Help picking diamond kay-

I can’t imagine spending the 21k on a lab and then in the future another 30k for bigger mined ☹️

Oh No! A lab should be way cheaper and a placeholder if you wana bank credit to use when you find a mined you like. If they mark up labs too much then forget that, or at least forget buying it from them.

I'm inclined to agree with the others: stick with a natural/earth grown diamond for now, given the situation.

If you do want to target LGD...
Eh, this one looks okay-ish, but I have high confidence that this one is a blue nuance:

If you want to consider RBC I found this one, although it is a CVD that appears to lean slightly brownish-pink:

Kay's LGD prices are horrendous for what is being offered, in my opinion.

Agreed. Don't biy an lgd from Kay's, the pricing is even more horrible than for their natural

Yup - ~$5800 gets a Whiteflash fully vetted LGD D-E VS1+ 2.9x carats round or D-F VS1+ 2.5+ carats oval today.

They are truly making this so difficult I keep hitting myself in the head for not doing research

Totally understand. But there are genuinely some decent stuff we've shown you within the 21k mark. Just buy something and be done with it. Don't expect to recoup your costs. Just expect to get a pendant or something made

Yes I’m going to try and get something no more then 25k because I know just know I will always want the look of a 2.5-3 carat. I wish their lab prices were decent to get a big lab and then a wedding band ☹️

Will talk to them Monday to pull the H and see if they have any recommendations I will keep you guys posted thank you all!!

Ps. Anyone know if their tennis necklace are good/worth it

Just try to think of it this way

Tennis necklaces are definitely not worth it! Like $8999 for 3 ctw tennis necklace in 10 kt gold? In comparison you can get this 4 ctw necklace for $3145.

Might be best at this point to just use the 21k credit as a pendant stone and then jump over to the MMD forum and hunt for the perfect 3+ ct Lab Oval Ring at ANOTHER JEWELER. Personally I only buy "Old School Jager Blues" and they still sell at a discount so I'd convert the store credit to a 2ct+ D with Med or Strong Fluor Eye Clean SI in a Round or Elongated Pear Pendant stone and never go back to Kays....

My advice is to spend ONLY what you have sunk already in a single natural diamond at Kay’s that is cut very well. That is the best use of those funds. Then spend $5k and get an absolutely massive lab oval. The people in the lab forum will help you choose.

I agree with this. Get as nice of a pendant as you can for the money you already have sunk. Then, buy a huge lab for your ring. If you want, when you have more funds down the road, you can replace your lab ring for a mined stone, and you'll still have the nice pendant to show for your money.

the 21K is a sunk cost, the money is 'their' hands, it doesn't sound like you will ever get the $$ back; thus I (personally) would either find the best single diamond, round, pear, and use it in a pendant OR get the best earrings/bracelet(s)/right hand ring (multiple stones) and just be done with Kay. Then I would take 'some' of the proposed 'extra $10K and use it to buy a setting and a large, beautiful LAB diamond.

I still recommend getting the 2 ct oval for a ring and adding a contour band with the extra store credit. A good band can really add to finger coverage.

Whoops meant to post here .

Update. Still waiting to hear back to see if they let me exchange for other things instead of just 1 diamond …

1- Should I do a round diamond? But Is buying a 2carat round diamond at $20k to use as a necklace pretty reasonable ? Seems spendy for a necklace?

2- exchange for multiple things like wedding band, earrings or diamond tennis necklace

3- or should I just exchange for another and keep a natural oval?

I am willing to sacrifice ratio to 1.45-1.54 if it gives me a bigger diamond

Please don't buy a diamond tennis necklace from them. Based on my research those are marked up even more than the diamonds.

I personally would not spend over $20K for necklace. With your $21k budget, I would get the best natural diamond for a ring possible.

Are you open to other diamond shapes for a ring?

ETA:
This one posted popped up and I *think* it is underpriced for Kays! 2.2 ctw and right on budget!

Thank you! No my heart is set on an oval especially because it’s the shape he had given me originally I just wanted to upgrade size☹️

Im open to ratio of 1.45-1.55

So you think it’s better to get another diamond vs a round diamond for necklace and spending $5k on a lab oval?

I edited my post! Snag this one! 10.91 mm long!

Yes, get this one. I actually like it!

Omg yay!! Ok I’ll pull this and the h

It doesn’t look pointy on ends?

Should I do a round to if those don’t work out? Or no?

I think you will love one of these! Doesn't sound like you will love a round.

I called her to see if we can pull it!!! She didn’t call me back but I hope she does in the morning fingers crossed!!

Would you guys be willing to help find a round diamond to have set as pendant necklace as well in case that oval Diamond doesn’t work?

Thank you!!

Let’s wait and see what happens with this oval. It looks promising. I like the shape.

- also for the round I’m thinking price to use up all my credit or smaller pendant and then buying a wedding band with the remaining

Do not buy a wedding band from Kay. The diamonds will be lackluster. The only thing I would buy is the diamond itself

I was thinking if we dont like the oval in person then I could just take the round diamond for necklace and be done?

Yes but one step at a time!

Hopefully you will love one of the ovals.

Personally, I like to spend more money on rings and bracelets where I can see the diamonds frequently. I like necklaces, too, but I just tend to spend less on them. But that's just me.
