We survived the bomb cyclone! The wind howled and the rain blasted us for 2 days. Going solar this summer was the best investment we've made in the house. Everyone around me lost power for a few hours last night and the Christmas lights on our house were the only things lighting up our street.
The wind abruptly stopped at 6:30 a.m. and its eerily still and quiet.

Congratulations!! We just celebrated the 1st BD of our one and only grand daughter. Enjoy the newborn scrunchy phase. It goes by too quickly.

Uhm, I don't think that's a 836 pound emerald.
I ain't no GIA Graduate Gemologist, but it looks like a blob from the earth that weighs 836 pounds total.
But the VAST the majority that that weight is NOT emerald crystals.
It's some other natural geological material that weighs probably over 830 pounds of the 836 pounds reported.
IOW,

100% pure determination and consistency. Old school, med free, don’t eat garbage, walk, lift, repeat.
That being said, some meds would have been nice the past couple weeks lol, thank you Lulu and MaryJane for your support, it was appreciated more than you’ll ever know.

I just want to say...I am feeling very very sad. My DH and I fell in love yesterday afternoon with a cat at a rescue organization (where we had been preaprroved to adopt last May and that preapproval never expires) and my DH said to me we should adopt him. He's ours.
He came right up to me out of the lap of the volunteer and put his head on my arm. I did not solicit his attention at all as I was petting another cat on a cat tree. And he stayed like that for 20 minutes purring loudly til we had to leave. So he chose us. And we were not intending to adopt now as we already have four indoor kitties. But my DH who before this was totally against getting a fifth looked at me and said he is our cat. So we told the staff and they told me to email the person in charge of adoptions.
I emailed her as we were leaving (3PM) and have heard nothing since. I have emailed with her before and she always responds within an hour or two.
I have a bad feeling that someone else already requested to adopt him before us and the volunteers would not be privy to that info. So here I am broken-hearted and devastated because in my heart I feel he was meant to be with us.
His name is Rhys and I know we would give him the best life possible. I guess there is still a chance but I have a not so good feeling about this
PS I am wearing gloves on my right hand because I just finished five days of radiation on that hand and am supposed to keep it covered and moisturized just in case you were wondering why I was wearing one glove inside

Thanks. The head of adoption emailed me yesterday 30 minutes before we went to see the cats. She asked me to let her know if we wanted to adopt any of the cats after our visit there. She asked me to email her. So I did just that. Then crickets. Something is wrong. They do not have a phone and are closed today til late due to a private birthday party there. She definitely would have emailed me if they approved this adoption. I don’t understand the silence on her part even if let’s say Rhys has already been adopted. Let me know. It’s the considerate thing to do

The fact that you haven't heard a yes or a no indicates to me she is just busy with something else and not checking email. I'm hoping that's the case.

DH and I have been watching Christmas shows every night!
I've been watching Christmas-themed movies, most are rom-coms, some are good, the majority are so sugary sweet watching them is like pouring a 5 lb bag of sugar down my throat.

It is so frustrating not to hear a word on something like that. Fingers crossed that she has just been very busy and it slipped her mind. If it is meant to be, it will be! Always my motto and helps with the happiness and the disappointment!
