Calling all the Pregnant PS''ers

Congratulations Mela! Welcome to the world Romeo!

I'm sorry that you had to have a c-section. Rest up and take care of yourself and the baby.

See you on the Mommy thread!

Ok, so I added a few of you...but have no idea who you''re!!!...haha. I basically added you if I saw we had mutual PSers

Yay for new fb friends!

Amber, that sucks! Sounds like we''re kinda in the same boat as far as how many names are off limits, though I guess it''s a little harder for you since 6 of your 11 aren''t born yet! I got pregnant knowing what my name limitations were, lol.

Fiery, we have a Graco SafeSeat and like it so far. Not that we''ve done anything with it other than stare at it, lol. We got it in eclipse. The pattern''s been discontinued so it was on sale at BRU and then we used a 15% off coupon on top of that.

Peony, have you tried changing what you''re eating? Switching to whole milk from skim, switching out some water for juice (the kind that''s really juice though), regular yogurt instead of light, etc? If your doc isn''t worried about the lack of weight gain, I wouldn''t worry about it. I think our bodies have a tendency to do what they need to do and if you''re eating enough, then that''s really all you can do. Plus, just because you''re not gaining doesn''t mean the babies aren''t! You could be losing from all the extra work your body''s doing while they gain making it seem like nothing is happening.

Speaking of weight gain/body image, I flipped out at my mom yesterday when we went to Curves. It was time for a weigh and measure (I''ve kept up with it so that I can see how much progress I make after baby comes) and my mom started walking over to the scale with me. I''ve told her before that my weight is really none of her business unless I bring it up and choose to share it with her. I''m up 32 lbs at just over 35 weeks. Not awful, but not great either. Unless I just stop gaining, I''ll be overshooting the 25-35 lbs range most likely. Definitely not something I want to shout from the roof tops. I''ve gained an inch in my chest from last month, but the cups of my bras still fit, so all that rib pain was definitely my ribs expanding. I can''t wear my bra that''s a 32 anymore so I''m now down to 1 that fits. Belly''s a few inches bigger, arms the same and a slight increase in my thighs which I was already aware of from putting on pants.
14.gif
I went to put my shoes on afterwards and my mom says something along the lines of "Well you definitely look bigger!" She makes a comment like this EVERY time she sees me. I see her multiple times a week so it''s really annoying and I told her so. She replied with something about how it just means the baby is growing and I yelled at her that me being bigger means nothing other than I''m bigger and I''d appreciate it if she''d just stop commenting on it. She got so offended and started telling me that it''s weird for me to not be proud of my pregnant belly and how she doesn''t know any pregnant woman who would be offended by being told that they look bigger or by her asking how much they''ve gained. I told her she''s nuts and just about EVERY pregnant woman I know complains about those very things! It''s not like I hate my belly or anything, but there''s a big difference to me between comments like "pregnancy suits you well, you look great, your belly is so cute, etc" and "you look like you''re ready to pop (nope, got a month left, thanks though), you''re huge, you''re bigger, etc." I told DH the next person who says something along those lines is getting smacked.

And speaking of DH, he just emailed me that Simon Jacob is his favorite name of the day. Uh, DH, I suggested Simon forever ago and you vetoed it! He keeps going back to things he supposedly hated before. Oh well. I like Simon. Not as much as Desmond or Wesley, but I still like it. I have a feeling this kid''s name is just going to depend on what we''re feeling that day.

So, this talk about moisturizer and stretch marks has me wondering... how early does one need to start with the lotion?

Robbie, I do things like that a lot... I''ll forget when/where I saw something and then totally think it was my idea ;) drives me nuts when I figure out that it wasn''t, lol.

be back in a bit for a more responsive post :)

I hear you Robbie. I think your mom meant well, but it just didn''t come out right.

My dad is the one driving me insane. When I announced I was pregnant, one of the first things he said was to watch my weight. Seriously???. I told him with twins I had to gain more, etc, etc and he said that was all non-sense. Yesterday I made a comment of how my belly measures like 5 weeks ahead, and he asked if that was normal or if I was just putting on way too much weight. Leave me alone!!! Again, my rule would apply nicely here...no uterus, no opinion!

I don''t know why people think it is any of their business. It''s obviously something each person has to deal with and we''re all different...if they have nothing nice to say, then say nothing at all.

And for the record, you do have the cutest belly EVAHHH!!!

woohooo, so many FB friends now

OK I added some people I found on FB! I hope you all don''t mind but I created a limited profile for PS friends to keep myself a little more anonymous! But you can see pics of Hunter and me and DH! I know that is what I like to see of all your guys!

