It shouldn''t normally turn your finger green. Have you had that experience more than once?

I know, right?! It freaks me out. I have had it happen with a 14k white gold ring and a 14k rose gold ring. I have heard it happens to a small percentage of people because of a skin reaction to the copper (oxidizing?).

ETA: the white gold didn''t bother me until the rhodium wore off, so I would be able to avoid green fingeritis if I keep plating it

Wow Shimmer.....ask Maddy, onegarnetgirl, about this. She''ll let you know the best way to go. I vote ROSE GOLD!!!!

Just wanted to post here to say thanks for making me aware of Etsy. I had never heard of it before stumbling on this thread. Anyway, I was looking around and found the perfect necklace for my FI''s birthday next month. It arrived today, and she is going to love it.

Thanks again. Here''s a couple pics from the seller''s ad. Rose gold vermeil over sterling silver with oxidized silver chain & quartz briolette. 18.5'' total length.
Hi jet!

Thanks Lori, I decided to go with palladium white gold. I will wear it as my ering sometimes and want it to match my platinum wedding band.

The rose gold is so beautiful but the 14k was only in my budget and I think I will react better to a higher gold content (18k).

Makingthegrade, your rings are gorgeous! I especially love the orange!

Sapphirelover, please post pics when you receive the pendant, I have been dying for an aqua and that is just so perfect!

SapphireLover, I LOVE your aqua pendant!

Way to go Shimmer!!! I thought about it and agreed that a white metal would REALLY show off your GORGEOUS stone....YAY....Maddy will do an amazing job on your ring.....

Thanks for the compliments. I will post more pics when I have them! (I wonder how long it will take to get to the Uk from Thailand?!?).

I am thinking about having a pillbox aquamarine ring done, however I think they sit a bit too high for me. I was thinking of asking kyleannemetals to make me a bzel with a twist band (like Makingthegrades colour change garnet ) as it sits lower and seems more suitable for everyday. Unfortunately she doesn''t really stock RB aquas and I will probably have to source one myself and send it to her, which is a pain.

It''s so so so pretty! Yeah, Kyleanne doesn''t seem to carry a very vast array of gemstones, but RB aquas are relatively easy to source...in the US at least. I can''t really say how difficult they might be over in the UK.. I''m sure if you need help though, the people over in colored stones would be happy to help you find one you like

LOVE your pillbox pendant, Sapphirelover! As for your ring, why don''t you just have Sally make one that''s set lower for you? She customizes stuff for me all the time. She''s really open to modifications, and I''m sure she won''t mind. It would be so cool to have a matching set.
36.gif

SapphireLover I have my 8x10mm spinel set in the pillbox, which is a big stone size for me, but the ring is so dainty, it doesn''t feel like it''s high. Sally also asked whether I would have wanted the setting to sit low on the finger without the little platform (then I couldn''t have stacked it).

Also, Dan at customgemstones has cut some round aquas lately, what do you think of them?

A ring would be stunning with your lovely pendant!

I emailed Dan yesterday as he has a lovely round aqua, however I wanted one that was about 5-6mm and the round on his site is 7.4mm.

There is no rush, I am going to bide my time as long as I can!

MTG- Get you and your addiction to bezels! Lovely stuff. What website is The Gem? Not finding much of use when I do a google search. Edited- just realised its from the Gem Trader.

I know...I have a bezel addiction. They''re just so much more low maintenance than prongs!
I''m actually not crazy about this bezel, it''s closed in the back and sits kind of high. But I bought it for $40 used, lol, mostly for the pink spinel. I''ll probably reset it when I think of something I''d like better.

3 etsy rings :)

flurorstack.jpg

MTG-

Where on Etsy did you find these? Which vendor made them? And can you tell us a little more about them? I am a gold person and I am interested in what material was used to construct the rings and what metals the vendor works with. I have loved all of the bezels of yours that I have seen so far; you have wonderful taste!

Thank for the compliments AGBF!
I really like doing silver with my less expensive gemstones because it still looks nice without costing too much.

The golden stone is a 1ct color-change malaya garnet that I bought from Weblorn on ebay (she has great "Make an Offer" stones, and you can nab a fantastic deal!). It goes from a peachy pink in daylight to this golden color in fluroescent light. The blue one is a 1.2ct unheated sapphire that I got from Michael E which was on sale. Both are bezeled in silver, but the sapphire sits much lower because I had the band inset with the bezel. Both were done nicely by KyleanneMetals from etsy at great prices (25 for the malaya, 40 for the sapphire because it required more time and work). She also works in gold, and recently made a matte white gold bezel for someone's tourmaline that turned out fantastic, and was very reasonable at 110$ we thought. :)
Here's an image of that
Karis%20ring%20on%20the%20finger.JPG

Hope that helps! Kyleanne is a real sweety to work with. I prefer to send her my own stones though since she doesn't stock a wide range of faceted stones (and I'm just picky). But she's a great metalsmith.

The small pink ring has a padparadscha sapphire set in 18k lotus setting hand made by HeartofWater on etsy.

Thanks Loriken!
I actually am not too fond of the ring as it is. So I'm thinking of pairing this pink spinel with a lavender spinel I have, and making a pendant. (What can I say, I'm running out of fingers!).
I just need to find/make a design I like...

If anyone has any ideas or pics of similar projects, let me know! If i seriously can't think of anything, I might just mail them to Sally, give her a ballpark budget, and just see what happens because all of her pieces seem so gorgeous.

Here's the lavender spinel for reference, it's roughly the same size as the pink.

I love your pink spinel MakingTheGrade!

I changed my mind on the ring again and am doing rose gold! I found that the clear nail polish inside the band works to keep the green away on my finger, so just a few weeks and I will have it.

Has anyone bought from the seller michellechangjewelry? I'm thinking of ordering a 14k gold initial pendant in memory of my dog who recently passed, but I just want to check if anyone here has experience ordering from her. Here's the link if you want to check it out http://www.etsy.com/view_listing.php?listing_id=25657445

Thanks!

ETA: DOH! I just went to the first page of this thread and the very first post mentions her! Hehe.

MakingTheGrade, I just read you''re not too happy about the ring setting, sorry to hear that. But it looks amazing in the pictures. It will make a great pendant

MTG, How will you pair the two spinels together? It sounds like it will be a nice combination.

Yeah, the pink spinel ring setting bugs me because the back of the bezel is closed, and there''s dust in there that I can''t clean!! I know that makes me sound OCD (which I am), but in the long run it''ll really bug me. And I have to many rings, I thought I"d try a pendant this time around!

I put up a listing on Alchemy (1st time doing this!), and got a promising reply from
http://www.etsy.com/shop.php?user_id=7352685

Her work looks lovely! I was thinking of doing a pendant like this (pardon the bad photoshop!)
