Awww TGal,
Have fun this weekend. I know it''s hard leaving your precious Amelia, but it will be good for you and TGuy. I hope you have a blast!!!
36.gif

tgal YAY for new bags!!! i love the balenciaga. i still have a ton of mine and i LOVE them to death and still use them even though i have B. is that the day bag? i love the day bag for outings with B where we will be out for awhile because it carries a TON and it stays in place and doesn't keep slipping off the shoulder. nice splurge!! we are going to take a million pics so he can someday appreciate all the trouble that we, or mostly *i* went through to plan his day.

burk when the time is right, you'll be preggo again. if there is any good to this, it's that you can really enjoy T without being tired all the time. funny thing about DH's bday is that he knew it really didn't exist anymore the day i told him i was preggo, and i guess he was right. but he doesn't mind. i mean, i'll stil wish him a happy birthday, heehee.

snlee i hope D was better throughout the day. sometimes, they just are fussy and there is absolutely nothing you can do. take some time for yourself this weekend and just relax, you deserve it mama!!

jas12 thanks! yeah, i remember going to disneyland when i was younger and i loved it, so quite a few years back, we decided to make it at least a yearly event. i'm sure DH isn't so fond of it, but he has to suck it up, for B's sake
2.gif
how is Co doing now that you guys are home?

misspinky she is beautiful!! love the shirt. how are you guys doing?

ETA: Gemma, how precious!!!! congrats. hope everythign is going well for your family!

Jas12, glad to hear the peeing all over does stop!

gemma, what a sweet picture of your little one.

misspinky, that onesie is awesome! Where did you get it?

Burk, I am still waiting to see if you''re definitely not pregnant!

TGal, I was looking at the Fleurville sling tote but I''ve never seen it in person so I guess it''s good that I won''t buy it. I do love that the Skip Hop looks sporty and not like a diaper bag. The Balenciaga is beautiful! Great splurge and you totally deserve it. I love the color too. I like boring colors...hopefully I get used to to my orange bag. Have a wonderful time in Vegas! Even though you''ll miss A, I''m sure this trip will be good for you and TGuy!

puffy, I realize he''ll have fussy times where I can''t do anything about it. I can usually tell when he''s just fussy and he doesn''t need anything but it''s still very frustrating. I''m not sure if you saw, but there''s a GTG this Saturday. They are having lunch in Millbrae, very close to you. I''m thinking about going. If you''re available and want to come, I''ll definitely go.

Thanks Kaleigh!

Puffy, yes it is the Day...it was a splurge for me. I love spending money on other people but just not on myself, so I''m really second guessing this and wonder if I''ve gone nuts. But it was purchased secondhand, so at least I saved some money. Glad to hear you think it''s a great/practical bag. Are you hiring a pro photog for B''s day?

snlee, I saw the sling tote in the stores, and did not think much of it. What you have to remember that isn''t really obvious in stock photos is that the material is shiny and plasticky.
14.gif
Great for cleaning up spills, but not exactly fashion forward (I''ll admit since I became a mom I''ve become fashion backward...if that was even possible from where I started!) Also, the tote is narrowish and I wonder how easy it would be to get stuff out of there if it doesn''t open wide.

Yeah, I read up a bit and the cinnamon/mogano is often considered one of Bal''s best browns, with nice leather to boot. The leather is very nice on this bag and even though I expected it to be light, I didn''t expect it to be THIS light, which I am thrilled about. I also see cute bags in stores but after I lift it, all coveting goes out the window because I would NEVER carry it.

Thanks puffy! the pic was little B''s first trip to costco. He look like he was overwhelm.

snlee, sorry to hear about your day. I remember in the early days thinking don''t babies just eat and sleep. But little B don''t sleep or nap that much and cry/fuss all day. It will get better...

Jas12, little B''s appt. is next week friday. I think he gain back the weights he lost wheile he was in the hospital. I''m just hoping he will gain a lot more, we''ll know next week.

Gemma, she is so precious!!

misspinky, she is so cute! look at her big eyes.

Burk, I remember when I was pregnant with little B and I was two weeks late and was super crampy. I keep thinking I''m going to get my AF but it never show up and the rest is history...so who knows...

Thanks Tgal, he is pretty yummy I tell ya~ have fun in vegas!

