Calling all the Pregnant PS''ers

Diva, CONGRATULATIONS! Welcome James Emerson! I can't wait to "meet" James. Yay, more PS boy babies! You are such a trooper, laboring on your own until 7cm. I'm sorry to hear about your tear and hope you have a smooth recovery!

qtiekiki, glad you are doing well. You look great! All belly! I hope I look as good as you when I'm 35 weeks.

Regalada~Isabelle is beautiful. Congrats!

Diva~Congrats!! Can''t wait to see pics!

Congrats diva! Can't wait to see some pictures of your new little boy!

QT I loooove those pictures of you! You look like you stuck a basketball under your shirt
3.gif
What a gorgeous round belly! What a beautiful mommy!

Kay you belly is gorgeous, lady, show that thing off!

snlee congrats on starting to waddle, now you are truly preggo!

Diva--Congrats!! Another PS baby! I hope you heal up well (ouch, a 4th degree epi, get some help so you can rest and heal!) Did they ever find out why the placenta did not deliver, that can be really serious. I am glad you are okay. Post pic when u have recovered.

Qtiekiki--you did not gain a single ounce anywhere but your belly!
6.gif
--you look so tiny and beautiful. I think someone said this before but i feel like you have been pregnant so long....but not for much longer. How are you feeling?

QT, you really do look just the same (which is to say, gorgeous) in those pictures except for the belly (also gorgeous, but not the same)! You're now my role model!

DIVA!! Congratulations! Can''t wait to see the pics. How exciting...I''m glad you are both doing well. Did you have everything ready to go? Or was there more you were planning on doing in the next 4 weeks??

Kay: yup, I"m a Tucson girl...The best thing is the GEM SHOW!! If any of you guys want to get away next February, it''s a gorgeous time of year here, and the jewelry and prices at the show are amazing. It is HUGE!!
btw...GREAT belly shot! you look amazing!
also, would love to see pics of the roman shades when you''re done. i''m VERY impressed with anyone who can sew. i think in my next lifetime, I''d like to get a sewing maching and learn.

Pave: great to see you around! I can''t believe you are already at 13 weeks! Time sure does fly on this thread... I think they have given up on the confirming of the pregnancy. too funny!! i''m excited to go and see her again (and especially with DH b/c they went to med school together!). FWIW, I was still pretty darn tired (and even more tired of being tired!!) around 13 weeks. If it''s different than how you have been feeling up until now, I would definitely broach the idea of a test to rule out anemia...

QT: You are SUCH a gorgeous pregnant woman. I am so jealous...I am ALREADY much bigger in my thighs and butt than I was before. WHat is your secret for having it all go to your belly?!?!

SNLEE: that is too funny about the pregnancy waddle. I''m not quite 22 weeks, and already I find myself doing it a bit. DH makes fun of me, but I can''t help it! I think it has to do with the new center of gravity thing we''re dealing with!!

Oh DIVA, congratulations! What wonderful news!

Fisher, Snlee, Kay, Diva, LIA, Gemma, TGal Pave and MSB -- thank you! ((hugs))

Gemma -- i know you''ve heard it from others, but i wanted to let you know that the girls do indeed get bigger during BF, but then they kind of fluctuate -- i also have gone up in size a lot with this pregnancy and i just bought myself a D. Only one b/c i think i''ll be buying a bigger one before i even get to the bfing! I bought one i can wear with everything and spent very little on it (i figure it''s temporary anyway!) HTH

Regalada -- She is absolutely gorgeous!! Congrats!!!

Jess -- wow, congratulations!! What a surprise, huh? Glad you are all doing well --- can''t wait to see pics :) (i''m honored to have a PS baby to share my bday with ;))

Indy -- glad you like the doctor -- i''m crossing my fingers for ya that everything''s just fine with your little bean :)

LIA -- my DH thought he was/is a comic too (ugh) --- i LOOOOOOVE the way the pool water feels too -- we''ve been going 1 to 2 times a week (plus we feel so *light* in the water ;))

Kay -- what a great belly shot! I can''t believe someone asked if you were having twins though :)

Pave -- I was exhausted beyond belief through my first trimester and i was takin iron too ...sounds like normal 1st trimester stuff to me (which is good b/c it means it''ll get better!)

still catching up....
jen

Q -- you look great! Pregnancy really agrees with you
1.gif
Looking forward to your nursery pics.

Snlee -- how cute that you got the preggo waddle ;)

Jackie -- how are you feeling?

