Cushion modified brilliant vs Old miner help

Did you see this?

caveat: definitely not an expert, let's hope the people who really know things weigh in

I actually really like it. It's an older omc that's a little more rustic than yours @newtojewels

It's very white facing and quite pretty. It doesn't have much kozibe and I suspect the crown isn't as puffy either but it's a nice make. It just depends on what you like.

Oh wow! Thank you for sharing! I'm not sure I'm in love with that one but I really appreciate you all keeping an eye out for me! :)

I'm looking for one that has the classic romantic sparkle!! I think the shape of this one is a bit off to me :')

Please keep them coming because I'm still trying to find my perfect one!!! <3

Okay I looked at the video of the JBG one again and I think it has lots of light leakage. The sunlight is probably the best lighting and you can see lots of facets going dark at the same time (although it could just be obstruction from something blocking the light). I think your option B is still a better stone and has a prettier faceting.

I am still waiting to see it in person! But just worried about potential darkness with my option B! :(

If it's anything like my stone you have nothing to worry about!

When are you seeing it in person? Here's a photo of my stone but I swear it doesn't look like that ever.

The stone I just got looked like this in some of my photos and I'm like ?????how?????? because it absolutely isn't like that in real life. I think for those of use who aren't Inked, HS4S_2, Kenny, etc. the camera conspires against us.

Hopefully you see your Option B soon and love it, @peachflower!

I'm glad to say that my photography and videography skills are better than the vendors photos/videos hahaha. They have improved dramatically since getting my HG stone lol.

Then maybe mine will too! I'll need to learn how to show my stone off!

On a sunny day and under a tree works best for me. But even on an overcast day it's still pretty! Just need to zoom in! Sometimes the photo setting doesn't show it's true colours so I just do videos now haha. And start an insta account just for your bling lol.

Both of your stones are beautiful!

I am seeing the stone on Friday! Will definitely post pictures here to get input! Hoping you all can help me gauge if the warmth is not too bad :')

Thank you so much!

We're going to be patiently refreshing this page on Friday lol.

And we're probably biased (well most of us are) cause we love a bit of warmth!

@lulu_ma @maryjane04 and whoever else wanted to see the stone!! I stuck it onto a sterling silver ring of mine. Hopefully this link works:

Would love input on the warmth/faceting/anything!! I definitely see the warmth from certain angles and in certain lighting but I really love it! Need help deciding if I go with this or keep searching!

Okay I just took a quick look.. it looks pretty white and bright. I think it would suit a white metal/platinum. Do you have any ideas of how to set it?

Do you have any videos of it? I only saw photos. Lol hang on my Imgur is being funny.. I think there's videos.. I'll try to reload.. it's not working for me boo. Okay I worked it out lol opened it on a browser instead. I think it's really lovely. It's very white for an old cut. The facets are nice. The darkness you see is obstruction mainly from something directly in front of the stone or under the stone when attached to the ring.

What did you think of it? I actually think even from the thumbnails that I've seen its really nice.

Does the warmth bother you?

Faceting looks gorgeous! If you like the color, this one looks like a winner to me.

I think it's very pretty, and looks white to me and fine with white metal. If it ticks all your boxes, then go for it.

Sorry, somehow I missed this thread!!! That’s a beautiful L OMC. I adore her shape and how white facing she is! I’m very color sensitive, my favorite colors are I/J/K…. This L though… and she’s 3cts!!!! YES GIRL!!! Super excited for you! :kiss2:

Ummm, a thousand times YES!

Ok, now that that’s decided…. scrolling back to see your ideas for setting her, lol!

Definitely keep us posted on what you decide!

YES!!! White metal! ❤️

I think if you decide to go with the L, I’m really liking the 18K unplated white gold. It has *just* a touch of warmth to the metal that would complement the warmth in the diamond.

I’m not sure if you are ready for setting ideas, but here you go, lol! You mentioned you weren’t sure about all the “all those those tiny prongs” and were open to a bevel. I am one that prefers to see an old cut stone in something that is antique inspired if not antique itself but it’s also nice to every once in a while, see something with a modern twist to it, and the first thing I thought of was this Single Stone setting. I’m not sure if Single Stone takes outside stones but you could always go a custom route with someone, like DK or CVB and use it as a starting point to making a setting your own. I also love when you can see the side profile of a diamond. Here’s a link to a ton of pictures and videos of the setting.

Here’s a few other settings that I spotted while I was scrolling through my albums I need to thin down, lol! All of these would be great options for protecting the girdle.IMG_2602.pngIMG_2603.pngIMG_2604.jpegIMG_2601.jpegIMG_2600.jpegIMG_2599.jpegIMG_2327.pngIMG_2326.pngIMG_2312.jpegIMG_1316.jpegIMG_1315.jpeg

Yes, the last two have prongs, but they were just a little different than your normal prongs so I had to include them, you know… for research purposes

It’s stunning and the color and cut are amazing. It’s a very old diamond, likely cut before 1880. You are so lucky to have found it and you must keep it!

I would set it in platinum which is what it deserves. Either with a platinum or gold shank if you like two-tone.

I feel like we're friends getting similar stones at the same time! They should have a play date!

If yours is anything like the one I got, the photos and videos really don't do it justice. What do you think when you look at it?

Thank you all for the input! I DO LIKE HER A LOT :') She definitely does show warmth and I'm still trying to figure out if I'm okay with it. (I am leaning towards yes right now!)
The walls of your home are vanilla which will emphasize the tint btw.
My walls are actually a light grey :') So would that make it look whiter than it really is... :'''')

Haha omg yes I love that! :')
I think it's a beautiful stone and I love how it sparkles SO MUCH! Idk why I still feel worried about tint and darkness!! :( Maybe I need to sleep on it.

I just wonder if I'd be sadder if I come across a whiter stone or sadder to lose out on this one...

I had the same thing with the warmth but realized that I would never be willing to pay for a G-H in the size range I wanted, if I could even find one with a nice facet pattern so anything was going to have some tint and it's a matter of priorities. You know this, I'm just reiterating!

I'm planning to buy an ASET just for fun. Would you have time within the return policy to order one too? I'm wondering if that would help give you a sanity check on the cut. Do you have any high-end antique stores near you? Have you seen it in all of the lighting in your life yet?

Some people may say that you don't sound 100% sold because that happened to me! I'm the kind of person who takes some time to really feel committed and excited about a decision. Are you that kind of person or someone who usually knows right away?
