That's it, I am officially addicted to PS...I can't believe how often I go on-line and read through the threads. I am still a bit shy in writing a lot, but I just can't help myself

.

So glad it is Friday! Do any of you ladies have big plans for the weekend? I hope to see a lot of names crossed off the list by monday!

Melissasue- your dress is gawjus!

JCJD- I am so excited for you!

rfath- Love your ring- The setting is beautiful and the ring is so sparkly.

goldengirl- where did you go in New York? My bf and I are going at the end of the month and I haven't been since i was a kid, so excited though- I hope my bf understands a girls need to shop in NY, who am i kidding, we have been together almost 4 years, I think he knows my need to shop wherever!

Happy Friday everyone~

MrsFrk - LOL!!!! I didn't know they made a -4 size.... As mentioned before, I'm half Chinese, half Danish, so I've got short little stumpy Chinese legs (thanks Mom!!), and my paternal (Danish) grandmother's ghetto booty and non-bird-like frame (thanks Grandma!!)! God bless my college buds - they claim my figure looks more curvy, AKA feminine, than ghetto. "The way a woman's body is supposed to look" in the words of said friends
1.gif

Until clothing designers started making low-rise pants, I couldn't ever find pants that fit me both in my hips and waist because I'm pear-y. Melissa - I've got the opposite problem of you when it comes to finding dresses! They'll fit on top but restrict leg movement.
I agree MrsFrk - sizes are so variable that it just doesn't matter what number they put on the tag anymore. I've got some Abercrombie size 8 jeans that are loose and old Express size 14 jeans that are tight!
angryfire.gif
stupid sizes...

Melissa - Hmmm... the b/f job situation has gotten rather weird... Basically, the company had a hiring freeze until the beginning of this month, and they've recently had 4/6 employees quit all at the same time (not b/c the company sucks though, which is good). Plus, one of the two who were left went on vacay, so one guy has been handling everything! The guy on vacay is the one who would be hiring my boy, and although he's back now, the higher-ups haven't taken any action towards hiring new people because the higher-ups are going through a company reorganization with a temp manager in charge of it all. But, since they've just had a bunch of openings, they've got to hire somebody soon! WHEW!!! Hope that all made sense...
I really hope you're graduation from the club comes soon!!! Hmm.. we should figure this out now - who wants to be the next president of the ladies-in-waiting club??
9.gif

firerock - I don't know about me being off the list "REAL SOON"... esp with the weird no-job-yet situation. And I'll take that pink ring please. Size 4.5 ring size!

goldengirl - that does seem strange that the eternity band dropped in price so suddenly... I bet you could make a killing on ebay though!! $200 starting price for a diamond eternity ring, whoa nelly!! Then you could afford a NICE Jennifer-esque eternity set!!

From the waist up, I am bony as all get out. Waist down, a different story entirely. Ghetto booty is not meant to be pejorative. That's just what we call it in my house. My male friends tell me it's attractive, so I just go with it. I've run 4 marathons, and it's still there, so I don't think I have a choice in the matter!

Agreed. Sorry anybody who was offended at my use of "ghetto booty" in my previous post!! And as long as boys like it, well.... umm... let's not go there!

Hee hee - I'm a dork.

Actually, since dropping 13 lbs, my posterior isn't as large anymore. I guess I can't use "Baby Got Back" as my personal mantra/theme song anymore...

Who wants to do calculus homework for me? Any takers? Hello????? Anybody there??????????? (Back to school)

JCJD - Wait.. Am I president? lol.. Just cuz I make "the list"? I've never been president of anything before. hehe.. So it sort of sounds like he will probably get the job.. eventually? Or is that not how it is? I hope that he gets the job, and soon! My boyfriend doesn't have a job either. I hate that he doesn't work, but its so much easier because I get to see him whenever I am not working.. and his mom supports him anyway.. I know this is not good at all if we plan on getting married EVER.. because his mom can't give him an allowance for the rest of his life. I would like him to get a job so he could save up some money (While I can still go on crazy shopping spress.. lol).It is also easier so that when he yells at me for spending a zillion dollars on clothing, I can just tell him that he can't say anything because he doesn't have a JOB. But I also like him not having a job, because I can see him all the time.. SIGH..

Ivana- THanks for the compliment on my dress.. Although it is not technically mine at all.
1.gif
Its in a window in the mall. Maybe it will be mine someday, or maybe, my future mother in law will make me a perfect replica of the Melissa Sweet gown.. OR.. I could win the lottery and be able to AFFORD the Melissa Sweet gown..

Got to go.. the boy is here.