My appointment went quickly -- the girls looked good and are measuring 1 lb 1 oz and 1 lb 2 oz at 22 weeks...right in line with singletons, so that was happy. My doctor seemed totally unconcerned about the PSD (which has gotten tons worse, walking for these last couple of days has become horrible along with rolling over in bed, putting pants on and getting up from sitting/laying) -- he told me to try to get a support brace to ease the pressure a bit. I ordered one last night that goes over my shoulders -- should be interesting
20.gif
I went to the hobby store to get a crossstitch kit for the girls today and came SOOO close to using the wheelchair cart, then i thought better of it. Embarrassing! Also my doctor did NOT check my cervix which surprised me -- he said he didn''t want to mess with anything down there. Twin mommas -- is this weird?

Hope you all have a happy and safe 4th of July!

jen

A big welcome to James Emerson
and many congrats to Jess and family.

Hope you have a speedy recovery from the episio.
Rest up and post pix when you can.
Can''t wait to baby.

HI Diva- I was just asking about you today! So glad to hear from you - your story is incredible. Congratulations!!! I love the name. Take good care of yourself!

Kay- i think you were posting while I was this morning. YOu look great!!! I can't wait to have a real belly. so fun. Is there nowhere near you where you can see the uppa in person? I feel lucky.

Qtiekki- wow that comparison is incredible. I think I am going to start taking with a shirt on instead of off- I don't like looking at my pudge- I am hoping it will look less -pudgy and more baby very soon. thanks for the info on fatigue. I don't remember being this tired earlier on- i dunno I will keep an eye on it.

Snlee- my dr. did check my iron early on and it was ok. I read conflicting info today on the web. ONe place said you could get anemia at the begiining of the 2nd tri- others at the end of 2nd tri. confusing. I am trying to take my vitamins and will call my dr if I am not feeling better soon.

LIA thanks for always being so happy to "see" me- Yeah its crazy I am already 13 weeks. It sounds like you guys will have a great connection to your ob. that is cool.

Jen- yeah on the babies weight! your dr had hours on july 4th? impressive. Did your energy improve in the 2nd tri and are you tired again now? what kind of pain are you having? I didn't understand the abbreviation or acronym or whatever it is

oh and you guys, what does fwiw mean? from what I ...? I cannot for the life of me figure it out.

ETA I borrowed a doppler from the clinic next door and checked out the baby's h.r. it sounded good and was a nice reassurance. I kind of want to rent one. Did I read on here that the cheaper versions are not reliable(the ones you buy)?

Q-just saw your pics!! You look absolutely adorable!! ALL BABY!!
9.gif

Yay Regalada! Congratulations on the arrival of Isabelle! She is gorgeous and I love her hair! I hope you are healing well and that breastfeeding is getting easier!

DIVA! Congratulations on the arrival of James! I love his name and am looking forward to pics. What an amazing birth story! Sounds like a hairy third stage-I hope your recovery is going well- and that you get a chance to rest. (Bet all of the other moms are going 'ha!' at that thought).

Gemma, congrats on a good 20-week scan. My b**bs had a growth spurt in the 2nd half of the 1st trimester (went from small D to DD). My full coverage bras became demi bras, but I can still wear them. I want to wait and see if I go up any more before buying new bras because I don’t want to buy multiple sizes on the way up. I did have to buy new athletic bras because I was way too squished in my regular ones. I also had to buy a strapless for a special occasion. I asked the saleslady for a DD and she brought me an E! (She claimed it was the same thing, but I thought an E is the same as a DDD.) DH was very amused by the E – he is just waiting to see if I hit an F when the milk comes in!
23.gif
(I’m told him not to get too excited,it’s not like he’ll actually get to touch the **** star boobs.
2.gif
) I may have to get a lift to get rid of the extra skin once I stop BF-ing (or I suppose I could just get implants to take up the extra skin, lol).
HA! This is exactly what I told my DH. Thanks to everyone who replied on this topic-I might buy a couple of 'transition' bras and stick with my exercise bras otherwise until it's clearer what the bbs are going to do! I'm a DD now as well-which is a big step up from a C!

Meanwhile Kay your belly looks great too! And no love handles-I'm so jealous!
27.gif

Q, I cannot get over your 'before' and 'after' shots-someone else said exactly what I was thinking-you are exactly the same except for a beautiful preggy belly! C'mon, share your secret!
2.gif

Pave, I'm sorry you are feeling tired! I think my first tri symptoms (tired, nauseated) got worse in the two weeks just before they disappeared (about 14-15 weeks). I still feel tired but not nearly as bad-can go to bed at 11 pm now (I know, I'm such a parTAY animal!)
9.gif

Snlee, Congrats on 6 months! On the birth plan thing-I have seen a lot of births and plan to just keep my options open for my first child. I would like not to be induced, to only have an epi if I need one (and I include me deciding that I need one!
2.gif
) and not to tear (!). I''d also like to have the body of Kate Hudson approximately four hours after the baby is born, but y''know... I don''t know how things work where you are-at the hospital where I''m delivering there are ensuite baths in every room and a bed that adjusts so I can squat with back support, plus birthing balls, water pool, epidurals-you name it. I think reading birth stories (natural, caesarean, induced, epidural, no epi) is a great way to educate yourself and there are stacks of books as well. I can''t remember-are you doing any classes on labour as part of your prenatal?

