Another question for you all:

My SIL is preggo with her second (going to be a boy, first was also a boy). Some friends of hers are throwing her a shower. It''s pretty last-minute: SIL emailed me yesterday to tell me about it and it''s tonight. The people throwing her shower weren''t her friends when she had the first so they wanted to do something. Anyway, I don''t have much time to get a gift together and their first had everything so I there''s really nothing big that they need, so I''m just going to grab from my stash I have for when he''s born and Christmas. Do you think this gift is okay considering the circumstances: highchair/shopping cart cover, outfit from the Gap and a couple books? I don''t want to be the cheap aunt but I also want to have some stuff left for the Christmas. THoughts?

MrsS, well at least I feel the eating finickiness is not too weird then. Jake and Co seem like such good eaters!

Linda, thanks! Hm...maybe in this economy it would be a good thing to send pics of babies around eh? I''ll have to think on it.

Burk, I totally know the sitting and playing stage is short...my friend told me it''s the BEST stage and doesn''t last long, so trust me, I am enjoying it! Yesterday afternoon I was SO tired that I sat her on our bed with a toy that she loves. I lay next to her and put my arm around her body with a pillow on the other side, just in case. I dozed on and off (more off than on, and not really good sleep, but better than nothing) for a half hour while I heard her play. Try that when they''re mobile...not going to happen, and dangerous to boot!

Burk--I''m so sorry Tayva has had such a rough time lately. I wouldn''t worry about "creating a monster"--I slept with Jay on the couch the first 4.5 months of her life. She threw a fit for a few days when we moved her to the crib, but now she''s sleeping just fine. I would for sure let her sleep with me/in my arms if she wasn''t feeling well and not think twice about it. And I think the gift would be great--not stingy at all. Lucky her to be getting a shower the second time around
1.gif

Tacori--I agree about the TV. Jay HATES sitting still. It''s so hard to keep up with her and even harder to get anything done. However, when Yo Gabba Gabba is on, that means 30 minutes that she will sit in her chair or bouncer and I don''t have to chase her around the house.

TGal--LOL! I wouldn''t call him a "rogue" but I''m certain he did his fair share of heartbreaking in his time. You know what they say about payback...
2.gif
And I''m not sending out cards either. I''ll do a nice email with a pic and that''s about it.

Bobo--I
30.gif
that clip. Doesn''t look like B shares my sentiment though.
1.gif

I''m feeling a little under the weather today so I''m just laying around and trying to fend off the impending illness...hopefully Jay doesn''t catch it

before i even try to catch up, here are a few pics from our little trip. we have way too may pictures that i have to sort through.

ok last one....

ok no more pictures....

tacori T''s touchdown "trick" sounds pretty cute!! B totally dances differently now too. i guess cause he''s so mobile now and fearless. he gets down and shakes his booty, but that''s only cause he saw one of my cousin''s messing around and shaking her booty so now everytime he hears music he gets in "position" and just shakes it. he is a dancing machine for sure!!

tgal enjoy these moments of your little girl being able to sit there and just play. and yes, the weather was perfect, not too cold and not too hot, excpet at night it was freaking freezing!

burk poor T!!! is she better? hopefully you and her can get a break soon.

snlee how are things going? glad you enjoyed your night out.

so B has been playing hide and seek lately, kinda cute. but i guess it''s kinda like peek a boo but he will run off and go by the wall where i can''t see him, then i go get him and we both laugh. he can play this for hours! the cutest part is when i go get him, sometimes he has his hands covering his face and when i grab him he lets his hands go and starts to laugh like a mad man.

Jas12, we have similar problem here. Little B is busy exploring he doesn''t want to stop and take his bottle. It''s a battle every meal, we had to stop and let him wonder off and play for 5 minutes and drag him back to feed him.

iluvcarates, I will definitely use this photo to blackmail him when he is in his teenage year.