Mandarine, my dad is the same way. "Your mother gained so much weight with you, you DO know you don''t need to gain a lot, right?" Me: "Dad, back THEN, 20 pounds was considered a lot, and don''t worry, I have a DOCTOR to tell me how I''m doing, and if she''s not worried, you have no right to be". He''s CONSTANTLY harping on me, commenting on what I eat, asking me if my doctor is "worried", or if she''s watching me. It''s REALLY REALLY hurtful.

I know!!!...my dad is so good about everything else and we get along great...but when it comes to weight he really drives me up the wall. When I gained so much weight in college (over 10 years ago!) dealing with my family was the hardest part. Isn''t that awful?.

My sister gained a bunch with both pregnancies (over 60 lbs) and lost it all...so maybe he thinks I''ll gain double that or something...but regardless, not really his business if I do. As long as the Drs say I''m ok, then he should just not make comments like that.

I''m eating super healthy (just a lot!) so it''s not like I''m out there munching on fast food or something. I don''t even remember the last time I had fast food!.

I think that is why I have issues with this...I blame my family! hehe

I wake up and find everyone having a Facebook-finding party! What else did I miss? The one morning I'm actually able to sleep in without baby feet in ribs.

Mandarine- It sounds like you're right on target for weight gain. If I've learned anything about pregnancy, it's that your body will gain what it needs to for those babies. Sometimes you feel in control of it, and sometimes you won't, but don't worry- you'll be back to tiny after delivering in no time, especially if you're an active person regularly.

China- LOL, you're right! The streak is broken! I had 'info' this time, though- it's my gut guesses for others that are usually wrong. Oh, and I'm also totally a food-spiller! Every time we go out to eat now, I have to ask the waiter for extra napkins to practically cover myself. I drop things a lot, too. Pregnancy has made me clumsier than ever.

Amber- You and I are already FB friends.
9.gif
I'm glad to hear the cortisone is working. When I get itchy, I use pure shea butter- it might be worth a try? Do you also have red bumps with the itchiness? As for the name Jack, if you love it, I think it should be fair game. After all, she's using it as a middle, right? Jack is such a great name. I've loved it forever.

fiery- So far, we like the Snugride! It seemed easy to install, and it's a nice, neutral palette- black and tan (the pattern is called "Platinum"). DH thought it was funny that the tag toward the bottom of the seat says "luxury foam." Because a baby should ride in style and ultimate comfort.
10.gif
The only downside I can see is that it only goes to 22 lbs while the Keyfit goes to 30, but the fact that it snaps into our UppaBaby frame with a converter finally won us over.

Peony- I know it's hard, but try not to worry! As long as you're eating well, those babies are fine. I didn't gain much until the end of the second tri, and then I started to gain pretty regularly. Every woman gains differently.

fabienne- Happy belated due date! How are you feeling?

Robbie- I understand just how you feel. At the grocery store a week or so ago, the checkout girl actually gasped when she saw me. I know she didn't mean any harm, but some (most?) people just don't understand the difference between nice comments and ones that can be hurtful. You'd think it'd be obvious that no, we don't need to be told how big we're getting- we've been experiencing the growth for months now!- but people really can be that clueless. Judging from photos, you've got the perfect pregnant belly. Seriously.

This week is sort of a busy one for the husband and me. He had his Dads only parenting class yesterday, and tomorrow, we have a doctors appointment. The day after, we meet with the pediatrician for the first time. I don't think I've ever met with a doctor before without an exam.

The nursery is coming along, slowly but surely. We went fabric shopping for our panel project, and when we got home, I was too swollen and sore to put anything together, so J got out the staple gun and went to work! They look really cute so far, but we want to get a few more fabric swatches and they still need to be hung.

Phew. That was long. I hope I didn't miss anyone!

Mandarine, when I'm around my family they put out fruit and stuff instead of the usual chip and dip platter- we didn't even get DIP! Veggies and no dip. What do they think I'm going to do, get a spoon and start shoveling? God. Just because I'm pregnant, it doesn't mean I'm going to immediately go for something unhealthy. I think it's because I unexpectedly gained a ton of weight a few years ago after being trim. It's not like I haven't gone to various doctors to find out why- I've had my blood tested so many times it's not even funny. It's like they don't trust my judgment.

Ebree- Hi!! Luckily, no red bumps, just red lines from my nails. It's terrible. My belly button is itching so badly, and the skin around it, too. I am prone to eczema, so I heard I'm more likely to be itchier during pregnancy? Bummer!

Happy Tuesday ladies! Glad Monday is behind us. I always seem to feel worst on Mondays. Not sure why...

Okay, for FB, I am too lazy and apparently inept to look for people. If people want to find me, you can find my first name in my wedding thread, and my last name is the name of a rental car company here in the states that starts with an H. I doubt anyone will go through the trouble, since I am not a regular poster, but it would be nice to "see" you ladies someplace other than PS.