Jen yay for a good ultrasound! I''m sorry about the PSD-one of my close friends had that and it was

15.gif
(sorry I don''t think the other word I have for it is appropriate)-I''m so sorry to hear that you have it. Hope you get a chance to rest-put those boys to work at home!!

Pave I think Diver had a doppler which she used. I confess to using the one at work occasionally
20.gif
bad Gemma!

Thanks everyone who asked to see pics-the ones from this ultrasound are not as clear for some reason-bubs didn''t cooperate as well as s/he could have!!

I hope this is not huge...

in addition to my prenatal tablet, my dr told me to start taking 1000mg of calcium and 1 iron pill when I was 16 wks along.
he checked my iron level later on during the GD test (24wks) to see if i needed a higher dose of iron.

QT
It does look like you stuff a basketball under your shirt.
You are all belly!

Kay
Fingers crossed that your placenta will move up.
You've got a cute belly too :)

Hope all you preggos are keeping cool in this summer heat.

Sorry I''m totally spamming this thread today but I forgot to say to Indy about Rhesus factor:

According to my Mayo Clinic guide to a healthy pregnancy:

Rhesus incompatibility is only a factor if you are Rh -ve (as you are) and if your partner is Rh +ve (I can''t remember if you said he is).

All pregnant women in the US have blood grouping and antibody (Ab) testing performed routinely. If you test -ve to Rhesus antibodies, you will have a further test at about 28-29 weeks to check for Ab again. If this is also negative, you will have a shot of RhIg (rhesus immunoglobulin) which attacks any Rh +ve cells in your blood stream so you don''t develop immunity. Rhesus incompatibility is not usually a problem in the first pregnancy as it usually takes a pregnancy (although that includes an ectopic, miscarriage or molar pregnancy) for it to develop. According to the MCGHP: ''Because of the development of RhIg, fetal Rh disease is now rare.'' If you are one of the few women who do have Rh antibodies, you can be tested regularly to determine the levels, and ultrasound is useful for measuring blood flow in the fetus (which can be a marker of anaemia). Development of antibodies is more common if the bleeding occurs after the 12th week of pregnancy.

Hope this helps! I know you are a researcher and have probably found out more info but I thought I''d add that because the book really summarises it well.

Hi Gemma, thanks for the info! I knew almost all of that from my reading, but not the part about bleeding after the 12th week being more risky, so that is a comfort! My doctor didn''t seem too concerned about it, so that''s probably why. DH is + and I''m -, so we''ll just see what happens!
35.gif

BTW, do you like the Mayo Clinic book? That''s the one my midwife recommended but I hadn''t picked it up yet.

Pave--I think the acronym that Jen used was for pelvic pain (there is a medical term for it and she probably abbreviated) --the pain you get when you try to get up, lift up a leg or just walk (Jen, i had it realllly bad as well and acutally *still* have a bit of it 3 months later
8.gif
)
Also, i think "fwiw" stands for "for what it''s worth" --that''s my guess anyway.

congrats regalada and Diva!!!!

Congrats Regalada and Diva!!!!! Can''t wait to see the adorable pictures to come...hope you guys are catching some sleep right now!
36.gif

Regalada - Sounds like you had an easy delivery - lucky you. Isabelle is adorable. Congrats!

Diva - Welcome to little James & sorry about the episiotomy. Hope you heal quickly.

QT - I totally agree with lili that you look like you shoved a basketball under your shirt. How did you manage not to gain anywhere else? It''s pretty amazing. You look fantastic.

Jas -- thanks for clarifying to pave what the psd is -- I'm so sorry to hear you are still dealing with some of it this far after delivery
7.gif
I hope it eases up soon! (I thought it was supposed to disappear after babies -- uh-oh!)