Thanks Burk, Little B wasn''t thrilled with the clip, keep trying to grab it off his head. I''m sorry to hear about Tayva''s ear infection on top of her pneumonia. I don''t think you guys created a monster, she is just not feeling well and want some comfort. DH and I rocked little B to sleep in our arms everyday while he was in the hospital because we know he was in pain and he needed our comfort. I think the gift is great, not stingy at all.

TGal, little B is a open book, he let me know exactly how he feels. He doesn''t know how to put food in his mouth either and like Amelia he loves his water in sippy cup but with a straw.

puffy, love the pictures, looks like B had lots of fun at Disneyland.

misspinky, congrats on getting your masters! Lots of PS dust coming your way. Jay is so cute. I love her long eyelashes!

Bobo, cute santa clip on B picture!

jas12, sorry Co is resisting daytime naps. Does that mean he sleeps longer/better at night? I have bought gifts for my mom, dad, and brother. I am giving them the same thing and I shopped online so it was pretty easy. Wow, you've gone to the bathroom while nursing? You're talented. I haven't tried that but I have mastered typing one handed on the computer while nursing.

Burk, I don't have any helpful advice but I hope T feels better and you get more sleep SOON! Sounds like a great gift for your future nephew.

TGal, I enjoyed reading your Amelia update. It's amazing watching our little ones grow and develop! Sounds like Amelia is doing great!

puffy, welcome back! glad you had a great trip! DH and I cannot wait to take D to Disneyland! Thanks for sharing pictures. B is adorable. The third picture cracked me up. His facial expression is funny. Sounds like B is doing well! He sounds adorable playing peek a boo with you!

Baby and I are doing well. I've heard that at 8 weeks things get better and so it seems like things are getting easier. D is crying less, he is less fussy, and sleeping longer at night. There is definite improvement! Yay! It also helps that DH has a 2-day workweek this week. Yay for the holidays! I am excited about my baby's first Thanksgiving.

A 2-month picture of D is coming up tomorrow! I cannot believe my baby is already 2 months old! He has a pedi appointment tomorrow and I am dreading all the shots he's going to have to get but excited to see how much he's grown. I hope he doesn't have any bad side effects.

So funny...Tessa knows she is not suppose to touch the cat food (she rarely gets the opportunity too anyways). DH and I were watching her and we would say "No, no". So she would put her hand SOOOO close to the food and then snatch it back shaking her head and she would say "no, no, no." It was like the devil on one shoulder and the angel on the other. She knew it was wrong but still tempted herself. So funny. All the fam is coming in tomorrow so I''ll probably be quiet for the weekend (but not silent!) Hope everyone has a wonderful Thanksgiving. I know we are all thankful for our beautiful, smart, talented children!
2.gif

Burk, I am so sorry. I have no advice except when Tessa got her first cold she did not act sick either (even though she was). Give it a few more nights. Hope T feels better and the Burk family gets some sleep! BTW most of the time I still don''t know what Tessa is saying but it is cool when I can
2.gif
Tessa was so fussy today so yes..."Yo Gabab Gabba" and "Blues Clues" played SEVERAL times. I am trying to get a project done (and the house clean). Bad mommy!

TGal, I am *SURE* Ame knows you are her mommy! My girl is miss independent too but lately she has gotten more clingy (I heard it is common at 12 months). She is a total Daddy''s girl too. When he comes home she says "Hi Dad!" (no joke) and gets so excited. I can''t wait until you get your dream house! I am jealous that she loves her sippy. We have a STOP on the progress so I give her water in a cup. We fight over who gets to hold it though
20.gif
Maybe she will skip the sippy step. Puffs are great. Sounds like she is doing great. I wouldn''t worry that she is not as physical. I didn''t walk until 17 months. I am such a loser
2.gif

missp, That show is so wonderful! I think it is so funny how much she gets into it. Did you see all the "Yo Gabba Gabba" toys they have out for x-mas?

Puffy, CUTE pictures! Looks like he had a great time. Welcome back. Wish I could see B dance. Sounds adorable.

Snlee, I must be lucky b/c T has NEVER had side effects from shots (not even a fever). Good luck tomorrow!

