MrsS, Jake is so cute! My parents lab loved T too. They are such friendly dogs.

Tacori~You''re too hard on yourself! I bet you are still stunning!
2.gif
So funny (at least to me, cuz I''m not there
3.gif
) about your T being a drama queen! My T has attitude as well...and a temper (got that from daddy!). It tends to be worse when she''s starting to get tired. I had a chat with her the other day regarding her whining....at 5.5 months. Wow, are we in for it or what? Looking forward to seeing your paintings!

Skippy~Thanks and don''t you dare go away! We''d miss you!
9.gif

Bobo~Look at that hair! Too cute. When T was refusing to eat formula we decided to try cereal. It''s easy on the belly (can actually help with reflux) and it was a way to at least get something in her belly. It took her a few tries to actually like cereal (oh, and I added some pears to it too) but I kept trying and after a while she decided she loved it!! I would have to refill her bowl constantly. Good luck!

lili~Thin hair would probably be much easier than this mop I have on my head! Every time I would lean over my hair would fall on her face or in her mouth and when they grab the hair it hurts!
9.gif

StephensBride~Your little one is adorable! That onsie is too cute! Looking forward to seeing you around! :)

Tgal~What a long girl you have there! I can relate....and I can help you find pjs that fit
2.gif
....boy has that been a crazy mess! And speaking of being HUGE...T''s onsie that matches Amelias is 6 months and it doesn''t fit.
8.gif
I tried to put a dress on her that is 6-9 months today and it was too small. The girl is 5.5 months and rivals the size of most 9 month-olds.

T''s appointment today went well. He adjusted her meds and ordered a swallow deglutition (basically an x-ray of her throat and tummy while she drinks a bottle). He was pleased that she was beyond 95th percentile for height and 75th for weight and that she seems to be getting better as time goes by so no upper GI. He thinks she''ll continue to just grow out of it!
36.gif
As for carrots, he said it''s hard to tell sometimes but at this stage in the game it''s not worth testing because this young it''s unlikely it''s an actual "allergy" and she will very likely tollerate them the next time we try. He recommended to wait for a few months and try again. After her appt we stopped at BRU and got a car seat and a highchair. DH is out of town so I spend T''s entire afternoon nap (over an hour) putting the stupid thing together. Dumb move on my part. At least it''s done. I used it to feed her tonight and she did great. Much better getting her feet where she can''t see them!
9.gif
2.gif

MrsS~Jake is such a doll! Our chocolate lab is sooo jealous of T but she LOVES him!
21.gif

tacori- labs are just the sweetest dogs. Our dog just loves jake and i'm sure she cannot wait until he's big enough to really play with her. that's great that tessa can be around a big dog too. i think it helps kids to not be afraid when they are bigger.

burk- tayva and your lab will become great buddies. my girls adore our dog and she's very protective of them. when i used to walk them in the double stroller and strangers would come close to chat my dog would stand inbetween the girls and the people. she's very friendly but she didn't want people she didn't know getting to close to them. she'll be 8 later this year and is still very puppy like. She will always be my first baby...

pics a little off center but i like it..
Mrs S it is perfectly centered... on your puppy!
3.gif

Too cute, I can''t wait for my dogs to kiss my baby too
9.gif

StephenBride, look at that smile

30.gif
, love the onesie!

Thanks Mrs.S, love the photos of Jake and his best friend. Such a sweet pix.

Tacori & Burk, love the new avatar. Question on feeding solid, do you ladies give cereal first follow by the bottle or the other way around?

Burk, glad T''s appt. went well today. Hope she will grow out of it soon..

Burk, you are too kind. Not sure I would ever describe myself as stunning but thank you.
16.gif
I am so glad your pedi thinks she will grow out of it. So are you going to try new stage 1s or wait altogether? So this is gross but you know my T used to be a spitter (never your T's types of problems) but I have noticed lately she swallows it.
14.gif
So ick but kind of nice she is not living in bibs 24/7.

Isn't feeding in a highchair great? Which one did you get? Cute AV!

MrsS, they are sweet dogs. I am not a dog person. At all. But she is very nice.

Bobo, T did not take to it so we just put it in her bottle. Starting stage 1s was tough but now she is like a little bird and opens her mouth WIDE and lunges forward. It's so funny. She likes all the food I have given her...so far.