Pave -- PSD stands for "pubic symphesis dysfunction" but it's also called SPD "symphesis pubis dysfuntion" -- and like jas said, it's pelvic pain (or as the ladies at the twinstuff forums like to call it, "evil crotch pain".... basically, imagine your pubic bone feeling like it's breaking in half -- like i said, fun stuff!
14.gif
And yes, my energy improved with the second trimester as far as the fatigue goes, but i'm tired for typical third-trimester reasons these days (lugging around these babies!), so there's absolutely hope for you
2.gif

Gemma -- your u/s pic is such a greaet profile shot! ETA i like the way you described the psd
2.gif
-- yes i'm getting a lot of rest!

DH and I are getting a date night tonight, catching dinner and a movie (it's been a while), so i'm looking forward to it... see ya tomorrow...

I wanted to send a quick update since I have a minute. James and I are at home now and we are doing very well. He''s such a dream! Our first night was rough, as expected, but I am really conforming to motherhood much better than I expected. He''s opening his eyes more and more and it''s so exciting because he know my voice and DH''s and he''ll look toward us when we''re talking.

Since he arrived early there are still some things we are getting sorted out. My best girlfriend went and bought the crib mattress and travel system we registered for so that''s been a huge help. We have a bassinet so we''re using that in our room for now. Luckily my mom and dad already had a car seat for their car so James and I traveled home from the hospital with them. I have a baby shower held by my MIL and SILs on July 12 so I''m sure we''ll be getting tons of boy stuff!

My labor/birth may have sounded like a breeze in my previous post, but it''s called labor for a reason! It was hard work. I focused on my DH and my mother and also used breathing techniques prior to getting the epidural. James arrived sunny side up so I had a lot of back labor which was really painful. To be honest, the moment he was born felt good. I could feel a lot of pressure and pushing him out was the only thing that made it feel better. I lost a lot of blood during the delivery of the placenta and so I received a transfusion right after birth.

Okay - time to feed him! I''ll post more soon!

Jess

Hey girli! i wanted to tell ya something - just between us and the rest of these nice people. Since knowning you for more than half my life, and totaly understand what your saying and what you really mean by what you didnt say - i just wanted to tell ya something. Since you had your first baby shower, and not getting the high ticket items (besides the crib and dresser on order) and having many conversations about the second poorly planed shower - i knew you were bothered by that. i know we had talked about the nursery not being set up and how it was lame to have a shower that late - and who knows what kind of stuff they would buy you since no one cared to shop off your regerstry. Most people dont buy the high ticket items even if they are some long lost relative - i have learn this. they love ya but some how they just buy an outfit and call it a day - in stead of digging deep and forking over the cash for something that is really needed. since your baby came early and no one was going to step up to the plate to help out - also knowing that you are worried about the house and things not being ready and not having the items that were needed - i didnt want to worry like i know you would in the hospital - being all emotional - i didnt want you to lash out and it become a big fight between you and greg - about how his family should have had it together sooner and it shouldnt have been an after thought - if they would have had it together things might have been a bit better - but one is never sure. So knowing how much all this means to you - knowing you for you and how your brain really works - im sure greg sorta knows - but i have known you forever - so i REALLY KNOW how important it is for you to have things together. So i got you the bedding set, the travel system and the matress and some other stuff that you NEEDED and didnt have. Also knowning that there was no funds to rush out and get these things yourself - i wanted to make your mind rest at ease about things and not go crazy over not being prepared. Im so excited that you did such an awesome job, and that your a mommy now. James is just the cuest ever. i am looking forward to spending much time with him and watching him grow up. Gosh i just love him to pieces. Im glad your starting to settle in - let me know when i can come and visit. How did the dogs and cats respond to the baby?
I love ya much -
Tina

Ps - could your sister have been any more immature at the hospital? gosh - she acted like she hasnt seen a boob before - hello - its called breast feeding - grow up!!

Hey ladies,

Quick update here. Nothing too new except my totally irrational fear of "squishing" the babies while I sleep!!! Whenever I wake up now I am so worried that I squished them at night (I am a stomach sleeper even though I am trying desperately to stay off my stomach-for my comfort as well as the babies)! But I realize that it is an irrational fear at least. But I still can't shake it!

The REAL exciting news is that I am feeling the babies I think! I'm 14 weeks, so my doctor says it's very possible, especially bc it is twins. It feels like a little butterfly fluttering every now and then. Super cool. And I am about 99% positive it is not gas. I know what that feels like!
2.gif
So that is SUPER exciting. DH is so upset that it isn't something he can feel...poor guy.

Hope all the preggos and new mommies are having a great day. It's a busy week for us because we leave for vacation next week yay! We are going to stay at DH's family's cabin on a beautiful peaceful lake for 2 weeks. No email, cell phones, etc. We need it. The only downside is that my MIL will be there for awhile and usually my coping strategy is wine! Lol. Will have to come up with something else...