D was fussy from 8-11 this morning. It was so frustrating and I was on the verge of tears. I hate when nothing I do calms him down! Then he peed all over himself when I changed him (does it ever stop?) and had a huge spit up after I nursed him. I''ve had my hands full today! The weekend cannot come soon enough!
snlee, just read this part of your previous post. Do you have a swing in your house? It was my go to thing when Amelia was fussy. I was so dependent on it the first few weeks that all her naps were taken in the swing. I was so afraid of being anywhere else because there would be no swing! Amelia absolutely hated it when I first put her in, but I found out that if I swaddled her (with feet free so I could strap her in - miracle blanket is great for this) and tucked in blankets on the side so she felt snug, she was totally content in it.

I read "Happiest Baby on the Block" (really works for those couple of early months) and figured out that the combo of swaddle, suck, and swing (from the 5 S''s) totally worked for Amelia. In fact, I give it a lot of credit for helping Amelia on a good sleep schedule because the more I stayed sane, the more I could manage her, and the more we could work together for the better good of our household!!

Thanks for the advice. We didn''t buy a swing! We were waiting to see if we needed it. Guess we DO need it! Does Amelia still use it often? I don''t want to buy it if D won''t use if often. I watched and read Happiest Baby on the Block and it has been very helpful. Most of the time he''s content and the 5 S''s really help. I just haven''t tried the swing. I love the miracle blanket. It helps him sleep well at night.

snlee B outgrew his swing pretty quick, but i swear to you, that thing was a life saver sometimes!! when he was fussy or wouldn''t settle to sleep at night, i would put him in there, turn it on, and he was snoozing away pretty quickly after that. this sounds a bit weird, but we aren''t using our swing anymore, and if you don''t want to buy one in case D doesn''t like it, you are totally welcome to borrow ours. i don''t have any friends who need it right now, so it''s sitting in the box in the garage. i am being totally serious...if you want to try it out, let me know. hmmm, i didn''t see that. but i am totally booked saturday. but let me see what i can do with our schedule and see if i can move some things around.

tgal i was thinking about getting a photographer, but we actually chose a video guy instead. but i might still be able to convince DH that a photo guy is needed too. and the best thing about the bag is that even when you are out without the kiddie, it''s a purse for you. and you don''t have to keep much in it, but it''s always nice to know that it can fit a ton.

bobo hahahaah!!!! that is so funny! he looks so darn cute! now i really have to laugh when i see that pic! i hope his weight is ok and that he is just doing better in general. such a cutie!!

Morning, ladies! I just finished a crying/eating marathon with the girls, but at the end of this one I made a really happy discovery -- the heart-sounds bear! I got one for the girls and put it in the crib before they were born and didn''t even think to bring it in here to use in the co-sleeper, plus i wasn''t sure how they''d react, so I sorta forgot about it. Well this morning they needed to be separated for a bit (one would cry, then the other would -- by the time one was calm, the other was going again..etc, etc...), so I took Marina to the crib in the nursery to turn on the mobile and I saw the bear sitting there and decided to give it a shot. She was hooked instantly! So I went back in and got Sophie from DH and held her by the crib and she went right to sleep in my arms. They''re both back in the co-sleeper in here now, sound asleep b/c of that thing -- I think I''ll buy another one for downstairs! Oh yeah, and bonus -- it''s activated by sound too...just turned on by itself when Marina sneezed...i think i''m in love with my first baby gadget
3.gif

Snlee -- i totally agree w/tgal about the swing -- it was on my list of things i MUST have before babies even came home and they both like it.... i made sure to have a couple vibrating bouncers around too b/c my boys loved those... hang in there momma!!

i will post a halloween pic of the girls in a bit -- gotta get the pics onto the computer and we''ve been taking SOOOOOOO many pics, that could take forever. I just can''t stop taking pics!

off to find coffee...

Amelia STILL uses it (I think most babies stop using it after 5 or 6 months?) I put her in it to just detox. She's content to rock and look around the room (she no longer can fall asleep in it). She's probably in it once a day before bedtime for a few minutes. We don't use it as much as we used to, but when we did - boy oh boy - I used to say we're going to burn the machine out!

Amazon runs some serious specials on the FP rainforest swing from time to time (babycheapskate wil usually announce) and you'll find plenty secondhand on craiglist. Or the 15%-20% coupon at BRU isn't a terrible deal either.

I believe BRU will let you return if it doesn't work for you...you'd just have to take it apart again and box it back up.

ETA just saw puffy's offer...how nice!

Hi all! I just want to say congrats to Gemma and keep us posted Burk!

Sorry I can''t write more...DH''s big ol'' party is Sunday and I''m freakishly trying to get stuff done in those rare moments one or both boys doesn''t need something. (So why am I on PS???)