Burk
Awww poor Tayva. I agree that you are probably not forming bad habit. She needs some comfort and you gave it to her. Just try to re-establish good habits after she gets well.

Tacori
Tessa is doing the twist. hehe. I wish you could post a video.

Tgal
That''s true. My area is going down slowly. Although Pasadena and Arcadia are still pricey.
Amelia is the smart one. Why crawl when someone can take you there?
9.gif

MrsS
You are still better than me. I haven''t send out X''mas cards or email for a couple years.

misspinky
Feel better.

puffy
Awww Brady must be fun to play with. Love the pics. He is so handsome.

snlee
Hope D take the shots well tomorrow. Try to prepare yourself b/c it''s hard to watch.
I''m excited about Thanksgiving too. Especially since I haven''t been in the Bay Area for a year (my parents was visiting me every other week when I was pregnant) and it''ll be M''s first trip there/ever.

Oh I went back to work Monday and I was so out of it. I haven''t do much work yet, just getting situated. There''s no room for me to pump b/c all the conference rooms have a window. And I wasn''t able to pump in the restrooms b/c the only outlet are by the sink and I needed an extension cord (which I forgot to bring today). So I pumped in my car, which is an experience. I felt so exposed/self-conscious, which is weird because I don''t feel that way when nursing in public. Probably have to do with the pump and feeling like a cow. LOL. Hopefully I don''t feel as awkward tomorrow in the restroom/locker room, which has a big shower that no one use. I am going to close the frosted glass door, sit in there and make it my nursing room.

M has been taking the bottles very well. She actually drink 4 - 5oz a bottle now. No wonder she is so chunky. LOL

Ah, you all have the cutest babies!!!

Mrs. Salvo, Jake looks precious in the santa hat! So sweet!

Puffy, ahhh, he is darling!

MissPinky, ahhh, what a darling little girl!

BOBO, I agree, your son looks like what did you do to me? haha Way too cute; love those cheeks! hehe

Ilovcarats, cute kiddos!

Loveinathens, what a precious baby!!!

sk8rjen, your twins are adorable!!

Jas, Logan is adorable!!!

Tacori, LOL to the the devil angel on Tessas shoulder, too funny!!

TGAL, thank you for the kind anni wishes! Amelia is so precious!!!

Q, haha! I have pumped in the car (while DH drove), public restroom stall (annoying), and an airplane restroom. I had a battery pump. Sorry you had to go back to work. Hope you get back into the swing of things quickly and smoothly. Did you buy a highchair yet?
3.gif

Bobo
LOL....oh my, that look is just priceless!
A definite blackmail picture for sure!
And I think you can totally wear that clip -- give in to the holiday season.

LIA
Thanks. I did try the petroleum jelly.
It did make for one sticky and greasy baby, but her body improved dramatically the next day!
I just hope she doesn''t feel the ickiness of it all
14.gif

Regarding pumping. I''d probably wait until your feeding is a bit spaced out to start building your stash...unless of course you need to go back to work soon.
For me, I just didn''t have the energy to sit there and pump after feeding her for more than half an hour.
I did start pumping at 3 months and slowly build my stash. Since I''m a night owl, I do one pump at night a couple of hours after she went down.
After a month of building my stash, I stopped because I have no fridge space to store them.
Also, I think it was a waste of my time and milk building that stash since J hasn''t even used it.
I just pump and give her the fresh ones to drink during the day.
Oh, and snlee is right, you can added fresh (but chilled first) to your frozen milk.
And let''s see more pix of Coby please.

Tacori
So is miss independent also a talker (more so than her mama?
41.gif
)

misspinky
Awwwww.....Jaylin is sooo petite and cute.
Love her eyes and lashes.
She''s got a really sweet smile too.

puffy
Looks like B had alot of fun on the flight and in the magic kingdom.
Love the the pix of him with the mickey mouse ears!

