Missy - I am thinking of you and your DH!

worried.... and didnt want to alarm any family members yet... but am concerned that my DH has not arrived at destination. This trip is an international one and we have told ppl that he has gone for a domestic work trip.

He left on the 830am direct flight to China enroute to vancouver. He was suppose to arrive at 455pm in china. We usually communicate that we have arrived at destiantion via text. It is now 11.10pm. no phone or email msg. thought there may be a probelm with computers or the phone. he bought a separate sim so that he could use it internationlly as work bars calls internationally. i have rung the hotel that he was supposed to have checked in for the night- he has not. There are no phone numbers that i can call to find out the status of the flight. The flight tracker site states that it departed on time, there is yet no arrival information. i understand that it is a 3rd party website and it relies on ppl updating the information. It is now 6 hr past the arrival time.

I have tried to search for the airport number, but of course, it is only operated on work hours, during the day. there is nothing on the news site, so that is a good sign????? i have to think that it had to land somewhere for an emergency, and waiting for the next available flight.

i have msg our travel agent for guidance.

I am worried and not sure if i can sleep. His mum has also asked for his whereabouts, and i just told her that i haven't heard either.

dust, dust, dust pls.....

First of all, biggest hugs to you as I understand how stressful this can be.

There are SO many things that contribute to a late flight or a delay in communications. (I am NOT AT ALL trying to dismiss this situation, just being positive and practical.) The flight could be sitting on the tarmac for some reason or another, or the communications may not be working for any number of reasons, or maybe your SO simply fell asleep (I speak from experience here -- my husband once literally walked into his hotel room in Singapore, layd own on the bed to email me, and fell asleep waiting for his computer to boot up... at least that was his story and he stuck to it!).

Again, I feel your worry and I will gladly worry with you (one of my special talents) but I just want to put out there that there are many many reasons why you haven't heard anything yet.

I'm sure everything will be ok. FWIW when I used to travel to China a few years ago that place was the black hole of cell phone reception. I could never get my phone to work around the airport. Still I'm sending dust dust dust your way. It is never good to have that worried feeling/ sinking feeling over a loved one.

As for me I'm just in a pretty irritated mood. Nothing wrong, nothing horrible but just sinking into a funk. Being on PS is not helping with the distraction either. Maybe for the next few days I should finally catch up on some books. With the weather turning my favorite thing to do is curl up on the couch and read something fantastic......yes evening typing that makes me feel better.

THanx Deejay and SB21

I got in touch with the airline this morning. They have confirmed that the flight did arrive in China, and my SO is definitely in China. They also thought i was asking about my wife..hehehehe. I did say his name too, and played along with the concerned husband checking that his wife arrived in China, though i think it may be a privacy issue to give that information out to anyone. But, at least i now know that my SO did arrive in China, and there were no crashes.......

I did wake up several times (to little miss 2 month old  ) and to also check the air crash website and also the airline website for updates crashes, news on anything about flights to china- the mind just goes into over drive!!!!

SB, i remember that my SO relayed the part about the reception with the travel sim card. There are parts of the world where the reception is not going to be that great. Then i also remembered that he is there for one night and the battery may have died and he does not have a chinese adaptor for the battery charger. He definitely has a north american adaptor so, when he gets to Vancouver, which i hope will have a better phone reception, he can charge his phone and let me know that he got there ok.

Oh how much relief is that to know.

Thanx for the dust guys....

I cant vent on FB as family know that he is away for work on the east coast and not overseas. So thanx for letting me vent and the support here.

Greg--

I hope you've heard from him and are able to relax. Not knowing where a SO is or if they are safe is miserable. I'll be sending all sorts of positive thoughts and dust your way.

Hi TP,
Thanx.
Feeling much better now that i know that he was on that flight and that it arrived safely in china. He has already departed for final destination. i will hear from him Friday afternoon my time, so in less than 24hrs time....I am assuming that i converted the time correctly. I am sure he will get a shock when he gets reception for his phone; and more so from the countless emails i sent him. :cheeky:

Just reading this now and very relieved for you that your SO has arrived safely. It's very scary when you cannot reach a loved one especially when they are traveling far...so glad everything turned out to be fine!!!

We talked to a friend this morning. His wife just had their 4th baby a couple of weeks ago. Each of the others were long labors (24 hrs or more) so she was expecting that again. But..... FIVE DAYS!?!?
They had a midwife there for the whole thing making sure all were okay.

Got an email from SO this morning!!! Woohoo!!!

Thanx for listening and supporting.

Thanks!

We've had a lot going on and have been sad that some people have been acting poorly in life. It was wonderful to reach out and find so many people there for us. Not the people we would have expected! Some moments in life really show who your true friends are :))

I'm totally stoked about the Trinity Ring, however I should have gotten the larger size. :( :( I have emailed my rep and hopefully I can exchange it easily without having to make the 2+hr trek there. That's why no SMTB thread (that and the SD card doesn't like my computer). I wish I had listened to my instincts and gotten the 56. Yes the 55 fits, fits GREAT alone, but I'm a stacker, and stacking the 55 is tight. This is not good as my fingers aren't swollen right now. ;( ;( ;(

It can be so hard to figure out the right sizes for stacking. I have fallen prey to that "it fits! ... but not with another ring" issue before. Hope your exchange goes smoothly.

I remember when i bought that i was so worried about sizing. its so hard to do without trying it on, and of course out in the boondocks we dont have too many Cartier stores

im sorry :(

There's a lot going on in my life right now and I'm a little distracted.

How distracted am I?

Out on an errand run, I pulled into a local Jamba Juice for sustenance, put up the sunshade, and went in to order my smoothy.

Came out, backed out of the parking space, put the car into first gear, and then realized I was about to drive off with the sunshade still up.

Yeah, just a little distracted.

Went to the gem show. Did about 2k in wallet-damage. I guess it's not damage if you budgeted for it, though.

The haul:

1.25ish cttw diamond studs, in those fun antique flower-esque settings, rose gold
plat/ruby eternity band
sleepy pink spinel oval pair
rhodolite garnet pair
blue apatite

yayyyyy

Thanks Distracts! I emailed the great sales associate and she gave me the go ahead for the return. I've left message for the one in charge of returns who will be back on Monday.

Thanks Niel! I'm consoling myself in that I'll send back the smaller size and then she'll ship the correct size to be engraved and when I get it back it'll be perfect! :D Our closest Cartier is a 2+ hour drive away!

If you insist! I am going to wait to make a thread until I can figure out how to make it look more true-to-life in the pictures. The color is somewhere in between those two. It'll live on my index finger but the other pic is because I REALLY want a size 4.5 or 5 one to go with my engagement ring for the Americana look, lol.

Cozy -- Can't wait to see pics! I'm glad they are swapping it for you so easily!

Distracts --  Beautiful ring! More pics of your purchases?!?

Talking about distracted...
I was sitting at a stop sign a couple of days ago and DH asked if I was waiting for the other people to go or...? Um... Yeah.
Okay, so I was waiting for it to turn green

Very worried about my brother Fred - he's in ICU - fever of unknown origin -and apparently lots of blood leaking (or leaked) from his stomach because of a bleeding ulcer. I'm not sure what the connection is, but docs are doing a brain scan, fearing neurological damage. Fred is oldest younger brother - only 57 YO. Concerned for him and his wife and my parents.

That's all.