I have been following this thread for a while now...also very anxious to get my e-ring. I have to emphasize anxious! My bf went to pick up the e-ring last week from the jeweler. And to make the whole situation so much more frustrating...the lil ring box has been sitting in my room tempting me at all times.
rolleyes.gif
sad.gif

We both picked out the rock and setting, but for the final finished product, I decided to wait for the special moment to see the finished "bling."

So I have been DYING for him to finally pop the question...but I am so happy to have this place to resort to when I get the temptation to peek.

ivana--I was around Times Square, in the theatre and diamond districts.

Since I flew in at 8:30am and my flight out was at 9:30pm the same day, we didn't wander much beyond that area. We had a great time, though!

tulipcloud,

i must say... you have a lot of self-control. I would have asked him to hide that box so i wouldn't be seeing it. That is just pure torture! It's like putting a yummy chocolate cheesecake (or any yummy dessert) and says to me, don't eat it. The smell would drive me nuts! I SMELL DIAMONDS.......

My setting is made, i just need a radiant center rock!

Ok, ok, I'm just getting too antsy to post ANYTHING... So im just gonna do it. You guys must excuse my anxiousness! This lets me practice when i do get to post my e-ring in the near future (i hope).
9.gif
I also posted this in the u>COLORED STONES[/u].

ok, here i go....

Oh, that's cool! My mother would DIE for it, she just LOVES baguettes!!
1.gif

My mother absolutely LOVES baguettes as well. Fire - very pretty ring!

Trying to figure out how to post pictures without attaching... *sigh*

MoreCloseUp.sized.jpg

Hey everyone. I tried to post this morning, but my internet freaked out and said no psoting for me..

I agree that I would NOT have that sort of self-control that TulipCloud has. If it were in my house, I'd have to peek. There is this little box, that has been sitting on my boyfriend's nightstand, since right around the time I THOUGHT he would be getting my ring. It doesn't even look like a ring box. It is flatter and longer than a ring box and is made out of cardboard.. But the thought has been in my head that it was possibly my ring, and I've been dying to peek everytime I've been over there. I haven't brought myself to do it yet, and its probably NOTHING, but it just bothers me when ever I am in view of it. If it were here, in my house and I was ever ALONE with it though.. it would be a different story completely.

Rfath- Your Ring is absolutely beautiful!!!!!!!!! I love it!

Okay. Gotta run.. The boyfriend is here again.
1.gif

it's been murder waiting and waiting. It kils me, but I wanna be good so that when I see the e-ring finally, it will be a sweet surprise. As he puts it, "it won't be such a sweet story to tell the kids that your mom wrestled me for the ring." So I wait....
cry.gif

But hearing about everyone's story has been great therapy. To know that everyone else here is in a similar boat is very comforting.

But like everyone else...I can't wait to start planning and especially dress shopping! I do hope it's soon though, cuz I don't think I can take it much longer..and it's been 4 days already! argh!
errrr.gif

Hope everyone had a good weekend...did we get to cross off anyone from the list? and wish some congratulations??
appl.gif

Tullpcloud - haha the image of wrestling him for the ring is funny.. I may have to try that if he makes me wait much longer! We haven't heard any news from any girls from this weekend yet.. Someone HAS to be getting crossed off.. Although.. it IS a long weekend.. For everyone except ME who has to go to stupid school. Maybe tonite or tomorrow someone will have some news for us. You are one strong girl tulip.. I think if it were me, I'd take it out and wear it whenever he wasn't around.. LOL.. He never has to know!

I found out that the dress shop that has the dress I saw in the mall, I can just walk into whenever I want and try on the dress. I really want to go now..but I don't have much time this week. I know a lot of days the shop closes at 4 which is not very convienent. I have Thursday off, but I'm going bridesmaid dress shopping at stinky davids that day. i could probably squeeze it in though, although my mom says she wants to come with me, and that could be a problem. My boyfriend REALLY wants me to get the Melissa Sweet gown. And I say.. "It's $3000" and he says "So what?" and I say "I don't HAVE $3000, thats 1/3 of what my CAR is worth" and he says "So? We have credit cards.." I think he just wants me to be happy.. but its NOT realistic.. IS it? I think that up to $1000 is reasonable, but three times that? Not so much. And I know my mother doesn't like the idea of a $3000 gown either. I showed her an Alfred Angelo catalog (all under $700) and she was like "These are so pretty! They're probably just as nice as the expensive gowns" Problem is, i dont' LIKE any of the Alfred Angelo dresses really. Oh well.. we shall see.