As for weight gain, I was really starting to stress out about it, but I think I am giving up on letting it stress me too much. I was up 18 lbs at my 23 week appointment, which is a lot, but 5 of those lbs were gained in the first couple of weeks when my thyroid got out of wack. I am trying to be mindful of what I eat and not turn unto a gluttonous pig. Becuase I was bigger before I got PG, my doctor reccommended gaining between 22 and 27 lbs. It looks like I''ll sail past that, but I''m hoping to keep it under 35.

I''ve already started getting comments on how big I am, which is annoying. One of my friend that I saw on Friday told me I was as big as she was at 7 months. Now, this is a girl who gained 70 lbs when she was pregnant (as much as 14 lbs in one month!), and she must have been dilluted about how big she was. I was offended, but my DH told me not to worry about it. Most of the weight seems to be in my stomach, although the chest area is starting to get out of control!

I find it surprising how many people here have an anterior placenta. When I mention it to my friends with kids, no one knows what the heck I am talking about! I was starting to believe it was kind of uncommon, but it''s nice to know it''s more common than I''ve been led to believe.

Robbie - We were watching Princess Bride last night, too, and I mentioned the name Wesley to my DH. He liked it! Doubt we will use it, but I still thought it was funny. I would LOL of like 5 of use ended up with sons named Wesley now. Picking names is hard, especially when you are at the age when all of your friends/family are having kids, and you can''t use the same thing as them. Right now we have our names narrowed down to Elijah and Jeremiah. Middle name for both would be Thomas, after my dad.

So, I started thinking last night about all the people who seem to move when they are pregnant. I have no idea how you ladies do it! We started cleaning out some stuff to make room for the baby, and that is enough of a stress as it is! I guess my MIL wants to buy the crib already, since she has a coupon for BRU that expires Thursday. So we are going to have to figure out where to put it for now. The room is nowhere near ready, so I think it is going to be sitting in the box for at least a month. Of course we live in a pretty tiny place, so a huge box will be cumbersome enough!

I don''t know why I am so chatty today. Must be all the sugar in that fruit smoothie my DH made me for breakfast!

Mela, Congrats on Romeo! I cannot wait to see pictures and I hope you are healing well and enjoying your new son.

I had my 16 week appt yesterday and all went well. We heard the heartbeat and made our appt to find out the sex on JUne 26th - DH''s 30th b-day. We are taking the day off, so we''ll find out the sex in the morning, I''ll take him to lunch and we''ll spend the day together. I''ll be counting down the days. I have no idea what I am having, but there hasn''t been a girl born in DH''s family for 3 generations, so he is convinced it''s a boy. Our current names are James Julian or Chase Henry for a boy or Olivia Grace for a girl. I know Olivia is getting super popular, but I have wanted to name my daughter Olivia since I was 12, and I just can''t find another name I like.

I am so jealous of all of you finding one another on Facebook. I actually don''t have an account, although all my friends do. At first I refused since it seemed like something for teenagers, but now everyone I know is on it. I might have to break down soon and sign up.

Mandarine, Don''t stress about the weight gain. You are having twins and you look fabulous in your pictures. Your dr. will tell you if you are gaining too much, so tell everyone else to leave you alone! I feel your pain though. Yesterday I weighed in at an all time high for me and told my mom - her response - "that is heavy for you!" Umm, yeah, I am pregnant.

China, Good luck with the move into your new place.

Robbie, I love all your names! A family friend just named their baby Simon and he''s such a cutie.

Amber, my skin is super dry as well, I am a sucker and bought one of those pregnancy stretch mark creams. I am sure it''s the same as regular lotion, but it''s super thick and smells so good. I love pure cocoa butter as well, unfortunately DH hates the smell and I tend to slather myself with lotion before bed, so I bought this other cream so as not to drive him nuts.

Robbie-While I''m positive your mom meant well, I can 100% relate to being tired of comments. Every time FI''s family makes a comment (his family has taken to calling me "gordita" meaning "fatty") he turns to me and just repeats ''it''s almost over''

Ebree-Did you ever post your bedding on here? I''d love to see what you ended up choosing. I think boy bedding is just so adorable.

Hi So Cal Girl
35.gif
. I can''t do searches on mobile for some reason (or I don''t know how to).

hope everyone is having a good day......one of my friends who is grossly overweight commented on how "huge" i look and then proceeded to go on and on about it....i could have said something evil
11.gif
about her non pregnant stomach being 2x the size of mine, but i bit my tounge. so far i''ve gained 32 pounds and my doc says its fine because all of my blood work and everything else has been great--which he says must mean i''m eating healthy
9.gif
....as long as he doesn''t find out about my new choc/marachino cherry ice obsession
31.gif
.
i love the name sofia and he likes it but doesnt want people to call her sofie...so he''s having a nickname issue with it....i told him if our 2 yr. old can say it so can eveyone else....but he''s not keen on it
7.gif
. he also doesn''t like my other 5-6 name choices so its been annoying trying to think of new names you like when in your mind you already know what you want.
32.gif
anyone else having this issue?

