Help picking diamond kay-

Ahhh the 2.24 or the 2.53!? Which might look better for necklace ?

I’d ask them to call in both for you to see along with the oval. Then you can decide which you love. And I’d wear what you choose in a ring. See what you think!

I’m new so what do you mean by the 2.53 being weird? Lol the proportions?

Yeah the proportions are not the typical ideal. But they could still work. I would expect this diamond to have lots of bold chunky flashes of light and tons of fire. It would be my pick, if it was eye clean. I love chunky bold fire in my diamonds.

In case you need another oval. This one is very similar in specs to the one that is no longer available.

Thoughts on this one? Not sure about it...

I like the first oval a little better, of these two.

@alexeliass you should ask them to call in 2 ovals and 2 rounds for you. Then let your eyes and heart pick.

Okay i color diamond was pulled!!!

I need to look this up and see what it means!

Fire is coloured light. You see it in bright sunlight and in high spot lights like Costco or jewelry stores.

The 2.53 has a very high crown and is cut so it will produce a lot of fire compared to a more balanced style of cut.

The 2.53 also has big fat arrows because of how short the lower pavilion facets are. Just 70% (many diamonds are 75-80).

Together this means the 2.53 will be like a disco ball with big broad flashes of light.

The 2.24 is a little more traditional in its proportions so it will look a little more splintery and bright white and a little less contrast (patterns of black and white on the diamond).

Your eyes will tell you what’s you like better.

Where could I find a video that shows that? Very new to round cuts

Here is what the 2.53 could look a little like. This is my diamond in spot lighting showing what bold flash looks like.

Yes kay ordered for me to see!

Wow thank you so much for the video!

Which one? And do you mean Kay’s has it for you to see?

And here is a video comparing a well cut round diamond to a crappy one. We are recommending diamonds that will look like the one on the left.

But remember you only see fire in some lighting. Most of the time well cut diamonds look bright and white and have patterns of dark and light. Here is a video of well cut round diamonds in natural daylight.

Oval compared to round

Note that the arrows look black because they are reflecting the camera which is black. In real life those black arrows reflect what’s in front of them which can be all kinds of colors.

Looks like Rare Carat has it for 17.3K . So actually he price at Kay’s isn’t no awful for that particular diamond.

Indeed Kay's mark up not too bad..... Allurez is asking 23.5k for it

Wow this is all so fascinating my daughter says she likes the rainbow sparkles lol would that 2.53 I still look good shining as a pendant necklace? I’m just set on an oval as E ring.

Would be a killer necklace! I’d still wear it as a ring though. On my right hand. But you can decide when you see it. And you can always reset later.

PS the 2.53 is a J color. Just to clarify.

Sorry I’m clearly still thinking about the I lol

Ok left voicemail to see if I can pull both H and J!!

Whatever route I get I’m thinking about going with adiamor for the settings! ?

And if I do decide to go for a lab diamond, I was thinking about going with adiamor or Whiteflash

I like to have plans or semi planned out he really helps with my anxiety and just feeling more mentally organized.
This whole process started in November so I really just wanted to be done. I’m sure you guys do too. You’ve been along for the ride!

My daughter needed new earrings so I took advantage and tried on a 3 carat! (First time trying on) and I can’t believe how huge it looked on me
Here’s a 3 carat then I tried on a 1.5 (they didn’t have anything in between)

I also attached previous sizes I’ve tried on

EDIT- I think my fav size is 2.50-2.80 thoughts?

The 2.69 was 11.62x7.54
2.00 was 10.59x7.03IMG_9853.png

That 3ct looks about right!

What did you think of the 2.20 I/VVS??!

Still waiting for it to get here! they called us yesterday that they pulled it but they don’t have confirmation if it’s ours to see yet it takes about 24 to 72 hours?

What did you think of the 2.20 I/VVS??!

Dang. The H 2.24 round is no longer available thinking of doing the Round 2.01 Carat H SI2 Ideal Diamond and the 2.53?

Or how would an emerald cut or pear diamond look?

Ok I’m going to put myself out there. And the reason as to why I don’t think I could do a round Diamond as a ring is because that’s the one my mom had with a think gold band as a ring. He was a terrible person who did terrible things and he’s the reason the last 2 years have been so hard healing from suppressed trauma of when I was a young. I know it might just be a ring but to me it brings me flashbacks of her ring from him. He died right before my daughter was born (I can't help but think it was for a reason) I just don’t want anymore reminders of him

Sorry TMI

Our diamonds carry so much more weight than their carat size implies. You will have a relationship with your stone. Start it on the most beautiful stable footing possible. The point is to look down and have your heart relax (not look down and mentally juggle trauma and Kay jeweler calculations and other mental dust bunnies).

This has taken up a lot of your time, but it will be over soon. Create something lovely and heart-warming for your future self.

Thank you

It really has it’s a lot to consider and do and then pretty much being tied in with K it’s stressful. It makes me so angry, but I don’t wanna let those feelings consume me and then whatever I end up getting me nothing to me cause that makes sense. That’s why I really want something beautiful and timeless that I could be a new heirloom piece even though they are not the best place to buy from.

I didn’t want to say anything on here because I thought it sounded silly as to why I didn’t want a round but the closer we are getting to ordering and looking on a diamond and deciding, I just don’t think I could either use the round cut diamond as my ring. .

I get it. We suggested a round because its easier to pick based on photos and numbers. Fancies not so much. You could build new memories with the diamond we help you pick, But only you can decide that.