Later, I hear a "I dropped my paci for the 80th time" cry.

Can''t wait until Monday when I can come back more regularly!

congrats Gemma..

tgal, yay for a new diaper bag. I still love B-bags and I bet yours is fab..

Jake will finally have his 6 month check-up in about an hour. I''ll post 7 month stats when i get back..

hope you all have a great day..

Congrats to all the new mommies! Pics in this thread, especially the Halloween ones, are to die for!

Question:
A good friend had a baby around October 17th and I am going to visit her and new baby for the first time this weekend. I want to take a little something to her. We''ve already done a shower and stuff, so nothing big or anything, just a token for HER.

I am going to take the baby a book, which is what I always give. But I want to take something just for her. Any suggestions??? What did you especially appreciate or wish you had in the first month or so?

You guys have been so good at helping me pick baby shower gifts before (especially TACORI), so any ideas would be helpful.

THANK YOU IN ADVANCE!

Tgal~Time really did fly by. I can''t believe I''m already planning for the holidays!! I LOVE your new bag! So glad you treated yourself. I think I''m going to do the same...
2.gif
9.gif

puffy~so funny that your DH already knows his birthday takes a back seat!
16.gif
Maybe you could do a separate cupcake just for him so he gets a little birthday love!

snlee~ I second (third, fourth, whatever) the suggestion for the swing!!! T took swing naps until close to 6 months.

Jen~can''t wait to see the halloween pic!

jas~Let us know how the party goes! Party planning is stressful. I had my DH''s 40th last year when I was preggo and it was exhausting-can''t imagine with two little guys. Have fun!

mrss~Can''t wait to see Jake''s "stats"

ChinaCat~I personally loved it when people brought me food or gift cards for food. The first weeks all you can think about is baby, you barely remember or find time to eat, much less take the time to make a yummy meal. I appreciated it when one friend gave us a gift card for our favorite restaurant so we could order take-out and another friend brought a meal. I''m sure others will chime in with their suggestions.

AF has arrived. Finally. It would have been so exciting if I was pg, but I think the timing is off a bit. I''d like to have a couple more months with T alone before I have to deal with weeks of feeling "hung over" and I''d prefer to have the baby after October, when volleyball season is over. So, all is well that ends well. Be sure that when we do start trying in the next few months, you ladies will be the first to know about my BFP!!

Jen--how awesome that the heart beat sound works for the girls. I still use an air filter on high speed in Co''s room for the white noise.
Unlike most babies mine didn''t take to the swing. I have maybe used the thing a dozen times at most. It is collecting dust in my dining room messing up my decor with it''s bright colors
3.gif
I intend to pass it on to a friend b/c most babies luv them.

Chinacat. I second burk''s suggestion for a gift certificate. I got many that first week and used them all immediately! I also got a massage GC from DH that i was more than happy to use after the first weeks of nursing (i was VERY sore so it was more therapy than luxury and a great way to spend my first hour apart from baby)
I just visited a friend who had her baby 2 weeks ago and brought over some homemade stew, baguette and muffins. She looked relieved to not have to make dinner.

Tgal--i am sure you''ll have a blast in vegas. I am thinking of going in march for my aunt''s 50th bday. I''ve never been. I think by then i''ll b ready for my first weekend away from Co. and i''ll be okay with the possibility of my milk supply drying up while away for 3 days cuz he''ll be nearly a year by then.

Jas--good luck with the party!

MrsS. Can''t wait to hear Jake''s 7/6 stats!

Q for moms: Co is 7 months now and can pick up small items with his thumb and pointer finger (the pincher) and can clumsily feed himself doing this. I broke up tiny pieces of rice cake and he seemed fine with it but do you think it is too early for him to be eating this sort of food? Puffs are labeled as 12+ months but i am assuming they are conservative cuz of a choking hazard etc. When did your little ones start eating tiny finger foods?

I gave T puffs when she was 7 months old. She loves them! We give her lots of table foods now at 9 months so I think the 12 months is a little conservative. If you think he does fine, I wouldn''t worry.

Looks like I need to get a swing! I could sure use one now! Thanks ladies for the advice.

puffy, thank you for the generous offer! How very sweet of you! It may be helpful to try it out first. I'll talk to DH about it and decide what we'll do. Since it sounds like you get good use out of the swing and we could use it with D and future baby I think we will just go buy one. If you can, let me know about tomorrow by tonight. I probably won't go if you can't make it and I want to let them know.

ChinaCat, I love food as a gift. I've been wishing for a personal chief! I agree with Burk that you barely remember or find time to eat, much less take the time to make a meal so a good meal is always appreciated!

