btw what designer was it? dont remember... hehe

tulipcloud - I LOVE your dress! Is The beading and crystals are gorgeous - so sparkly! You do look like a princess, and very lucky you don''t have to get alterations made!

Ooohhh...tulipcloud that is so pretty! I am having so much fun living vicariously through everyone else ordering and trying on these beautiful dresses since I have promised myself that I won''t start shopping until about 14 months before my wedding, which isn''t for another year

Seriously though that looks totally amazing on you. I''m with flopkins - what was the designer/style?

Here is a color picture of my dress, the previous was b&w....the picture sucks, the dress is so much prettier in person, the colors are a deep pink/peach w/gold and the skirt is "champagne"...it looks white here...I wish I could take a pic of it at the bridal shop but it''s my fiance''s digital camera and I don''t want him to take a peek at the pictures...

ok...that pic is super tiny...i''ll have to get back to you w/the color detail...haha

thanks again everyone!!!

Everytime I put on the dress, which I am trying NOT to do, it puts a huge smile on my face, makes me feel sooo giddy! The dress is a Maggie Sottero Regency. The pic on the website does no justice to the dress! Can't wait to see everyone else's gowns!

Jessegrl...who's the designer? looks gorgoeus!

Tulip- It''s an Ian Stuart Gown, which is Justin Alexander in the U.S. I live in NY so I have NO idea why the bridal shop where I bought it sold the european name...pictures do not do it justice, actually when I went to try dresses on, they have you pick them out of a book first and then they go get them for you. I passed by the pic of my gown b/c it looked "blah" and the saleswoman took it upon herself to bring it out anyway....good thing b/c it is the "one"
I LOVE LOVE LOVE your gown, it was on the cover of the first bridal magazine I bought when I got engaged...I loved it and so did my mother!!! I feel the same way when I put my gown on...it makes me soooo happy. Mine won''t be in until late may/june...I can not wait! when is your wedding? i have to wait until october 1st to wear mine...

tulipcloud....gorgeous dress!! I had a feeling it was a Maggie since the corset back. You are right the pic on the website doesn''t do it justice...can''t see all the detailing. I love those Maggies!!

tulipcloud~

Kberly- THat pronovias dress IS STUNNING.. You should DEFINITELY get it! It just has that WOW factor.. a little bit classic, but a little bit different... and a LOT gorgeous.

Kberly,

I LOVE that dress!! Does it have the "pick-up" on it''s own? Are there other pictures of this dress? I agree with MelissaSue that''s it''s traditional but unique..and absolutely stunning!

KBerly,

yes my dress is from Pronovias, and I loved Pronovias dresses even before I was really "looking". That one you posted is stunnig!(in real life too
5.gif
) the dresses on their site don''t do them justice, my advice (personal experience
31.gif
) try each and every Pronovias dress that you can get your hands on!
Really, it''s worth it! They are all stunning! I find them very feminine, very sexy, but not too sexy, AND very bridal. But to be honest, I tried some on that I loved from the site, and they looked horrible on me
14.gif
.
So go and have fun trying on these dresses and let us know how it turned out!

thanks rockchick, that''s good to know. i will definitely try them all on
9.gif
that is what i am worried about though, i LOVE this dress, and i''m like, it is going to look like crap on me! but i know there are many more where that one comes from

I just want to say that it''s great seeing everyone''s gown. You all look gorgeous!

It''s typical for Chinese brides to have at least 2 dresses for their wedding and 10-course Chinese dinner. So... I wore an ivory wedding gown for church/dinner and a red cheongsam at the dinner. I had the gowns tailored at a regular tailor instead of a bridal salon so we saved a fair bit that was spent on our honeymoon instead.

My wedding gown is of Indian silk with bamboo embroidery on it.

The cheongsam is also of Indian silk with flower embroidery.

BTW, the pictures are more than 2 years old and I was thinner. Sigh...

Here is the cheongsam...