Well, looks like I'm going to be here for a while yet
sad.gif
I asked my boyfriend this weekend if there was a problem with the ring, since it was supposed to be ready in mid-September. He said there was no problem... which actually made me feel worse, because if there is no problem then where is my ring?!
We had a long and emotional talk, and basically what came out of it was, he hadn't thought of a way of proposing that he thought was special enough, and didn't feel that he had to rush. I told him that I didn't want him to "rush" either, but that nearly a month of waiting (and it will be well OVER a month by the time he does do it... if not two months!) is in no way rushing it. I think once I explained how awful the wait has been, he's feeling the time pressure a little more now. But what I thought was going to be this weekend, or the next weekend at the VERY worst, will actually be much later... I'm just hoping it's before the end of October now.
sad.gif

Gah, ladies, looks like *I* might end up the president of the club! Through many conversations with the bf, I have determined that 1)his clutch takes precedence (I don't mind this) 2)a daily driver takes precedence (he's going to get a second, yes that's right, a SECOND car to drive around before an ering!) and 3)in no way, shape or form will he be proposing at or near the holidays.
sad.gif

Oh well, we HAVE only been together a year... I was just hoping we'd get to leave stinky Phoenix soon and I know we're not going anywhere until we're at LEAST engaged and probably close to married, and I was hoping to be able to move within the year. Sigh.
15.gif

As for dresses, I am JEALOUS of you girls who will get to go out and try on a million dresses! My mother has her heart set on making mine, so any trying-on I do will just be for an idea of my preferences.
1.gif
She's a really good seamstress though, and I'll be sure to get a fabulous gown that really flatters me at a quarter of the price of an off-the-rack.
9.gif

Melissa - I think that putting the list together qualifies you as President of the club! But maybe we should have a vote... Who should be prez now, and who should be prez next?
1.gif

I really hope my b/f does get that job soon.... It does seem like he's going to get it, but I have no idea when... I also like that I get to see him whenever I'm not working, but since I'm here from about 8-6ish every day, as long as he's got a 9-5 or so workday, that shouldn't change when he does get a job.
My kitties are both on antibiotics now
sad.gif
, and they were terrible about taking the pills until my b/f was there when I gave them their meds. And ever since then, they've been great!! They're also more cuddly when he's around, so I'm convinced they are in love with him too! I think part of it is that I'm stressed out most of the time (yay grad school), but he helps me to de-stress and not worry so much about school. So, when he's over, I'm more relaxed, and the girls pick up on that and relax too.
1.gif
Plus he plays with them more than I do.

tulipcloud - I don't know how you do it!! Do you think the ring is actually in the box, or he's just teasing you with the box being there? Good luck waiting!! And you can always come here to release that anxiety!
1.gif

firerock - I love your ring!!! Your emerald is so clear and pretty!!

ChooChoo - As much as it must suck to be waiting and waiting when you know it's in his possession, at least now you know that he's only waiting because he wants to make it special for you. We'll be here for you when you're stressing and need to vent!
1.gif
Best of luck.

Well ladies, there are trade-offs you need to accept when you get a ring for $3 at Claire's and then wear it every day! The little stone in my p-ring disappeared several days ago, and the metallic paint (or whatever) was wearing off on the inside of the ring (where it's facing my palm). The good news is, now the b/f has a ring to size when he's sizing the e-ring!!
2.gif
2.gif
So, to make myself not feel so naked without it, I went to Claire's and got a replacement p-ring for myself!! The b/f approves of it, which is good. I'm going to try to find a scanner sometime this afternoon so I can show it to you guys. It's very different from the original, but equally non-flashy and e-ring-like. What I can tell you now is it's a small size 5 (prob. 4.5 really), silver-colored, is kind of a Celtic twisted rope pattern, and has 3 little fake-stones on it.

JCJD
1.gif

Had to relay this funny story!!

I do a weekly Bible study with a group of girls who are all about 2 years younger than me. They all know about the b/f and the imminent engagement situation too. Well, I was sitting with one of them at church yesterday, and in the middle of the sermon, she reaches over and grabs my hand (with the new p-ring on it)!! She said it sparkled at her and she needed to make sure it wasn't an e-ring. I responded that she'd know when I was finally engaged because I'd be shouting from the rooftops!! LOL! She was cute.
1.gif

OK, back to homework!!

goldengirl - my mom's going to be making my dress too. I'm afraid to even start the process of looking, though. It's overwhelming to even think about how much needs done before I get married!! Everyone's first question is when the wedding will be.. and we've no idea.

So it totally just took me an hour to log in here. I think my laptop likes to change settings or something, because it was not letting me log in at school. I have to use the Citrix client so it thinks I'm using a computer on the schools network. maybe they have my laptop firewalled or something, but it wasn't last week. Weird, huh?

