Calling all the Pregnant PS''ers

Just wanted to say that I have some fun coming my way this week! I am going home to Williamsburg, VA for Thanksgiving, and there is a place nearby called Fun Fetal Photos. It''s run by a nurse who has done ultrasounds for a loooong time, and their practice does ultrasounds just for fun. They do 3D/4D ultrasounds and have a 40 inch viewing screen and you can bring family along if you want. For $80 they give you pictures, a DVD, keepsake, etc. I know that my gyno offers the 3D/4D ultrasounds at $150-350 depending on the package you get, if the US is for fun. So anyway, I have an appointment for the day after Thanksgiving and I invited my parents. They are so excited and I am too. Hopefully we''ll confirm the sex (girl!) this week! A healthy baby is a lot to be thankful for this week.

Also last week at my appointment I declined testing for spina bifida and all of the other blood testing. Every time before they would ask me if I wanted some sort of testing, and I''d ask the doctor if she recommended it... she always has. Each time everything has come back negative. This week when she asked about the testing, I was just like... no. I am not terminating my pregnancy, and if there are any problems, we will deal with that when we get there. All of the other tests have caused me stress. She told me "honestly you''ve had so many ultrasounds we probably should have seen evidence by now, and you''ll keep getting ultrasounds." Whenever I see the specialist he does a 3D/4D, and starting next month I''ll see him every 2 weeks in addition to my normal appointments that are every 4 weeks. Anyway, I was just tired of all of the tests for problems.

I got a total shock last night. I noticed that my belly-button has suddenly totally changed.
23.gif
I''ve always had a very narrow, deep one and now suddenly it''s starting to go almost flat. OMG...

I''m only 15 weeks - I wasn''t expecting this for at least another 3-4 weeks - and it''s not as if I have much of a bump yet. If I pull all my stomach muscles in, it won''t go completely flat or concave anymore, but it''s not any bigger than if I''d just had a hefty Sunday lunch.

Lol Pandora! For some women it changes early and for some it never changes, it all depends on how/where you are carrying your baby. Mine is basically completely flat now...it had "popped" for awhile, then just kept getting stretched so now it is just flat.

Lindsey - I''m in the same exact boat on all the testing. I''ve turned all of it down.

Pandora - Isn''t it crazy? My belly button is so deep that I could store stuff in there. My friend who''s expecting is starting to notice the flat part moving to the surface of her belly button and she''s 16 weeks. She had the deep belly button with her first pregnancy.

Thanks, Lili!

Missjaxon, I''m going to give the massage therapist a call before the appointment and see what she says and I''m going to also ask my doctor at my next appointment next week.

Lindsey, that''ll be so much fun for everyone to get to see the baby together! If we had a place where we could do it for that cheap I totally would.

Pandora, too funny about your belly button! My pre-preggo belly button sounds very similar to yours and I''ve always been kind of excited about seeing it change when preggo.

I just found out that DH''s cousin is getting married in March. We knew he was getting married, but we thought it would be more like summer or fall. So now I''m wondering what I''m going to wear to this wedding. I''ll be somewhere between 23 and 26 weeks (not sure when in March it is). Do you think I''ll still be able to fit in pre-preggo clothes if they''re stretchy? I''m not going to buy anything until after Christmas (hoping one of my SILs will have some maternity clothes to pass on after we let them know we''re expecting), but I''m wondering if I''ll even need to.

Lili- thanks for visiting us pregos..I hope to be joining the mommy club in may and yeh me and neat are the twin club here but soon I will be solo with twinks unless someone else pops up. Can''t wait to get all the good mommy tips from u guys ;)

Lindsey- that u/s sounds soooo cool and exciting! I wanna search for a place here in nyc that has that too..anyone know of one?...would love to see the pics when u get them!

So im having lower back pain already! @14wks?? Granted twins everything is earlier but what will I do later on..how will I walk ? Goodness the drama of pregnancy begins!

LOL, I feel like my body is being taken over by aliens!

I''ve got a wedding to go to on the 9th May (my EDD is the 19th) so I haven''t got a clue what I will be wearing - a variety of tent I would imagine.
9.gif
Although I did go to a friend''s wedding a few years ago and his sister gave birth 2 days after their wedding - on her due date - and looked super-glamorous so it can be done.

I don''t think I''ll make my brother''s wedding on the 23rd May sadly - but then he''s getting married in Cornwall which is a 7 hour drive!

I''ve been buying loads of gorgeous maternity clothes via ebay from Formes which is a parisian maternity brand. They are so nice and the quality is great. I got two jumpers, two double tops (long sleeved round neck top with a double but seperate layer so it doesn''t ride up over a bump - one black over red and one beige over brown) and a pair of trousers for $40 and they look brand new. Hooray!

I now fit only one pair of very low waisted pre-preggo jeans and NONE of my trousers or skirts at all.

I''ll try and do a belly shot tomorrow!

You''ll probably find it comes and goes at the beginning - it''s all your ligaments softening and moving about. Be careful not to twist badly or wrench things.