QT
Sorry to hear of your lack of privacy to pump.
Doesn''t your workplace have a designated room for pumping in support of BFing moms?
Check with your Health and Occupational Office and see if they have lactation stations at work.
My work has those rooms and they are eqipped with refrigerator and medela professional pump too.
But of course I chose to bring my manual pump and just do it in my office.

jas12
Wow, super mommy.
I can barely hold J when she''s BFing, let alone walk around unloading dishwashers and running for the bathroom?
41.gif

Sorry to hear that Co has crossed over to J''s land of no naps,
but
36.gif
36.gif
for his starting to crawl -- get ready for a workout chasing after him.

iluvcarats
haha, do you want to make enemies out of some of us mommies who are sleep deprived and have little time to even comb her hair ?
41.gif

Skippy, it was SO funny to watch!

Lili, you KNOW it! She loves to talk even most of the time I have NO idea what she is talking about.

Lili--i giggled when you said Co has crossed into the Land of No Naps with J. I feel like i ''know'' the PS babies better than any other kids i know and i always use them as a reference point, thinking things like " oh i wish i could get Co to sleep like Amelia" or, " Jadie is crawling already" or "Jake eats lots too" , "tessa self weaned at 6.5 months" etc. etc. Co''s very "jadie" this week
2.gif
9.gif
...He''s *trying* to crawl, but not doing a good job of it, he gets on his belly and uses one leg to scoot/push himself in certain directions but then totally gives up and just does a series of rolls to get where he is going. I am in no hurry for that stage.

Tacori--oh that is too cute. Isn''t it amazing when you can almost literally see the connections they are making (the head shaking and the hand reaching) angel/devil moment is a perfect description.
Cohen has been *obssessed* with household lights lately and each time i go in and out of a room i let him turn the light switch on or off and he is highly amused. i was talking on the phone with my sister, telling her about it and each time i said the word ''light'' in the conversation i noticed Co whip his head around and crane his neck to look at the light on the ceiling. It was such a tiny thing that only a mom could find amazing but i couldn''t wait for Charlie to get home to show him. You must have so many stories to tell your DH when he gets in the door each day- the 1 yr mark sounds so fun
36.gif

Qtiekiki--sorry your first work days were blah. You are a trooper for pumpin in the car. You don''t have a battery option on your pump?

Tacori
The things we do for our babies.

lily
I know by law, they have to provide a nursing room for me. But I just don''t want to make a big deal. The public sector doesn''t offer those benefits unfortunately.

Jas12
I do have battery option, but I didn''t have batteries with me. I''ve also read that pumping with batteries was not as effective.

I brought the extension cord today. I''ll work it out.

Tgal~Your "nap" on your bed sounds fabulous!!

misspinky~Thank you for your response. We mommies can find something to stress out daily, I guess! I always worry that T''s good sleeping habits will got to he**!
20.gif
And thanks for the advice on the gift. I thought it kind of odd that they were doing a shower, especially since it''s the same sex, but lucky her is right! Hope you''re feeling better.

puffy~Cute pics. Looks like B was having a fabulous time! T is much better. I''m hoping the long weekend will help her get back to herself again! B''s peek-a-boo sounds adorable.

Bobo~Thanks! I guess if rocking is what she needs (And truth be told-I enjoy it) that is what I''ll do. I just want her to feel better and get the comfort she needs. Thanks for the advice on the gift. Such an odd situation I just wanted to be sure.

snlee~Thanks! Can''t believe D is 2 months already! Looking forward to hearing his stats and seeing the new pic!

Tacori~That is so darn adorable that Miss Tessa was saying "no, no" to the cat food. Our big no-no for T is the dog''s bed. My husband and I were both in bed by 9 last night!! How pathetic. How did we do it when she was only weeks old, I don''t know!
20.gif
Tayva really only says a few words that she actually "knows" she''s saying but those few are so cool to hear (especially "mamma") We''re also hosting Thanksgiving so I have barely been able to get anything done because T wouldn''t watch "Yo Gabba Gabba" without me-she barely lets me leave her sight lately. You''re not a bad mommy at all-just a resourceful one!
2.gif
9.gif

QT~Sorry for a rough time back at work. You were a trooper pumping in the car!! I cried the entire first week back at work so I can totally relate to how horrible it feels and then add on top of that having to pump in your car!