Tacori, I saw it some where on the internet it said that give the bottle first and then 1/2 hour to an hour after the bottle then give baby the solid food. Just wondering how other mom is doing it.

Bobo, I don''t know...let''s see. She gets her morning bottle around 7 am (8oz) Then after her nap I feed her a veggie and a fruit (sometimes two veggies since she''ll eat anything). Then maybe an hour later give her a bottle (another 8oz). Then after her afternoon nap I feed her again. Usually she will have 2 more bottles before bed. I try to get her to drink 32 oz but usually it is less. She''ll throw down the bottle when she is done. It is not an exact time table. Just whenever.

Hehehe, Tacori, she throws down her bottle? Too funny!!!

MrsS, Jake is so handsome! I love that last pic you posted. He looks so deep in thought...
1.gif

Burk, glad the appointment went well! My doc said today that half of all babies have reflux and they grow out of it by six months. Still, that is no consolation while you are in the midst of it, is it?

Amelia is seriously into her hands and fingers these days. Weaning her of the paci is going to be easy if all she''s gonna want are her fingers.
20.gif

MrsS
Awweee...Jake is such a big boy.
I love the last pix....he looks like he''s deep in thought.

Bobo
I hear you on the shaving the baby''s head.
My cousin''s wife shaved their daughter and told me to shave J''s so that their hair will grow in full and thick.

Tacori
Tessa is a feisty one with attitude
5.gif

Too cute about the bottle tossing.
Can''t wait to see what her walk will be like.

TGal
Wow, Amelia is a long one.
I think J is just as heavy, if not heavier, than Amelia.
Our dr doesn''t do 3 months, so I''ll have to wait until her 4 month to see how big she''ll get.

Oh, I love the new avatars, ladies!!! And MrsS, Jake is sooooo cute! And what a strong guy for turning over at such a young age - wow! Gabe did it at 16 weeks consistently, and I thought that was young.

I now I''ve got a brown and pink onesie in the closet for Katelyn (too big for her now), so I must go check to see if it''s the same one too! Wouldn''t that be too funny?

Burk, what car seat did you get? I think I want to get the Britax Marathons, though I''m wondering if the 65-lb weight limit is really all that necessary?! I mean, I was 65 lbs. in sixth grade!! Most other car seats just go up to 40, so I''m wondering if that''s really enough? But I''d hate to have to get another car seat if Gabe (I don''t think it''ll be an issue for K) outgrows this one but stlil needs to be in a car seat. I think in MA, they need to be in them till five years old AND 40 lbs. (OK, just looked it up and ... yep. And yikes, some states require kids to be in them till they''re 8 years old! I guess that''s why they have 65 lb weight limits ... linky)

SB, Sabrina is gorgeous! What a stunner!

Lili, I don''t know if we do feedings the "right" way but we do a bottle in the am (7 oz for K, 8 for G), then after their nap, they get fruit and cereal, then prob 1-1.5 hours later they get a bottle. Then another bottle 3-4 hours later, then veggie and cereal three hours later, then one bottle at bedtime. So something like: 7 am - bottle; 10ish - solids; 11:30ish - bottle; 2-3ish - bottle; 5-5:30ish - solids; 6:30-7ish - bottle. They def. don''t take in 32 oz./day -- more like 28, I''d say. But they''re both growing and healthy, so this works for us! I''m not even sure how we fell into this pattern b/c I remember reading to give them the bottles like an hour before solids, too, but somehow this is what we wound up with.

Tacori, I wanna see those paintings! The ones you did for T''s nursery were so great - I wish you could do some for us!

Tgal, told you....DRAMA QUEEN. Oh she is a screamer too. Good thing she is so cute. Everything goes into her mouth too but she is still attached to her pacis. Truthfully I rather it be her paci than her thumb. But it is so cute when they find their feet.

lili, hopefully it will be awhile until she walks! So not ready for that. She does stand with her hands on the floor sometimes (does that make sense). I was a late walker so I hope she takes after me.

ella, I got the roundabout. Haven''t used it yet but I think I will like it. LC uses that for Miller and he is very tall. I looked up NC''s law and it is 8/80 lbs
23.gif
But luckily that is for a booster (I think it was 40 lbs for carseat). Poor T will be in 8th grade still in a booster. How did the rest of us survive?!? I remember sitting in the front seat when I was like 4.