Hello all... and congrats, Diva!! So glad everything went well.
1.gif
Thanks for keeping us posted!

Had a bit of a drama over the weekend, unfortunately. I posted before about having a LOT of Braxton-Hicks for the past 2 weeks. I called my OB last Monday and (as predicted, since he is the world's most laidback doctor) he told me it was normal, don't worry about it. But since then, I continued to have at least 6+ an hour, round the clock... and yesterday I started timing them. Turns out I was feeling them every 5-8 minutes (even while drinking tons of water, sitting with my feet up, then taking a warm bath and laying on my left side) so I decided to call the on-call OB. She suggested I go in to the hospital for monitoring for "peace of mind".

We got there around 9pm last night, and they hooked me up to the monitors. Contractions were definitely showing up... every 2-3 minutes, actually, so they started an IV to try and "flush them out". A resident did the internal exam, and pronounced me "fingertip dilated", which sounded scary since I'm only 26 weeks. She checked my cervix again 2 hours later and it was still the same, which was good. But because I'm only 26 weeks and still contracting (even after 2 bags of IV fluid), the attending asked her to keep me a few more hours (and another bag of fluid). My contractions didn't change at all... still every 2-3 mins for the entire 6 hours I was on the monitor, but she rechecked my cervix around 3am and I was still dilated the same (although she had a lot of trouble finding it that time, said it had gotten very high?). Plus the fetal fibronectin test came back negative (meaning a less than 5% chance I'll go into labor within the next week), so they sent me home without any real explanation of why this is happening, or what I'm supposed to do about it. Maybe a consequence of dealing with holiday weekend staff? Who knows...
20.gif

So now we are supposed to make an appt with my OB for sometime this week, to "check in" and see what I can/should do at this point... but I'm not optimistic he's going to say anything different from last week. I'm glad we went in to the hospital, but I'm still worried about the fact that I'm contracting every 2-3 mins... I feel like I left there with more questions than answers. I mean, is it really going to continue this way for the next 14 weeks? And I'm supposed to go about my normal life and not worry about it? Besides the fear of pre-term labor, I imagine having 100's of contrax a day has SOME impact on the baby's well-being?? Everyone was really vague when I asked all this and just said there's no way to know... but from reading online, it seems like most doctors/hospitals handle this kind of thing MUCH more conservatively.

Anyway, I'm obviously still a bit freaked out, and I underestimated how scary it would be in the hospital! I'd kind of been able to ignore the contractions, up until then... but seeing them there on the print-out (all 100+) sucked... it was hard not to think of all the worst-case scenarios. DH was much more positive and calm, fortunately... although after we got back home he got a HORRIBLE stomachache and could barely move all night long... I think it was stress and sympathy, poor guy. So that's my saga... fortunately all is well, for now (although the stress of this Wimbledon final CAN'T be good for me). Still contracting, of course, same as the past 2 weeks. Just wanted to share with my PS folks... thanks for listening.

Jen, hope you had fun on your date night!

NF, yay for feeling your babies move! That is so exciting! How a great trip!

eph, I''m sorry to hear you are still having frequent contractions and that you had to go into the hospital for monitoring. Are the contractions painful? How scary! I hope you get some answers soon. The worrying can''t be good. My thoughts are with you and your baby girl! Get lots of rest. The Wimbledon final is so exciting!

Thanks, Snlee... you are so right about the worrying... I really need to focus on chilling out a bit these next few months. My dad just "prescribed" me a month at the beach house.
10.gif
I told him that last time I checked, nobody was paying me to hang out at the beach, so probably isn't going to be an option unless I bring my clients down with me... ha. The contrax aren't really painful, mostly just uncomfortable... it is a creepy-crawly feeling when one first starts, then my whole belly just gets tighter and tighter and finally releases after about a minute. I was having some back pain with them yesterday too, but I think that was the uncomfy hospital bed.

YAY NADAL!!!!!!!!

That was an UNBELIEVABLE match... I was pacing around the house yelling and then cried when he finally won.

NF, that''s so cool!
Eph, your story sounds pretty scary. I ran into a colleague a few weeks ago who recently had his first kid. he told me that he and his wife decided early on that worrying was never going to go away. First you worry whether the bean sticks. Then you worry whether you''ll carry to term. Then you worry about labour, then you worry about whether the baby will be healthy, then you worry about every little thing it does or doesn''t do... and on and on, until you are worrying about whether your ''child'' has chosen the right college or marriage partner...

So they decided to just embrace the worry and learn to live with it.

That''s what I''m trying to do right now, but it is definitely easier said than done, isn''t it!
