DF--I do appreciate you contributing to this thread. We always need "old timers" like you to introduce some nostalgia. :naughty:
yep, i grew up watching some of the best (no drugs) players ever to play the game.

you win, you win! ;(

But SO was born in 73 so he'd hold a good conversation.

Uh-oh...my SO was ALSO born in 73...he's a Yankees fan, though! I'm thinking we should all meet up in Cinci... ;))

Love ya, girlie! Anyone who can talk sh*t about baseball is a friend of mine!!!

I know, I was just thinking the same exact thing you posted. I love baseball fans, especially ones that are girls!!!!!! :appl: :appl: :appl: :appl: :appl: :appl: :appl: :appl: ....I'd LOVE to talk crap to your SO cause mine is from north jersey where a looooot of yankees fans reside and we deal with them on a daily basis.

Tell your SO to check out the front page of the NY Times....guess who was on the front? Phillies...on a NY times cover while their hometown team won their game hahahaahhahaha

Like Harry Carrey said, "HOLY COW!!!"

A girl after my own heart!

Yeah yeah yeah...

Ok. So your SO is from N. Jersey. Mine is from CT. No DOUBT they'd be at each other's throats, HILARIOUS!

I like to keep it civilized...so I'll keep the sh*t-talking to a minimum and keep it here (especially since we don't know each other on any other forums or social networks!) Also because I like you, AutumnNovember and so far we've kept up sort of a nice friendship here on PS!

Predictions are just not my thang, though. I'm not a gambler, and I'm not usually a sh*t-talker unless my team makes it this far...so I really have nothing to offer. Should I ask FI his thoughts and post them here tomorrow??? Sorry to disappoint...I started this thread just looking for fan participation and not really anticipating such rabidness! LOL!

Again, this has been a lot of fun (thanks again DF), and I really appreciate your participation, AN! I'm super jealous that you're going to the game tomorrow! Last time I was at Great American it stormed so bad we had to leave before the first pitch was thrown. Boo!

Oooomg hahahahaha NO WAY!!!!!! From CT?!!??!!? Ahhhhhh! We're bound to meet someday and watch baseball while drinking beer/talking crap to each other all day! I enjoy fun crap talking but there have been times where some people have gotten way out of hand about it. I have a friend who is a braves fan and he literally harassed me all season long. Eventually, I had to block him off of facebook completely and cut all communication till the season ended---it was that bad!

I didn't bet on my predictions or anything, just sat down and thought out how I thought it would play out. I don't gamble either, promise! Except I'm lying now because I gambled once on a slot machine and won 60$. Do ask your SO his thoughts on the brackets! Don't worry, unlike most philly fans I do know how to keep it classy---I swear! The only exception was when I was at the SF Giants stadium and I wore a phillies hat (they weren't even playing the phillies that day) and someone decided to taunt me the whole 9 inning. My philliness came right out.

I have a lot of exceptions, can you tell?

I'm ranting now because its 4 am which usually means its time for bed.

I'll be back on the thread tomorrow :)

Aww. Lovely pics, AN! I wish I had more...I have some sad stories and a lot of the pics I had saved I ended up deleting because my ex took me there for our 3rd anniversary in 2006. You and your fiance are so gorgeous!

I have this one left from 2006, we sat in the diamond area just behind home plate and it was a great game but I can't remember who won. I did bring KGJr's rookie card with me, but the maitre d' told us he never signs anything anymore so I was quite disappointed.

I'm sorry to hear :(((((((

How cute is Rosie?! I love her!

I really really loved their diamond club. Their Hall Of Fame club blows away any other teams HF club that I have seen. It is done so beautifully. The Red's really do have so much history behind their team. When the phillies are not playing the reds, I'm rooting for them all the way. SO loves Votto...I love my boy Phillips.

Thank you for the kind compliments :)

Stupid pic won't upload. See ya tomorrow--Reds/Phillies at 6 p.m. EST!!! :appl:

Right ON. I wish I'd witnessed the days of baseball when players were all natural.

Remember the Robert Redford movie "The Natural"? Now THAT was a great baseball movie.

I also remember watching the 1998 (give or take) playoff between McGuire and Sosa for homeruns...and being so disappointed later on to find out that McGuire was roided out and Sosa was a corker. My dad has the largest bat collection in the midwest and never found a corked bat among his collection. I could talk about baseball FOREVER!!!!

yeah, sad, really sad for baseball.IMO...Willie Mays is the greatest baseball player ever. don't believe me?? ask your dad... ;))

My SO would probably have a 10 hr convo with your dad and DF...he loves people that know baseball. Sometimes I listen to people (like SO and guys like your papa) talk who really know baseball well and I am truly amazed at how many details they know about such and such player or team X...its insane!

DGAH! I missed all the fun last night!!!!
So I grew up an Indians fan, and let me tell you, being a product of the 80s, prime age for baseball loving in the mid 90s, I knew every single player on the Indians and just have always loved baseball! However, having recently moved to Cinci and married to a West Side boy with a Reds pitcher in his family tree, I'm really rooting for them in the post season. We are going to the game on Sunday, (got him tix for our anniversary), and I think ill slowly become a real Reds fan. We watch every stinkin game on TV!

AN, I LOVE your pics of Great American! How lucky am I to drive past the park 2xs everyday! And seriously, how perfect to have an insurance company named "great american" sponsor your field...what a classic name for a ballpark!

Monnie! I didn't know you were a Reds fan! Woooohoooo! And you're so close to me, umm, let's catch a game sometime! How fun would that be???

GO REDLEGS!!!!!!!!

Eta: Pete Rose deserves to be in the HOF  :rodent: :o. Just saying....

My SO would be really really jealous of you :) He's trying to convince me to move out to Cinci for 6 months just so we can have season tickets and go watch every game. We might do it, we'll see!

FI and I were at Sunday's game when they clinched the division and last night's game-unreal! Talk about the FREAK!

Nah. Just cleaning up the aftermath of all the things I broke last night in my fits of rage at the sh*t show that took place. I haven't been that upset over a game since the Bartman incident in 2004 (Cubs). What a totally ridiculous spectacle.

I'm late to this thread, but I am a die hard Yankee's fan, and a proud season ticket holder.

The Yanks are off to a great start! :appl:

Mine fell asleep during the last inning and as the victory announcement was made he started smiling and clapping IN HIS SLEEP. I wanted to kill him. I'll get him back in game 3 of the Yanks series. :angryfire: He woke up and was not at all aware that he had done that, but obviously his subconscious loyalties lie elsewhere. Grr.

A woman after my own heart!

I've been a Rangers fan for a long time, but never followed them devotedly (would you?) until my mom decided to become a fan in '05 or so. It's been a fun few years! Lets go in Game 4!

FI is a die-hard White Sox fan, so I've spent a lot of time at The Cell. His idea of a great vacation is to see a baseball game, so we've been on the great stadium tour of America. This past weekend we went to Kansas City to catch the last Royals game of the season. Fairly nice stadium, excellent frozen custard!

I can't decide if going to see the Marlins or the A's was more depressing...

I've had some wonderful times at Great American....thanks for letting me show you.

How 'bout a Phillies jersey, AN? Or a Reds? I could get you either. **edited by moderator**

Hubby is going to the Reds game tomorrow. I think he's more excited than the day we got married! He bought a new Reds shirt today to wear. His brother bought tickets before they had clinched, and he called right after the game on the night they made it to invite hubby. He was screaming and dancing around the house - it was hilarious! He's going with his brother and 2 nephews, and I'm stuck at home. I hope for a better game than the one Friday night.
