paranoia about my pains and asked my Dr about them. she said some moms love them because they bring peace of mind. there are a bunch of sites that sell/rent them but some say to get your dr's approval, my dr said i don't need it because it's not a covered benefit. so now i am confused. but most of the more expensive ones ($25 a month or so) say they can hear the heartbeat of the baby at 8-9 weeks. and the testimonials are glowing of course--everyone loves having the opp to hear the heartbeat almost whenever they want. and if i could hear it i wouldn't be freaking out every other day about whats going on. one of the ones that the dr's recommend is storkradio.com.

i went to target and got a super cheapie one ($20) but it says you have to be 21 weeks to hear it, it must not be powerful enough as the other ones that find the hb at 8 weeks. i could hear my heartbeat really well in my lower pelvic area, but nothing else. on a random note, is that what the nugget hears? it must be like 'this is boring..give me more gas bubbles!'...ahhahaa.

viz...we refer to ours as whatever the 'weekly update' was via email from baby center. this week it is an apple. so we call it apple all week. it's kinda fun.
5.gif
love the summer squash!

cello, congrats on a good scan and you are a great reminder how resilient the little peaches are.

re: constipation, the prenatals seem to help with that given the amt of iron they pump into you. i only take mine every other day and haven't had any issues with constipation really... but i do consume a lot of fiber in general. like fiber cereal and fiber one has some great toaster popup things for breakfast, also they have granola bars. you can eat almonds/nuts... and i hear that drinking prune juice is super helpful too. but the most important thing i think is drinking lots of liquids to help your body process the food and fiber you are eating.

Oh DrK and Viz...I almost forgot!....the one remedy that worked for my sister in both pregnancies was to have a kiwi in the morning before eating anything else!. 1 kiwi+1 glass of water and then your regular breakfast. She swears by it!!!!

Mara, I would think a doppler after 21 weeks is kind of useless since at that point you will be feeling the baby move so the paranoia goes WAY down!. I didn''t rent one because with twins it can freak you out more than help you! (since sometimes you can only hear one HB because they''re in synch, etc). My friend rented one and she loved being able to listen to the little one...she said it really helped ease her anxiety!

Mandy and Viz
Cute bellies as usual. Love your collage, Mandy. I just look back at my belly pics from last pregnancy, and I was so big by the end (I think remember being that big).

Mara
Ditto Mandarine on the ones that listen to hb at 20 weeks. You will be feeling those baby movements already. Since you are around 16 weeks, you can rent one for a month (before you know for you sure you are feeling the movements).

Sha
We were intimate up until labor the last pregnancy. DH just pushed up with his arm to avoid my belly, and that worked for you. You should definitely try different positions, if you want to continue the intimacy.

Here''s my contribution to BPF. Sorry for the bad quality. My bathroom gets no sunlight.

Fiery - Thanks for your input. Can I ask what dietary changes you''ve made? I think something else has to give here. I''m so jealous that things are moving better for you now! :)
DrK- I don’t eat anything “white” anymore…no white bread, rice, pasta, etc. Everything is whole wheat or whole grain now. I also stopped eating red meat. On the occasion that I do have a burger at a barbecue, I make sure to take miralax. I also drink an 8oz glass of Digestive Smart Plum juice. The juice is really sweet and tastes great and it helps you go to the restroom. I also drink Star Anise tea. The tea is caffeine free so its safe during pregnancy and it helps with your digestive system. You can sweeten it with honey although I drink it as is. I also eat a crapload (no pun intended) of oatmeal to help with my breastmilk supply but it also helps me digest.

I hope you feel better soon! Constipation sucks.

Mr. Fiery and I did not have any sexy time during 3rd trimester. He couldn''t get passed the moving baby and I wasn''t up for it. My belly would not have gotten in the way but I was just too exhausted and so not in the mood.

The "funny" thing is that once I had DD, maybe two days later he asked if I was up for some sexy time and I looked at him like he was crazy. Then I reminded him that we can''t have sex until my 6 week appointment. He almost fainted and has my dr. appt stored on the calendar on his phone lol

Re: "sexy time"- What works best for us is from behind lying on our sides or "doggy-style". Ugh, looks crass in writing, but point being, it''s easier not to have to maneuver around the belly. This discussion reminds me of that scene in Knocked Up where they were trying to figure it out! Too funny. How come they don''t put THIS in all those preggo books????
31.gif

RE: ''sexy time''.... The 2 best positions for DH and I are either me lying on my stomach, slightly tilted back with a pillow under me and him behind me....or the easiest MOST comfortable is me lying on my back w/my knees spread and him kneeling in front of me.

China, I hope baby makes an appearance on his own, but either way it''s super exciting that he''ll be here so soon!!!

Sha, I posted last week about how I had bleeding after intimacy which was a little scary, but I could tell that based on the awkwardness/different angle he was hitting my cervix (me on top but usually I lean forward and I can''t anymore). We''re going to try the positions China mentioned as those are the only ones I can think of where the belly wouldn''t get in the way and wouldn''t be too deep. I''m sure there are some exotic ones that would fit the bill too but this doesn''t seem to be the time to get too creative!