Try a hot bath or a hot wheat bag (the kind you put in the microwave) or a TENS machine if you have one. Although TENS only works when it''s on so I tend to use it when I need to concentrate on something and don''t need the distraction of pain.

We had our first doctor''s appointment today and we have a heartbeat!
face23.gif

Truth be told I was so worried the entire week. I must have cried at least 30 times because I was convinced something was wrong. I went from having headaches, sore breasts, a little nausea, and side pains to absolutely nothing. I woke up last Monday feeling like a rockstar. I was so nervous my blood pressure went from its usual 120/70 to 134/78. So just seeing the heartbeat was a great feeling. LOL It was a little awkward because FI''s mom wanted to go with us to the appt and I said sure. I knew they would do an u/s, just didn''t know it would be vaginal. So FMIL and a vaginal u/s. Need I say more? LOL But it was fine and she was very excited. FI kept going is that it, omg that''s crazy, look there it is again, is that the heartbeat? He was very excited.

All in all, a great day

I''m 7w2d and due date is July 13th.
face23.gif
I''ll try to scan the photos of our little coffee bean later.

Robbie-Congratulations! How wonderful!! And cute u/s pic

NF-34 weeks already

. That''s so exciting. And thanks for thinking of us and getting Robbie to announce when the babies arrive!

Yay, Fiery! I''m so happy for you! We''re just a bit over a week apart! Can''t wait to see your pic

Pandora, thanks for mentioning ebay. I''m currently bidding on 2 really cute maternity dresses and if I win, I''ll have spent $21 and I''ll be set for both the wedding and my shower.

Yay! I won the dress I was bidding on for the wedding! It''s from A Pea in the Pod and it only cost me $15 with shipping! So much for waiting til after Christmas to shop. Oops. I''m also bidding on another dress that would be great to wear to showers (mine? Sabine''s? possibly some other cousins'' wedding showers?) and a pair of pants that''s almost exactly like the ones I''m wearing right now from Old Navy, but maternity.

Pandora, I think you''ve created a monster, lol.

Just a quick post for now...
Congrats on the heartbeats Robbie and Fiery!!!!!!!! This is so so so great. Phew. and phew!

Weird about all the belly button talk...I noticed mine getting "wider" lately, and sure enough I come to work today and everone is saying
I "popped" over the weekend. Mmm. I'll post pics tomorrow for your opinion
27.gif

I threw my BFFs baby shower yesterday - it was fab! Pics to come
17.gif

Courtney - you're GORGEOUS! I love your hair do. So sophisticated.
16.gif

NYC - sorry to hear about the back pains. Eeekk. Twins!!!

ETA: NF - 34 weeks!!! I'm dying for you. OMG so soon. AHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Robbie - great score from Pea in a pod. Noice!

I'll come back for more later - work is a calling!

Robbie I wore an empire waisted, super stretchy, non-maternity dress to my best friend's rehearsal dinner when I was about 22 weeks, but measuring about 26. If the dress is a swingy babydoll and is **long enough** (this is key because your belly will bring the length up) you'll be fine.

I'd also be more than happy to send you my BM's dress from the same wedding...it's just so lovely with the cheap fake silk and all...
14.gif

NYC Trust me, you haven't had back pain yet! The kind you are getting now like Pandora said is likely just ligaments stretching. But unfortunately it'll get a lot worse before it gets better. You can take tylenol (NOT other types of pain relievers) if you are really uncomfortable.

Woohoo! I won the shower dress too! $16.30 got me:

Hi everyone! As a lot of you already saw in the ttc thread, I got a faint bfp on an FRER yesterday and an official bfp on a digi this morning! So I just thought I'd pop over and say hi! I'm so excited to be pregnant, and to finally be able to post on this thread because I've been reading it religiously for months!

DH finally showed some excitement this morning, although he is a med. student, and totally the type to be cautious and not want to get his hopes up too early in case something happens.

Despite the fact that dh and I will be moving in late June with my due date in early August and the possibility that my insurance will be changing in July
23.gif
, I'm feeling really good about this pregnancy. I am so excited and I've been so tempted to tell people all day today, but I'm trying my best to be patient!

So my very first question is, do I need to call my Ob/gyn right away to schedule an appointment?

And my second is, did any of you experience changes in your eye prescription if you wear contacts/glasses due to pregnancy? I need to schedule an eye exam today, but don't know if I should tell the eye doctor I'm preggo!

ETA, Robbie, super cute dresses!

Sabine, yay to you coming over officially! I swear I''m having a harder time keeping quiet about you being preggo than I am about me! I''d call your OB right away. Some want you to come in early for blood confirmations while other want to wait until later for the first appointment. Either way, it can''t hurt to call now. I haven''t had any Rx changes yet, but I''ve definitely heard that it can happen. Thanks about the dresses! I''ll most likely be wearing the black and white one to both of our showers.

PS - You guys soooo need to move back to the burgh now so that we can both go to eachother''s showers and see the babies right after they''re born. Keeping my fingers crossed for deferment and a residency in town.

Yay Sabine!! I''m so excited for you! And how great for you and Robbie to get preggers togethers! I thought it was so cute how yall were apart of each others weddings.

