Trying my best to get through the weekend, tomorrow is the anniversary of (my most cherished) Mother's passing. I get teary just typing this.....
I still have right hip pain, seems like it is better then it's back to square one. I'll return to the Doctor--maybe she will do some imaging. I don't know what the hell is wrong. On a happier note, my DH booked us a holiday...to Hawaii. We desperately need a vacay.
@mrs-b so wonderful to hear your back is healing and you have decreased pain!! Yipee! And just tape your lipstick to your arm. LOL.
@missy you guys don't skip a beat!! Good on you for hiking those tough trails!!
@marcy nice to catch up with friends! You meal sounded yummy!

Hi everyone else. We had a good hike yesterday and ran into Ruby again haha. I did something to my ankle a few days ago and it isn't sprained per se but just feels a bit funny so we didn't do as long a hike or as strenuous as we have been doing. Hoping it feels OK today...so far walking around the house it is not bad. Not perfect but not bad. LOL how's that for descriptive
Planning another hike today as it is still too cold for cycling. I hope everyone enjoys a super Sunday...be well, be safe but have fun

Good morning..I’ll just it get it out first…We didn’t get the house..
S felt uncomfortable with all the ornate mouldings in the house. I was too when I first saw the photos but I was feeling desperate at this point willing to overlook a lot. I’m glad he brought me back to earth. That man would have said yes if I really wanted it. I wanted him to love the house too so I told the realtor it looks like we will pass. My husband looked relieved but kept asking me if I was sure. I’m now glad we didn’t get it because I would be settling. At that price that would have been ridiculous. You can’t get everything you want but it should feel like home. It didn’t…

I hate that you have to fight to get the meds you need. You put up with so much..I don’t know how you do it with trying to get blood tests done without mistakes..having such complicated medical issues that the general pool of specialists can’t help too much. You are one strong lady..I love that you plug along enjoying your life, cycling, hiking, and finding joy in your day.
@Austina It’s so exciting that you are finally able to enjoy your beautiful pool! I loved mine when we lived in Texas. I would come home from shopping in that Texas heat in summer and pop in to cool off. It was bliss..
I did look up a wash for the stones but since they were outside it would have been more difficult. We passed on the house so I will share a pic of the horrible color..That house would have needed too much done for the price.
Your neighbors sound wonderful. I found the people in Texas were extra nice and friendly.
@marcy It looks like your wrist is healing nicely. Did the doctor say you could just go about your activities based on how you feel? I think it will take a long time before you can lift again, right? I only sprained my wrist..and it still hurts sometimes. It’s actually still a little swollen. Before I hurt it my watch was loose and dangling on my wrist. Now it fits snugly. I can see a difference between the size of my left and right wrists. Is your wrist still swollen?
@mrs-b Im happy to see you are feeling much better. I know it will take time but it’s so wonderful to see you are making good progress!
I will finish in the car going home. S wants me to get moving so we can get home at a normal time.

@canuk-gal, Sending you a hug and hoping you are feeling a little better today now that you made it through yesterday. Please remind yourself that you are now past the first birthday‘s, holidays and the anniversary. It will get easier. I know this is so hard Sharon. It hurt to hear your sadness in your post. I’m sorry. Please be kind to yourself and take good care of yourself. Thinking of you and wishing you well.
@MamaBee, I hope your son’s health is improving and he is doing better. Have you considered having a home built? It’s a pain finding a great builder and a piece of land you love but in the end you have a home you love and it looks the way you want it to look. Custom Builders also may have lots or know of lots for sale in the area you want to live. There are hiccups along the way but honestly you would have the same issues if you buy a home and end up having to hire people to remodel things you don’t love about the house.
@Austina, Your pool is beautiful!!! I look forward to seeing pictures when everything is complete with the plantings around that area. It’s going to look like your own personal resort. How fun!
@marcy, Before long you with be lifting weights and life will be back to normal. You were a trooper through this whole ordeal. I was thinking of you the other night. They showed the northern lights on the news and said a pilot had turned the plane around and then back again so every passenger on the plane was able to have a good view of them. It looked magical and the pilot and passengers were all having a fun time enjoying the beauty.
@junebug17 , I hope all is well with you and your family. Have you been able to get to SC and enjoy the warm weather and beach? What have you been up to? I hope all is well you and life is just busy with fun things. DH has been watching some golf series where they follow some of the top younger golfers on tournaments, I’ve actually put the ipad down and have watched it too. The golf courses are beautiful. What have you been up to?
@Tekate, Congratulations on another little one being in the way! I love it when you drop in Pricescope. It was so good to hear from you. So glad you and @Austina were able to get together and had a good time. You both look beautiful in the pictures. My niece that had her first the same time Auti was born now has three little ones. She loves being a mom and makes it look easy. None of us have any idea how she does it all.
@mrs-b, I hope your recovery is going well and you are feeling a little better now. You had quite the ordeal and recovery is never a walk in the park.