Burk, that's good you get to spend more time with T alone.
1.gif

jas, I hope you have a great party. I know you've been planning it for awhile.

jas12 we gave B puffs and cheerios before 7 months, maybe close to 7 months. but when i knew that he could feed it to himself, i gave it to him and he LOVES everything now. he is on table foods only now. and he still loves rice cakes. sounds like Co is ready for some finger foods.

snlee ok, but if you want to use the swing first before buying it, let me know. i will most likely not make it tomorrow. i have a lunch thing with family that i can not get out of, and i have tried already. you should go and just get out and enjoy yourself. i''m sure it will be nice. if anything changes, i will let you know ASAP.

burk aww, sorry about AF. but yeah, you should enjoy these few months with T as they are more and more fun with every passing day!

Ok. M is nursing again, though not as long as before. Maybe she''s more efficient (so I hope).

I think M is grumpy. hehe. It''s hard to get a smile or laugh out of her. She just observe and let you do silly things. She is probably thinking "Mommy, I am not amused."

Plus she is developing a bald spot on the back of her little head from turning her head back and forth on the bed.

lili
M was always fussy on the bottle, although she''s gotten less fussy. So I am also worried about her starting to prefer bottles. Hope not.

I don''t think she is teething because I felt her gum, and it''s still relatively soft. But what do I know.
4.gif

Seriously, she is too young for diva moments.

Gemma
Congratulations!!! Welcome Phillipa. She is precious, a little bundle of joy.
36.gif

msb
Thanks. Like I said to lili, I don''t think it''s teething. Maybe she has an attitude problem. hehe.

puffy
hehe. I thought M loves to eat, but I guess she also hold a grudge. hehe.

It''s ok. The last time DH went to Disneyland was for my birthday two years ago. I went last year with my parents and sister, but DH passed. hehe. I love Disneyland.

iluvcarats
Thanks. Nope, no soap, lotion, nothing. I don''t know the reason, but it''s better today.

Tacori
Yeah I read that a lot of moms wean when their babies go on nursing strike. I am ready to wean just yet.
1.gif

I think most pedi say to move on to sippy cup by 2 yrs old, right? So it''s plenty of time for Tessa.

ella
Sounds like the twins got you running around. I don''t know how moms of multiples do it.

I bet G & K will love their party at gymboree.

Burk
So true. It would be so much easier if they could tell us what they want and what''s wrong.

Yay for spending more time with Tayva.

Mrs Mitchell
Glad the jogger is working out for you.

It''s strange that strangers are giving Amelia candy without, at least, asking you if it''s ok.

Bobo
Love your new avatar.

curly
Date night was great. We went to a Japanese restaurant, and got the Chef special course where the chief just makes what he wants. It was really good; the fish was really fresh. The waitress said that they just keep bringing more food, but we stopped them because we got too full.

Meena did corporate with MIL. When we got home, she was asleep.

Aww Lily high-fived the dr after her shots. She is such a cutie pie. Love the Halloween pic. Great Lioness.

snlee
Thanks. So sorry that Derek is fussy. M''s been fussy lately too. I can''t wait til she can express herself more, so at least I know why she is fussing.

Jas12
Yeah M is back into it. Thanks god. hehe.

misspinky
Love the Obama shirt. She is adorable.

Tgal
Don''t we all (hate fussy periods).

Enjoy your new balenciaga bag and have fun in Vegas. They are not yesterday bag, just not all over the tabloids.

Jen
Isn''t it great when the gadget works.
9.gif

My work gives all newborns a music box and it arrived today. I wasn''t expecting much but turns out it''s beautiful and I love it. I look forward to using it.

D is 6 weeks old today. I can''t believe I have a 6 week old! Where did time go?

puffy, thanks for keeping the offer open. Sorry you can''t make it - next time.
2.gif
We''ll see if I go tomorrow. It depends on how things are with D. Even though I know me time is good, it''s hard to leave him for long periods of time.

QT, glad you had a wonderful anniversary dinner.

Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Thanks everyone for the suggestions!

Food it is, then. Now, since I don''t actually cook, I will have to get creative. Hope everyone has a lovely weekend.

Burk, I''m sure it''s mixed emotion of little bit sad but also relief...this is how I will feel now if I miss my AF for two weeks.

snlee, little B don''t like swing at all. He''ll sit in there for about 5 minutes and start to cry. Every baby is different, maybe you can take D to BRU and try it out?

ChinaCat, food/restaurant gift card is a great idea.