So ChooChoo
8.gif
I feel SOO bad for you, because I know exactly how you feel. You have been here even longer than me! I really hope he doesn't make you wait too long! Its nice that he wants the proposal to be special, but it gets to a point where its almost worse to make you wait while he thinks up a good plan. Oh my gosh.. I hope my b/f doesn't do that to me. If I am not engaged within the next two weeks.. I think they'll have to put me in the insane asylum. If the newly engaged girl I work with checks my finger one more time and asks why I'm not engaged yet, I'm sure that I will SNAP.

GoldenGirl
8.gif
I think I feel even worse for you!! Everytime my boyfriend says anything about spending money on his car, it makes me CRINGE.. because I think of how that money could be better spent on things like our first home together..I'm sure he thinks the same thing when ever I go on a shopping spree though
2.gif
I think that if he was spending the money on his car instead of my e-ring though, I might have just strangled him. But he was actually very good about that. He was glad to spend the money on my ring, it just took him a little long to actually get moving on it. Getting the diamond from my parents was his biggest hold-up because he's shy and was nervous about that. Once my mom and I convinced him that he didnt have to go through my dad, and he could just deal with my mom, he went a little quicker.
I am definitely excited to try on dresses, but what I really want is my mother-in-law to make my dress for me. When Jeff and I first started dating he told me that when we got married his mom would want to make my dress for me. I was DEAD-SET against it when he first told me, for many reasons, (one being that I wasn't the BIGGEST fan of his mom when we were first dating). I also know that I am going to want to try on lots of dresses, and get exactly what I want, so I wasn't thrilled about giving up control to her. However, now that I know her better, I know that if I ask her to, she will make me exactly what I want. The only question is whether she is really going to have time to make my dress for me, or if she actually can. Jeff swears she can make dresses, because she used to be a seamstress in a bridal shop. But whenever Ive talked to her, she's only talked of doing alterations and stuff. She also has a job.. so i wouldn't want to impose that on her unless its really waht she wants to do.

JCJD - You definitely have to post pics of your new p-ring. I like to see rings of all kinds.. Oh.. I've been meaning to post.. did you notice that on the "description" of the show me the ring board it says something about "Only post genuine gemstones, no simulants please"? Did that "appear" shortly after I posted my first fake ring, or did I just never notice it before? Personally, I think that it is a silly rule! I want to see everyones rings, real and fake! I think its sort of snooty of PS to say that we can't use their bandwidth for our fake rings! So.. if I get anymore fake rings, I will continue to post them!

Okay.. I was supposed to be studying for the last hour and a half instead of looking at bridesmaid dresses (I have new faves) and trying to log on to PS..

Melissa

Hey, if they complain about us using their bandwidth to post our fake rings, we can just refer them to our b/f's who haven't given us the real things yet! Yes! Diamonds for everyone!!

MS--this same thing has happened to me on both my home and work computers. What always fixes the problem for me is to go into internet options or preferences or whatever and hit "delete cookies". that's done the trick twice. keep in mind that i'm no computer expert so i don't know what "side effects" this course of action might have . . . but my IT people at work said there would be none and i haven't noticed any on either computer. try it out!

Reena - Thanks! I will try that! It makes sense.. And no.. deleting your cookies won't hurt anything.. it might delete a saved login or two but that would be all. You may not be a computer expert.. but you sure do know how to login to PS
9.gif
. hehe.. I'm picturing you running to the IT people at work in a panic because you couldn't login to pricescope..
3.gif
I'm just teasing you of course.

ooh. I am TIRED.. and I have a loong day of work tomorrow with some studying for a test and some reading packed in there too.. YUCKY

thought this was funny you guys were talking about the puter acting up...when i first got on pricescope, after a few days my puter would freak out and freeze and not do anything. my mom told me to "delete cookies" under the internet options, and wahla! puter runs smoothly, and the "delete cookies" is done once every couple of days because i visit pricescope too much
9.gif
which of course i don't consider a bad thing, i just have to relogin as MelissaSue said. All in the name of love of pricescope!!!

lol! so true. you make me laugh, MS.

Edited to add: it's pretty funny, cause that actually happened! I work in a law firm, ok, and I called up the IT department, which is always swamped with calls from people who lost their important documents (ie legitimate work-related concerns), and i'm like, heellloooooo, i have a problem here! lol.

On October 9th, my bf proposed, so you can take me off the list.
1.gif
It was funny because I actually signed for the fedex package when the Michael B ppl sent the ring the day before. I flew home today and I must say the e-ring is stunningly beautiful, More later with pics, its hard to take pictures without macro mode. But we're engaged, so exciting! Only question is if I wear this on the subway to work everyday.

I KNEW there would be someone this weekend. I just had that FEELING!!!! Kaya- COngrats! You MUST post pictures ASAP. I'm SOOOO JEALLLLLOUSSSSSS