I’m trying to find dresses to wear for my niece‘s wedding and a good friend’s son’s upcoming wedding. One of my friends and my SIL have been helping me. My friend was teasing me saying even if we don’t find a dress we can at least have fun going to a late lunch or dinner afterward.
I hope everyone is well and looking forward to spring, summer and warmer weather.

So glad to hear that, although you’re still in pain, that it’s lessening and you feel it’s all been worthwhlie @mrs-b. I hope the follow up appt went went today and you’ve got the all clear to drive again. Oy to snow, it’s 80 degs here!
Honestly @MamaBee, if the house didn’t knock your socks off, then it just wasn’t the one for you. We felt the same when we started looking here, everything was a compromise, and an expensive one at that, so what’s the point? I KNOW your house is out there, you just haven’t found it yet. There’s no point in rushing in to something, you’ll only regret it later.
Lovely to hear from you @junebug17, we’re going to be in SC, Myrtle Beach actually in April. We’ve always wanted to see the Worlds Strongest Man live, and now we finally have the opportunity to go! Looking forward to it, as we’ve not been to SC before. Glad all is well with you and yours.

I’m sorry it’s such a painful anniversary @canuk-gal, I can’t believe it’s been a year already, it was all just so sudden. It’s no surprise that it’s stirred up all the emotions again. How lovely to have a holiday to Hawaii to look forward to, we haven’t been since I was pregnant! I hope the hip pain eases up soon.
Oh no @missy, I hope you haven’t done anything serious to your ankle, that’s the last thing you need! Hopefully you’ve managed to get out and about today, even though it’s chilly.
We’ve had a busy and productive weekend, we’ve hauled tons of rock and finally managed to finish off the latest delivery today. We still need more but will buy smaller bags to finish it off, it’s not worth the delivery charge for the quantities we need now. We’ve been enjoying the pool, although it’s been a little cool, but the temps are heating up these week to the mid 80’s so the pool will get warmer.
Our neighbours came round yesterday to swim, their little boy didn’t want to get out
We’ve decided to get the planting done now, the landscapers have given us a good quote for the work, so we’ve said yes. They’re here today and getting on with it. We’re having PomPom Pampass grass along the back fence, and Russian Sage and Purple Muhly in the other beds. Judging by the effort they’re putting in to dig the holes, I think it’d have killed us trying to do it. I’m aching all over from shifting the rocks, my neck hurts, my back, my arms and my hips! Anyone would think I’m getting old

We have been hiking daily and it's been lots of fun. Lots of work but lots of fun. Saw friends outside yesterday and then had my zoom with my girlfriends. So rewarding in every way. These girls get me and you would love them too. This morning went to do more lab work (16 vials of blood omg) and the tech who I often see..Matt..said he thought I was born in 1985. LOL I will take that hahaha

@missy I have to run out soon to get my blood work..but I have to make my chicken soup before I go..Here are just snippets of that house we just saw and said NO..Since it’s online I don’t want to do more photos..The outside stone was horrific. It was more yellow and orange then what this photo shows. When we pulled up to the house we thought the stone colors looked cartoonish. The mouldings inside the house were so ornate. It truly looked like the White House..When you separate the photos it doesn’t look so ornate..but you put all the mouldings in a room..it was overpowering..

I will adjust supplements and avoid things like cinnamon or use hand sanitizer before a test to see if my platelets increase..It will sometimes peak over normal and satisfy her for a while..If I get another below normal platelet level she will add ITP to my list of oddities..lol She also stopped my BP medicine today because my blood pressure has been dropping to low normal..and sometimes below.. It was always high..I took blood pressure medicine for over twenty years..Are my supplements lowering my blood pressure? Who knows..My pulse is also low..and I’m not an athlete like you..haha..I don’t know what’s going on. Love you back..