Weight gain - IMHO you really don''t have much control over it. I lost weight in the first tri due to really bad m/s, but piled it on in the latter half of the second and during the third trimester despite eating no more than I ever do.

I literally went from 134lbs to 202lbs, so a gain of 68lbs which is way more than they recommend, although the hospital just said that as long as I looked in proportion and my BP and glucose levels were fine then they weren''t concerned at all. This morning I weighed 150lbs, so I have lost 52lbs in 15 days. I''m back in all my pre-pregnancy clothes and just have a bit of a bump left - of the 14/15 weeks variety - where my tummy muscles are currently absent... and that is without any exercise or dieting of any sort.

I''m pretty sure most of it was just water retention, as I now have ankles and knees again and all my weight seemed to be in the bump. My parents took photos two days before I went into labour, so I''ll post before and after shots when I get them!

Itchy skin/stretch marks - No amount of moisturiser will prevent stretchmarks (they''re genetic) - but it does really help with the itchiness. I found the new Vaseline Gel with cocoa butter the best of all the ones I tried. DH also bought me some Agent Provocateur massage oil that was pretty good as well (and smelled amazing). The vaseline stuff doesn''t absorb very fast which is nice as it stops the itching for hours unlike many others.

Anyone else having issues with spilling food? All of a sudden I can''t eat anything without it ended up on my stomach. Lovely. I have never been this clumsy before, it''s weird!

Haha, it''s like your belly and boobs are food magnet.
That happened to me too.

I think I''m in for it in a few months... my boobs have always seemed to catch my dribbles and they''re only going to expand from here

Hee...I always thought pregnant women were so "slovenly" until it happened to me! Nothing sexier than walking around with goop all over your shirt stretched over a santa belly (I''m talking about me, not anyone else btw!) I kept thinking, where is this "inner glow" I am supposed to be feeling? I''m fat and stained!!

***Message from Mela***

We''re going home tonight. Romeo is thriving now and feeding like a champ. Hoping to get online tomorrow. Thinking of you all ;)

Eeeek I''m soooo excited to be able to see a picture of Romeo!!!!

NYC- I love the name Sophia, but I do think that Sophie might be tough nn to ward off. Do you think it will bother DH if it just "happens" later on?

Weight gain- I wasn''t too worried, but now my cousin is due just a few weeks behind me and although I would NEVER admit this IRL, I''m worried that my fam will be comparing us
8.gif
This is her second though, and I know in my brain that everyone is different, it''s just hard to wrap my head around sometimes!

Amber- so Riley is out? Any other ideas?

Mandarine- I know you know this, but you look FAB!!! don''t let your fam get to you
38.gif

EBree- I hope you''ll post pics of your project when you''re done. Sounds very cute.

so cal- shame on your friend! I like Elijah and Jeremiah, good choices.

Sweet Pea. Riley is still in the running, but so far we''re out of names other than that, Andrew (Drew, not Andy) and Ferris. It''s too hard!

so cal girl- Thumbs up to both Elijah and Jeremiah!

November- James is one of my favorite boy names of all time. I like it with Julian, too! It's exciting to have a date for the big 'sex reveal,' isn't it?

fiery- We have no bedding. Actually, that's not true- we have a Breathable Baby Bumper in blue and a couple of 'Ultimate Crib Sheets.' I think we're going to get a few sets of cotton sheets in blues and greens and if we find cuter bedding down the road, we'll buy it. Until then, kiddo gets a mix-and-match set. What about you?

sweet pea- Thank you! I'll definitely post a photo or two once we've got everything up.

Amber- I really like Andrew (with the nn Drew)! Apparently, it means "strong and manly."
9.gif
What would his middle name be?

Super glad to hear mela and family are heading home and Romeo is thriving!

Did we discuss diaper bags already? I got one from Pottery Barn long before I was pregnant, but ordered another one recently from Skip Hop- the Duo. Not too pricey, good reviews, but what do I know? Anyone have any experience with Skip Hop products? I think I'm going to eBay the first one I bought.

Just popping in to say.... Congrats Mela! Can''t wait to hear the deets!

and....

I WAS RIGHT ABOUT ROMEO! WOO-HOO!

Woohoo....that''s great news Mela!
Can''t wait to see your little guy and hear your birth story.

In case some of you don''t check the mommy thread.

Congrats to Fabienne!!
She had her baby boy on Friday 5/29. He was 8 lbs 11 ounces; 20 inches.

RE: Bedding You really won''t use those huge bedding sets...so unless you have money to burn I''d find a fabric you like and get someone to whip you up a cute crib skirt and then find some coordinating sheets. I made crib skirts out of this adorable fabric and it was VERY easy and VERY cheap.

That''s a good idea, neat!

fabienne- Congratulations!
