Oh my flippin' god....the Rangers are going to the World Series. I never thought I'd live to see this. I work at the Fort Worth Star-Telegram and I've watched all or part of every game for years. (And the people on tv are holding up Dallas Morning News front pages, shoot me, just shoot me now.)

This is gonna sound insane because I am a die hard Phils fan, but if the Phils make it to the world series and lose to the Rangers....I won't be heartbroken at all. I think it is because I know the excitement of being in the world series and how it feels for the city as a whole to win a world series and I'd love to see the Rangers experience that.

I agree, though, it's such a challenge to actually make it to the WS that if and/or when your team is in it, you have that feeling of "well, we made it THIS far, what a great ride it's been!"

Best of luck to your Phillies, and I am being as sincere as I can possibly be right now, I swear. The Phillies have played some really fantastic teams this year, and they definitely deserve to be where they are.

Your FI and I can just go cry in a corner together and hatch plans for next year's Big Red Machine!!!

Ok let me explain. I really hate the Yankees so automatically I will like any team that has taken them out of being in the world series. SINCE the Rangers have never ever won a World Series, I really would not feel as bad seeing them win against us as opposed to the Yankees who have a shit ton of World Series under their belts. I think the Rangers in general are a fun team and I think I might start following them in the future. When I got to go to the World Series parade in 2008, it was a feeling that I really can't even describe. Magical is a perfect word. We hadn't won a series in over 20 years, yet here is this team (Rangers) who has never ever won a series and I'd actually be happy for the people of that city to get to experience something so awesome. I would be extremely angry and upset if the Yankees won the WS again and got to get that experience for the 80th time as opposed to a team that has NEVER had the chance to experience that.

We'll see what happens! Thank you for the nice words, even though I think you secretly hate me just a twinge right now, hahaha (I kid, I kid).

I really think the Red's will make it again next year. I'm excited to follow them again and watch how they evolve into an even better team.

P.S. watching the Phils play against the Giants has been very disappointing. They got 'cold' at the wrong time and there really is no reason they should have struggled as much as they have against them.

Their payroll bought them the WS, hahaha. They'll buy cliff lee soon and then they'll be a team to fear all over again. SO thinks the Rangers are gonna win it all. He says they are 'hot' right now. We'll see.

I really wish there would be a salary cap in baseball. It would really make things a lot more interesting. The Red's are a small market team yet they had such a great year. I seriously can't wait to go see them play next year.

I can't believe we're even here! I went to the last game of the regular season where we clinched the playoff spot-so exciting!!!! We also went to game 1 of the NLDS where Timmy had 14 Ks!

I feel sort of guilty going to the World Series but my mom's ex bf (who is really like my stepdad) said that it is a once in a lifetime chance and we have to go...I suppose if you look at it in the context of the wedding budget it's not too bad I am sooo excited and will take pics! Unfortunately FI and I can't make game 1 (work/school) but game 2 should be exciting as well, although it's not Lee/Lincecum...

No I'm totally with you on this one (plus, you know, it helps that they have Cliff Lee. Yeah, he's not ours anymore, but I'm still gonna cheer for the guy no matter what team he's on. Because he is THAT AWESOME).

Honestly a teeny-tiny very small part of my soul was quietly relieved when we got knocked out of contention, because now I don't have to feel like I'm betraying the hometown team to cheer the Rangers on.

.....They have cliff lee and dynamite hitting...something the Giants don't have (hitting) and something the Phils went real cold on. If they Phils were playing the way they were in September the Giants never would have stood a chance, unfortunately they were red hot at the wrong time.