Am I mad for saying that the photos are better than I expected @MamaBee Were the architectural details in keeping with the age of the house? I do think they stand out more because of the stark contrast of the wall colour, but yes, they are a lot. I’m all for simpler now, less to collect dust and easier to paint! Hope your blood work came back OK.

We’ve had a busy couple of days, went to Tractor Supply Co for Colin to look at the electric tractors, and ended up with some herbs to grow outside, then to Home Depot, and ended up with more plants, and everything but what we went for Back to HD today and more plants but not the grass seed or soil that we needed. Came home and move more rocks, thankfully on the absolute last leg of that now, a couple more bags should have it all done.
They’re coming first thing to do the glass install around the pool tomorrow, then I can finally get out the other loungers and new table and chairs
We’ve been enjoying the weather and the pool here, Colin remarked today that sitting outside is like being on holiday, UNTIL I reminded him that we’re not being waited on!

Hello loveliesIt’s all done! The guys arrived at 9 and started putting in all the supports for the glass. After a couple of hours it was all complete and looks fantastic, even better than we were hoping. It really finishes off the pool.
We went and did our shopping and after they left, got out the rest of the new garden furniture that’s been sitting in the garage for 7 months.

I love sheath dresses so thats probably what I will end up with. There will be lots of beautiful 20 and 30 year olds at the wedding. No one except DH is going to notice what I wear. LOL

@MamaBee I thought the pictures you showed looked nice/concurred with @Austina . But I am a fan of clean lines/sterile spaces (lol) and so many layers are cobweb and dust magnets. You'll find something great for your family. It's waiting for you.
@missy I hope you miss winter entirely. Who needs it? FWIW, I just took down our Christmas tree! I like the white lights--but now it is light outside, earlier, I felt it was time.

Thank you @Calliecake, it’s been worth all the wait, we’re so pleased with it and can see the pool from every room across the back of the house. You can’t go wrong with a sheath dress, so elegant and timeless, I’ll bet you’ll look fab!

Oh no to horrible weather on it’s way @missy, we are enjoying lovely weather here, not too hot, just perfect. I’m glad you’ve managed to get out and enjoy the beautiful scenery whilst you can.

We started planting the bed by the pool today, oy, so glad we got the rest of the garden done by the landscapers. Talk about hard work, the ground is awful and took a lot of digging to make the holes big enough. We got the Yuccas planted, the small Mondo grasses, and one of the roses, just 3 more to go. Of course one of them is yellow Hopefully we can get the other three in tomorrow, then we’re done. We have a few small projects to do, but they can be done as and when.
FT friends tomorrow and out out to lunch with the lovely Colombian couple who live behind us on Sunday.

Hi ladies Another brief post.
My back is slowly becoming less painful and I no longer use a walker or walking sticks, except for the first half hour of each day while my glutes, mainly, are stretching and the spasms I often wake up with pass. The rest of the day I can feel the weakness in my back, but I manage to get around just fine and virtually pain-free (which means - I'm not taking any pain meds for it now, either). So things are good on the spine front. I don't see improvement from day to day, but I do see it from week to week. I'm seeing the surgeon on Monday and am hoping I can get the all-clear to drive; it would be the first time in at least 4 months.
Unfortunately, tho, I had to skip 4 injections of Humira around my surgery and my Crohn's has been very exacerbated. My gastro has decided to put me on Entyvio, which has to be infused by a nurse, in my home, every 8 weeks. Last night was the first infusion, and the info that comes with it said I may feel very tired or rather sick for the first couple of days. That's a big "Yes" as it turns out. So, despite it not being 7pm yet - I'm about to go to bed!

Bright sunny day here! But cold at -12C. At least we did NOT get the big dump of snow predicted yesterday. We went out for a lovely lunch with my boys yesterday! DH and I are heading out shortly...I need to find a replacement black swim suit and my DH needs shoes. He is SO difficult to fit...so I don't have much hope. Anyway.
@Austina did you plant rose shrubs or tea's? I could have a millions roses and lilies!

Quick drive by SCORE: DH tried on 4 pairs of HOKA and got one!!! I consider this a big win as this arthritic feet are a challenge to fit. My sista only run in HOKA--loves them.