Tayva had a much better day yesterday. She took good naps at daycare and then another nap at home, was in bed by 6:30 and slept until 7:15 this morning without one waking!!! Looks like it was a fluke and I stressed for nothing. I hope. We are hosting Thanksgiving tomorrow so I have a ton of pies to bake tonight and things to get in order. I''ve never made a turkey before so that might be interesting. Other than that, I got a hold of my cleaning lady and she''s squeezing me in today since I''ve had no time to clean with a clingy baby. Anyone else hosting Thanksgiving? Anyone shopping Friday morning? I''m almost done Christmas shopping but I think my SIL wants to go so I might go check a few things out.

haha! my little fantasy wold!
Truth be told, when Oprah is on, I am usually driving someone to piano or drama or karate or hebrew school or soccer or tball,,,you get it. And although I know this is a big PS faux pa I have never even had a manicure. And the thought of someone touching my feet?
14.gif

In terms of Mr.iluvcarats and Victoria Secret, well, no need. These days he will take whatever he can get.

I am going to put my rose colored glasses back on. My pretend life is much more appealing!

Hi mommies,

I''m wondering if anyone is worried about the melamine finding in US forumulas. I''m feeling awful about it and really amazed they won''t release which one since it''s "not a health concern". More like the manufacturer is placing huge amount of pressure on them not to, but I would think it would be our right as consumers to know and make our own decisions.

http://www.cnn.com/2008/HEALTH/11/25/infant.formula.melamine/index.html

janinegirly, I found out about it thru safemama website and was coming here to post the news. I''m starting to wonder what is safe for our baby?

Bobo--i''ve never been on that website, i think it was posted before but i just checked it out for the first time and it has tons of good stuff. There is always something to worry about isn''t there? I try not to stress too much, although i am a big advocate for finding safer, ''just as easy'' alternatives (like water on a washcloth in place of wipes) --my opinion is if there is a safer more eco-friendly option out there why would you not use if for your baby!? I like that that site has dowloadable lists so you can take them shopping with you.

Tgal, I forgot to say that Tessa started crawling two weeks after sitting so yes that time was VERY short. It was funny b/c at first even though she could crawl she hadn''t figured out how to get from sitting to tummy so she would be "stuck."

Jas12, so cute with the lights! I totally think of the PS babies too b/c I bet you really do since you guys have babies SO close together!

Burk, interesting. NOTHING else in life matters when "Yo Gabba Gabba" is on. She ignores EVERYTHING else. Hope you get everything done and if not...no one will notice
2.gif

Q, I agree. I would do anything for her and know you all would for your babies too.

Janine, BPA reports have been out for a long time. As far as I know the only "safe" formula is the pre-portioned ones (4 oz in plastic bags) and the premixed ones in the little plastic bottles like you get at the hospital. Do I worry, of course but what can we do?> If you can''t BF you don''t have very many options KWIM. I believe that without so much consumer concerns over BPA the government would not have taken it seriously which is SAD. We mamas have power. As of 2009, BRU will be BPA, PVC free!
36.gif
for all of their baby products.

In Tacori news I am sick!
14.gif
I think I have an ear infections and let me tell you it HURTS! That combined with sore throat, running nose, etc...I am one unhappy mama. TG is my favorite holiday and I want to enjoy it
39.gif

OH NO Tacori, that is AWFUL!!! Of all times to be sick, this is NOT it. Can you make a doctor''s appt today????

I hope you feel better really fast!!!

Love, Linda

I want to wish all of the mommy''s and precious babies a Very Happy Thanksgiving.

BURK: How is T today?? Is she a little better???

Linda

Linda, I know! *whine* I have no fever so my dad thinks it is a virus. Nothing but time can heal that! At least I have help with T...

I am glad your family is there Tacori. I take a decongestant and that helps a lot with an earache.

Aww Tacori, that is awful!! So sorry. Sending "get better soon" vibes your way!!!