I will say that pregnancy has really killed my libido. I''m fine with that, as normally it''s very healthy, but I don''t want to lose the closeness or make DH go without for the duration so I''ve just been doing the best I can. I know someone who had a miscarriage in the early 2nd trimester who thought that *maybe* the big O had caused it, and I think that my subconscious tries to keep me as unexcited as possible so that won''t happen to me. Logically I know it''s safe if you have a normal risk pregnancy, but it kind of makes sense that the latent fear would affect me. Either that or my body is like, Excuse me Mr. Husband, but we''ve already got a baby in here, we don''t need to do any baby-making activities at the moment . . .

Ok, here are some nursery pics. For some reason, I am having a hard time getting good pictures in there. I need LovelyLulu or Ebree or someone to take some pics for me!

So we painted one wall dark blue, and the others a pale silvery blue. In some of the pics, the walls look white, but they are actually light blue. Some of the pics are taken before we put the decal on the dark blue wall. We have also put up an orange lion decal since then, over the crib, but I am not sure I like it there. I think it needs to go in the corner above the brown chair.

Some orange bookshelves to brighten it up:

Another one...

The Winnie the Pooh painting was done by my late aunt, and it was in my nursery when I was a baby.

And couldn''t resist- my dog''s new favorite place, he thinks the shag rug is for him.

China, LOVE it! It''s such a boy''s room
30.gif
Where did you find the decals?

Thanks MonkeyPie!

I got it at the website below, they have tons of cool ones. I stole the idea from a nursery that was on Ohdeedoh, and I think Mandarine suggested some other good websites awhile back that has decals so she may have some ideas.

http://www.whatisblik.com/

We also ordered this cute gray-blue elephant stool that will go in the corner b/w the chair and the closest. I think I need an ottoman or foot stool, but other than that, I think it''s done.

Mandarine- LOVED that nursery that you posted on your other thread. So light and sweet!

ChinaCat
Love the nursery. I really like the orange accent.

China-I luff the bebe''s room!!! SO kute! I also love your aunt''s painting!
12.gif
I also luff your doggie!

Ladies, I got a question. My doctor said it was okay to have a cup of coffee each day but to not over do it. Do any of you ladies drink any coffee?
3.gif

mt yes i drink coffee. you can have up to 200mg's a day (though i have seen some websites say up to 300 is fine)...and i think a cup of coffee (maybe like 5oz coffee 2 oz milk kinda thing?) is about 100 so that is not bad. you can look up official stats online. i used to drink a lot more but i cut back and now i hardly drink it because it is not worth making like 4 oz of coffee in the morning for myself!! sometimes i have to have a soda or an iced tea to get SOME caffeine in me at work but typically i have about 100mg a day.

funny thing is that my mom drank a LITER of COKE like every 2 days when she was preggo with me.
6.gif
sure this was 34 years ago but man. this is why i try not to get too paranoid about stuff like that. caffeine can cause uterine contractions so personally i think it's more like if you are risky and drinking a lot of caffeine it's a bad combo, but in general you should be fine. oh and interesting stat re: coffee is that espresso has less caffeine than drip.

China i love the room!!! we are going to be doing decals too, etsy has some great ones! i want to do a tree and some birds but i haven't gotten past that yet... i figure wait til we know the sex so we can plan more. is that shag rug from Pier1? we have the same runner in brown and portia totally adopted it as her own.

re: sexy time... personally i (and greg) are still waiting for the 2nd tri libido rush you supposedly get. the few times we have done it since we knew, honestly it feels a little weird. does anyone else think it feels weird as in odd? maybe because my uterus is still fairly low...but it really doesn't feel all that great. and i am a little paranoid, like surely that CAN'T be good for it??? and yes the scene from knocked up comes into our minds all the time, we are always joking about it. 'that can't be the first thing he wants to see right???' hahha. anyway like PG i am still trying to make the most of what is possible, but it def isn't quite as fun as before...
41.gif

oh and whoever was saying about 2 days after having the baby that the hub was like 'come on'...uhh yeah during my nausea my husband was the same way. i was like ARE YOU SERIOUS RIGHT NOW???? give me a bucket and a bat! MEN.

Mara-Thanks for the input! I felt guilty when my brother looked at me, serving myself a cup, and making a comment like, YOUR PREGNANT, DON"T DRINK THAT!!! I was like yea, you can but only a little bit. Still, I felt bad and threw it away. LOL... I need to drink coffee to give me a jumpstart, I feel like this bebe sucks the energy outta me. I tend to be spunky but I am more blah these days!

Re: Sex I feel like I want to be more active these days than before

, but then I guilty afterward because I have this little baby inside me growing and we are over here having, "fun." I know I am goofy but I always feel like we did something bad. LOL...

I don''t feel any discomfort because I am not that big yet. I am only 13 wks.

I love it! It''s perfect!. Now I wish I would have done one darker wall too!. My blue is also a silvery blue, very light....I love the look of the dark wall.
Love the orange accents, we''re definitely on the same page!!. You''ve inspired me to get my butt into gear and finish up some of the projects I have for the nursery!