Quick drive by SCORE: DH tried on 4 pairs of HOKA and got one!!! I consider this a big win as this arthritic feet are a challenge to fit. My sista only run in HOKA--loves them.

@lambskin I am so glad you got to see Venus and Jupiter. They sure stand out once it gets dark.
@missy wow that’s nuts it took two months to get one of your meds. Luckily, it wasn’t critical. I am not going to ever accept the new normal. It’s inexcusable. I realize I have no option, but I will not go gently into the new normal night . . . Your hike pictures are great, such pretty areas. I’m with you on DST - pick one and stick to it. I didn’t send our wind your way, I swear. Besides, we’ve still got ours.
@MamaBee finding the perfect place is challenging, You definitely should not settle for a place that doesn’t have the things you really want in a house. And you want it to feel like home. We had this house built but still had to settle on some things and then ended up doing quite a few major upgrades in the 10 years we’ve lived here. At least most things in a house are like a haircut, you can always change it. Sorry your sprained wrist is still a bit swollen and gives you trouble. I’ve always heard a sprain is worse than a break. I hope it continues to improve for you. Yes, I was quite lucky with my break. It was 10 weeks ago Friday and I’d say I have pretty much full range of motion, minor pain and most of the swelling is gone. The doctor said I could lift in a month after the appointment on February 8. I started lifting a week earlier than that and have added several pounds each time. Today I deadlifted 25 pounds and pressed 20 pounds. I know I have to push it be not be crazy. I hope your blood test results are good. That’s great to get off your BP meds. I wonder if I’ll be able to quit too, I’m about the same. Low BP and heart rate. In my case, I’m sure it’s the weight loss that made the difference.
@Austina your pool area looks fabulous. We should move somewhere warmer. Maybe, I’d work less. By the way, breakfast pizza is pretty good too. Ha Ha. That’s wonderful you have friendly neighbors. Most of the people around us are friendly. There is a community mailbox right across the street from us so we get lots of people walking by and stopping to talk if we are outside. Our deck is by the greenway so people we know will come up and visit if we are out there. Ha Ha you aren’t being waited on around your pool. I swear Marty still thinks he’s staying in a hotel room; he never hangs up his towel after he showers. He started that habit when he was traveling so often.
@mrs-b I am delighted to hear your pain is somewhat better already. I hope it continues to improve. I’ve been thinking of you. Can you use one of those grabbers to pick things up? I picked up one for me when I bought one for my dad years ago, I use it frequently. Marty uses it to squeeze teddy bear heads but that probably doesn’t surprise any of you ladies.
@canuk-gal Big hugs to you for the anniversary of your mom’s passing, those days are rough. Yes, we are still feeling Mother Nature’s wrath. I hope you see spring weather soon. California is getting smacked. Some areas look pretty bad. I hate to hear your work weak was stressful. I hope this week is better for you. Darn you can’t find your bathing suit, I hope it turns up. Glad your DH found a pair of HOKA he likes. I have good luck with them. I guess they are made by Brooks which is the other brand I like.
Wow, I slacked off posting this week. I’ve been working eight hours a day then just watch TV at night. I quit bringing my laptop in to the living room at night since I feel like I’m on the computer all day.
@junebug17 sounds like you are enjoying catching up with people and what a relief you and your DH got good report cards from your physicals. Thanks, I am easily back to 90% on every day things with my wrist. I have a little trouble cupping my hand and carrying anything heavy doesn’t last long. Other than that, I’m doing great.
@Calliecake I feel like I’m almost back to normal. I am trying to not baby or favor the left hand so am doing pretty well. Wasn’t that a great story about the pilot who turned the plane around so everyone could see the aurora? Some people took some pictures from the plane. What a magical sight! Have fun dress shopping with your friend and it’s a good reason to go out for lunch or dinner as well.
So as mentioned above, I pretty much have full range of motion back so quit doing the wristercises four times a day but still do them once or twice. I’ve been lifting and adding 2 to 5 pounds per time and doing okay with that. The wrist gets a bit sore but nothing horrible. I can wear my wedding bands and engagement ring again. I am so excited.
We met my sister and some of her family for a late lunch today. Our favorite steak place I about an hour from all of our houses so that works well.
Marty spent the day yesterday helping a friend move so I was bored and caught up on house chores.
It’s been cold and windy here with freezing frost and just some snow. Another storm is moving in this week. At least I got my car washed.