First of all, you wont look like crap! but you may be suprised that the dress you love might not look that good in real life, (fabric, colour etc) and the dress you didn''t even give a second thought on the site, will look gorgeous
30.gif
! That''s exactely what happend to me! Have fun. man I''m excited for you, It is SO much fun trying everything on! I went all the way, Í wont have a veil or anything, but I sure tried on every veil and hat I could get my hands on, hihi.

All these dresses on this thread are SO beautiful! I keep forgetting to check in, but this is one of my favorite threads!

DiaDiva: I LOVE your cheongsam! It is so gorgeous - that''s the shade of red that I like. I was not going to wear one but I may change my mind. I take it you got the dress custom made in Singapore? I am "testing" out a tailor in Shanghai right now. Their prices seem reasonable and they send things quickly to the US. My mom told me to get pink or purple for the cheongsam, I don''t have to get red, so I can wear it again.

I might get this neckline instead of the traditional buttoned up neckline. I would like the cheongsam to be pink with maybe a cherry blossom pattern on it, or even like yours, bamboo!

Thanks, MelissaSue!

Luckyhonu, you''re right! I do live in Singapore. Tailoring in Shanghai is pretty good. Lots of my friends go on holiday in Shanghai and end up getting clothes made there, ranging from suits to gowns to cheongsams - the prices are fantastic. One of my colleagues who works in Beijing bought fabric from my tailor in Singapore, had it tailored in Beijing in a week, and wore it in Holland for her wedding the following week. That''s pretty international, right. Do post your cheongsam when it''s ready. Would love to see it....

that Pronovias dress is stunning, I loved their items when I was looking, but like someone else pointed out, dresses have a way of sometimes looking horrible on. all I have to do is look at that model in that Pronovias dress and think, okay well I don't have a long waist that is all of 5 inches big and I have hips and boobs, so that would never work!!
39.gif
I had to do this alot while I was looking. aka ruching on the chest with boobs? Not so flattering. Ruching on the waist with an actual real waist? Don't need the extra material! Damn those curves!
2.gif
I think that Pronovias dress would look fab on a skinny type girl who is looking for some extra material to add some curves.

WOW!!!
30.gif
30.gif
Dia Diva you look SO BEAUTIFUL in both your dresses!!! I love the shade of red on your cheongsam... and indian silk is gorgeous... my mom''s cheongsam was made with indian silk too!!!

re cheongsams in asia - my mom went looking for one for me in HK, but couldn''t find a good one... but i''m sure shanghai has better prices and selection... so jealous! i might have to make do with chinatown in SF, or im hoping i might be able to fit into my mom''s for my wedding!!
9.gif

I tried to look for a cheongsam in SF Chinatown too, but my big o butt wouldn''t fit in cheongsam when it fits me on top. And then after trying them, it makes me feel all fat. Anyways I am going to have me custom made now. I was going to get one custom made from ShangHai but decided against because I wanted to know exactly how the fabric looks and feels like. So now I am getting it custom made by Lings in Oakland. It''s going to cost as much as my wedding gown but I absolutely love the fabric I chose and that I know it will fit me much better.

Hi Flopkins, thanks for the compliment.

Re cheongsams, wherever possible, it''s always better to get one custom-made because it needs to be "moulded" to one''s body but with enough allowance to breathe so fittings are a necessary evil. If you''re ever in Singapore, I''ll give you the address of my tailor and good places to shop!

flopkins and qtiekiki: My mom had recommended me to go to Chinatown in SF to get the cheongsam but I found this lady on Noriega (http://www.jinza.net) who had some beautiful custom made bridal gowns (although a bit spendy) and had the coolest looking cheongsam I''ve even seen. It had the button collar, keyhole neckline and was also long with a trumpet skirt that bustled! It was so nice. I wanted to get it but I thought the price was a little bit expensive for me, since I would only be wearing it for an hour at the most.

qtiekiki: What kind of material are you using for your cheongsam? I am trying to decide if I want the silk and brocade material but I find that a little bit heavy especially since I''ll be in Hawaii. I am hoping that place in Shanghai has some silk satin that I could use.