Thanks Qtiekiki, Yeah on M nursing again. Regarding bald spot, Little B don''t have hair around the back of his head, not just a bald spot so M is not too bad.

Ok Mommies, since you guys are talking about feeding finger food I''m just wondering is little B a little behind? He will be 9 months next week and he still doesn''t feed himself. is that something I need to be worry about

Bobo--will little b pick up pieces of food and put it in his mouth? Not a full meal from start to finish or anything, but just random bits? Cohen is certainly not feeding himself enough to survive off of, but more just as practice for eventually developing that skill. There is a vast range for when kids can do stuff so i wouldn''t worry. Take Co and Jadie for example. Co only rolls around and is just barely sitting whereas J is standing on her own and can crawl. Same age but vastly different abilities. I try not to worry, but i know it''s hard not to compare when moms are always discussing what their kids can/can''t do...

I went to buy puffs tonight--is that the actual name of them? I only saw gerber stars (or something like that) and i noticed in the ingredient list that they have ''natural flavor'' which is something i am anal about and avoid (it is commonly a pseudonym for msg in processed foods) and sugar. I am hoping there is another brand that doesn''t have such a long ingredient list. Anyone know?

curly
thanks. she''s a cutie as a lion.
you''ll still need to post the good picture when you find it
41.gif

puffy
wow, i get tired just hearing about it.
sounds like you and little B are going to have a super busy day.
how nice about having a trip to HI.
that should be a much deserved vacation after the hectic days of party planning.

snlee
sorry you got peed on.
just be that you didn''t get hit with poop projectile
14.gif
it was not fun.
anyway, give the swing a test drive and see if D likes it.
like little B, J wasn''t a fan the swing.
she''ll sit in there for a while, but she has never fallen asleep in it except that one time -- must be a fluke.

jas12
you are still not off the hook for pictures.
as i recall, you still owe us pictures from your thanksgiving weekend
41.gif

hehe, welcome back. hope you guys had a blast on the cruise.
were you able to have them whip up some food for Co?
That''s great that there were only 2 babies on board.....you guys (or Co) got the royal treatment.

Thanks bobo and lili for chiming in. We'll probably go to BRU and give the swing a try this weekend. DH figured out that D really likes to be in the bjorn carrier. He stops being fussy and sleeps but of course it's not feasible to carry him around all the time!

lili, that projectile poop isn't fun! We've dealt with that numerous times but it never hit me. Sometimes bath time is messy too. Once we bathed him and he peed twice and had a huge poop while in the tub. We kept draining and refilling the water. While I was holding him, he pooped in my hand!
14.gif
Then again in the towel.
23.gif
Although he poops more than average, I'm glad he isn't pooping as much as before!

snlee that''s good that your DH figured out something that will soothe D. most babies love to be in the carrier. i used the carrier for awhile when B was first born. the bjorn is a pretty popular carrier. good luck with the swings, and if D doesn''t like being in it, hopefully your next child will. are you going to the lunch tomorrow? if you are, have a great time!!!

lili haha!!! i''m stressing every day about the party, or parties! i can''s wait until we are off to hawaii!! i love hawaii and i''m hoping that B will too so i can convince DH that we have to there once a year also
2.gif

well, B is 11 months today and i just can''t believe it. after i put him to bed, i was looking at all the pictures of him since he was born. i can''t even believe he was THAT tiny. and he doesn''t even look like that anymore. i was just having a very emotional moment. i wanted to wake him up and just give him hugs and kisses all over. right now, i am more sad than happy that he is growing up. i just think back about my pregnancy and how i couldn''t wait to meet him then when he was born and i couldn''t wait for him to sleep through the night, then to walk and talk. and now all i want is my little baby back
7.gif
it has been such a roller coaster, but i am so glad that i did it. i am such an emotional mess right now. thanks for "listening" ladies. hope everyone has a great weekend!!

Jas12, little B will pick up food with his hand but he''ll just squeeze it and drop it to the floor. I guess he haven''t made the hand and mouth connection yet. I guess as a mom we worry about everything. I got the gerber star puff for little B before but he didn''t like it at all plus like you I wasn''t really happy with the ingredients in it so I just made DH finished the whole bottle.

puffy, I know exactly how you feel. That is how I feel lately watching little B getting bigger and learning to crawl, clap, talk (sort of) etc. I guess that''s how we forget the first few months of "hell time" and have 2nd baby.

2.gif

Ok, i''m finally back with pics -- sorry i''m slow!

here''s my halloween burrito babies...