Robbie, those dresses are too cute! The one from Pea in a Pod makes me cringe though..thinking of it on me, that is! My arms are getting so huge.

I took a trip to Sonic for an orange cream slush and it is just what I needed. Ahhh..heaven in a cup.

Sabine- welcome! So excited for u and glad to have u here :) IMO there is no need to go to ob right away..I would call and ask all the ?''s ...I drove the secretary nuts but that''s ok...I asked about ins, hospital, when to come for u/s etc. Maybe they will tel u to come in but in any case call first with the ?''s ;) good luck..sticky dust to u !

Pandora- thanks for the tip..will try the heat method and also ask ob tom for some advice about the back and nerve.
Wish me luck 2mor on u/s ;)

WELCOME SABINE!!!!

Don''t worry, it took my DH awhile to get used to the idea and get excited too (even though he was totally gung ho about TTC). Now he''s reading stories to my belly and the whole shebang. Men just need awhile sometimes.

I''ll see what I can answer for you.

1. Eye Doctor: Your eyes can change and often eye doctors don''t like to examine you while preggo because of it. Mine didn''t change at all, but I snuck into the doctor without telling them I was preggo because I really needed to get new lenses for my glasses and no one would do them without a new prescription. So worst comes to worst, just know that your prescription can change AND can change back after you deliver. I would just go and not tell them and just be aware that your prescription might change personally. When you get there tell them you are preggo though because they won''t dilate your eyes for some reason.

2. OB: Yes, I would call ASAP especially if the OB you like is in demand and you aren''t a current patient. In order to get in with mine I called RIGHT away at 4 weeks because usually I see his NP and wanted to make sure I got him as my doctor.

3. Insurance: You should be fine as long as there is no disruption in plans and you are moving from a group plan to another group plan. If possible the one thing you''ll want to make sure of is that your doctor that you choose accepts both insurance plans, unless you''ll be moving out of state/the area in which case as soon as you know where you are moving I would try to get a recommendation for a new doctor so you can book an appointment far out.

Congrats Sabine!!! That''s wonderful news!!!

Congrats Sabine! Welcome to the preggo thread - sending lots of sticky vibes your way and wishing you well on this amazing journey you're about to undertake. Rest lots, take it easy and enjoy the ride :)

Congrats Sabine.

As for calling the doctor, it would be good soon to get on the prenatals.

I found that everything was scheduled pretty quickly for me. I took the test on the 10/31, first appointment was on 11/6, second was on 11/10 (both for blood), and then we were able to see the baby''s heartbeat today. Next appointment is in 4 weeks.

I''ve been trying to get a photo scanned but it didn''t come out too well. Either way introducing my bean!

Yay, Fiery!

This was a good day as far as maternity clothes go for me. I went to visit my friend who just had her baby and she gave me a bag full of maternity clothes. She gave me 8 shirts, 1 zip up hoodie, 1 swim cover up and one pair of old navy drawstring maternity pants. I love her. LOL. Now I just have to hope that my boobs don''t get much bigger or some of the shirts might not fit for too long. I''m loving the jeans. They say size 1, which I never was pre-pregnancy, so not only are they comfy, but they''re making me feel skinny. LOL.

Robbie,

Are you feeling the bloat? Have you started wearing maternity yet, or are you planning ahead?

One friend of mine started wearing maternity clothes like two weeks after she found out she was pregnant (she was about 7 weeks along at the time). It was so funny, but cute too, because she was so excited. I suspect I may want to do the same thing, but I''m hoping to have more restraint.

Good morning!

DrK,

Happy birthday! Not sure if it''s today or tomorrow, so I''ll wish it early, just in case.

Robbie you inspired me to bite the bullet and buy some maternity clothes last night. Can I just say that maternity clothes must be the ugliest, most expensive clothes on the planet? Actually there are tons of cute tees and such, but not a ton of stuff that I could wear to work.

So hopefully this will work -- I bought a number of basic maternity long sleeve v-neck and crew tees, v-neck sweaters, and turtlenecks. Then I bought a few maternity tops from Ann Taylor Loft, but I also bought several dressy/casual jackets from the normal AT Loft hoping I can just wear them unbuttoned and open over my maternity tops. That will make the outfits dressier for work. There were good deals to be had though -- AT Loft is having a sale on pretty much all of their items (the jackets I bought were already 40% off), and then I found a 20% off coupon code online. Then I bought a 20% coupon for the gap on eBay and the lady e-mailed me the coupon code right away. So at least I saved some $$$.

Anyone else have an idea for work appropriate maternity clothes? I know that everyone seems to love Old Navy maternity but there didn''t seem to be much in the way of work clothes. A Pea in the Pod had a lot of sweaters I could wear, but they''re all like $300 which would be tough since I need more than 2 or 3

I agree with you about Old Navy. I don''t have any suggestions about work clothes except to try the Gap online.

I''m 17 weeks right now and I''ve been loving American Eagle. All their sweaters and tees are long, so I just buy mediums and they work perfectly. They always seem to have a sale.
