Are you worried about the Coronavirus?

Drive through testing site now in West Palm starting Monday Must make an appointment and meet the recommended guidelines.

NYC limiting restaurants and bars to selling take out and delivery only. Bars and nightclubs, if they don’t sell food, will close. My millennial NYC children are relieved after watching their peers party all weekend for St Patricks day. :wall:

@lyra, I have to make sure the paperwork is in order every hurricane season. Its ...sobering.

I can't tell you that I don't feel fear because that would be a lie. but, I also feel a sort of acceptance too. This is what we are dealing with. It will suck. we will lose family and friends. Its sobering. But one still has to live. ((hugs))

Update
son and wife cancelled plans to fly out to San Francisco after learning that most places they wanted to visit shut down.
Thank you for letting me vent and share my fears here ladies, you gals are the best xo

Yay! I am so glad to hear this. I was hoping they would see everything shutting down and decide to postpone.

Hi jimmiannne, they're both 34. Please don't be angry for me , I didn't post this to upset you or anyone else just needed to vent. Thank you for your kind thoughts it means a lot to me.
I am also sorry you had to go though something similar, hugs to you xo.

Clueless, yours are about the same age as mine. I was wondering because I recognized the attitude when your son thanked you for the vacation reading materials. lol
I just spent an afternoon with mine where they were happy to help me understand how the world really works.
It reminded me of when I was that age and used to have to explain things to my poor old Mother
Hugs to you.

Oh! Just read your update. Happy and relieved for you.

Well the good news is I don't have Corona the bad news is I have an ordinary flu. Yes I saw a doctor ones willing to isolate and see people in case it was Corona and unlike lots of other morons I self isolated just in case.....

I've been making jokes about what happens if you have the flu and then get Corona at the same time. Been in bed ill a lot for the past two days I probably shouldn't joke about having both simultaneously, but hey what can you do :shock::lol: and the medical people did say if I developed any respiratory symptoms like shortness of breath or chest pain go directly to hospital. Having ordinary flu is a great way to get people to take you seriously and not want to come in contact with you.

It's odd to say, but.....I'm so happy you have the flu! :)

Just curious if you have flu A or B? I had A and it was terrible.
Feel better soon!!! Glad it’s not the CV

We're all glad you have the flu...lol I think for most of the country flu season is end of April.

@whitewave - A - but I had a flu shot in April last year so I don't know if that's made it marginally better than it would have been otherwise, or if that has completely worn off. Everything aches like hell and I've had flu symptoms plus the headache from hell that no drugs are fixing....

My son had to go to the children's hospital and was off school for 3 months when he was 6 or 7 with type A so I remember it can be pretty nasty. Corona is supposed to have less of an impact on children than ordinary flu.

@Arcadian - I'm an Aussie so technically a summer flu (even though we are now in autumn it's still hot where I live) or a really early winter flu (no idea which). One of my son's friends was off school a few weeks ago with something similar so I guess it's going around our community.

Jpie, too patient , jimmieanne and everyone else thank you again for your support xo

Jimmieanne , someone is going to have to explain to me real soon how the world really works cause I don't get any of it lol.

I have physical therapy 3 x week. I very much still need it but wondering if it would be safe to go, or if I should figure out a way to do it from home. They've been pretty good about cleaning, sanitizing, etc but just going somewhere with people seem... wrong somehow?

If you don't have a shelter in place order in your county, then go. I would not be putting off anything thats medically necessary unless they were going to close their office.

This is disturbing

You can see the amount of doubling the virus does

I understand your concern!

I need to set up physical therapy (still) since I had back surgery in December. I got the go ahead to start just in time for strikes then super busy with other appointments until I got sick. Now the virus... They have confirmed patients in the medical center I would be doing PT plus just opened a screening location. Yeah. I am busy with school (finals) this week then might check out other PT options that aren't as exposed to the virus.

@arkieb1 Been thinking about you. Sending healing dust and please take care! x

Glad it is "just" the flu @arkieb1 and feel better soon!

Hope you're feeling better soon @arkieb1! My son had Influenza A last year at age 6, it was terrifying how sick the poor little guy was. No need fro hospital, but still scary.

We are starting to cancel elective surgery here (despite the government's stupid notion that we will have a 'blitz' on elective surgeries, and shove through thousands of extras in the coming weeks to beat the Covid surge...what nonsense!), and are preparing to babysit ventilated patients in our ORs on anaesthetic machines, as our ICU won't have enough ventilators.

So glad to hear you do not have CV arkieb1! I wish you a speedy recovery from the flu.

There have been some discussions in various of my MS groups, why people with MS (and probably people with other serious chronic conditions) don't seem to be freaking out as much as those who have been, until recently, laboring under illusions of their personal invincibility. It's probably because we've done our freak-outs years ago, and live mostly like this as a matter of course, and know there are situations much worse than just dying. So I'll post this here because I love Ardra, who can turn a phrase and go straight for the jugular better than most.

My favorite line in the whole post (which isn't terribly long)

".....the public is being constantly reassured that this virus is really only taking out the elderly and those with underlying conditions. Let’s be clear: this is a not-so-subtle nod to the belief that those lives are less valuable anyway. And PS, we can hear you."

Same. We are coming up with game plans of turning surgical ICUs to medical ones and potentially even caring for adults in pediatric rooms