OK, here''s our "brownie" shot :)

IMG_2171.jpg

ellaila K is so cute... there is something very ladylike about her expression in that picture! She is like a little lady trapped in a cutesie-pie baby body!

Mornin''

Busy weekend for me--but lots of fun (i''ll post pics tomorrow--i never remember my camera so i''ll have to steal them off my sister''s FB page when she posts them)

SB--welcome back--glad you are feeling better. You have one stunning daughter!

Mrs.S. no fluke that jake is rolling over--Cohen has done so many times as well--same thing as jake, gets on his tummy and then flips over. We have big boys!

Tgal--Amelia is growing fast! Co has really found his hands and his smile in the past 2 weeks as well.

Tacori--Tessa is so cute. I luv when personality come out like that, even if it is a little naughty ;-) Don''t worry however, when i worked at the daycare about 1/2 the babies went thru the ''drama queen'' stage (was not as cute by the end of the day when i had bent down and picked up dozens of bottles off the ground. Once one kid started the others would naturally copy!)

Funny story about the Miracle Blanket. My sister and i had many guests at our cottage this weekend and i had Cohen out there all day. He was throwing a bit of a fit and one of my friends followed me into the bedroom to watch me put him down (she doesn''t have kids). I placed him on the MB (still screaming), started to swaddle him (crying reduces), finish swaddle and stroke his head 3 or 4 times (out like a light!!!). he went from screaming to sleeping in about 30 seconds- She could not believe her eyes--i overhead he telling her BF about it in a tone of awe--hehe. I bet i know what she''ll be buying when she gets pregnant
1.gif

Hey Jas, I've been meaning to ask you something. I know you had a natural labor and also worked out a lot before hand. What excercises do you think helped you out the most? I will have a natural labor as well and wanted to see if there is anything in particular I should add to my workouts. I imagine stamina is probably the most important
2.gif

Dreamer--i think just being fit in general will help a lot. I resumed my regular exercise regime (step classes, weight lifting, spinning classes and walking or jogging) till around 5 months. At the 5 month mark I was was just weight lifting doing step classes and walking--i did this as usual to 8.5 months and the last month i mostly swam just cuz i was so uncomfortable. I do believe the weight lifting helped with pushing. The OB was impressed with my strength after 8 hours of ''light'' labor at home and then 8 hours of very heavy labor in the hospital--i don''t think i would have been able to do it so quickly if i were not in shape (i acutally really luved pushing--felt so good to do something after hours of agony).
The Bradley Method book has some specific exercises to do in preperation for L & D. you may want to check that out. I do think that your mind-set may have an even greater impact than your physical condition (esp. regarding pain management)--reading and being really informed about natural childbirth helped me with this. Are you getting excited/nervous about the birth?

mrss~Our lab is great at watching over T-he even "guards" her when she''s playing on the floor!
21.gif
I hope they become buddies down the road!

Bobo~Thanks! We fed T cereal first. Then bath, books then night time bottle.

Tacori~We''re exciting that there is hope for Ms T and her issues!
3.gif
I''ve re-introduced the stage 1s she did well on (peas, prunes, sweet potatoes, and pears) and I''m introducing squash today and will continue it once a day for a week as per recommendation of the doc. As for the swallowing spit...my T does it too! Although, many times hers is really acidy form her reflux and she''ll get upset when she swallows it. The highchair was a must. T was just too interested in her toes, my curtains, the toaster, whatever was in her view while she ate. I ended up just getting the evenflo with the jungle toys. It''s surely not as cool as yours but its functional and it''s pretty mute (brown) so it doesn''t scream baby.
2.gif
Your new avatar is adorable. I love naked babies!

Tgal~Thanks! My doc said yesterday that 50% of babies spit up 0-3 mos and then 75% of babies spit up from 3-6 mos!

Speaking of stats and docs, the handout we got about reflux was very interesting and it may help some of you mommies wondering. It''s titled "Spit Happens" and on one side it talks about how it''s common for babies to spit up and gives the stats I mentioned above. Also gives some tips. Then on the right it gives worrisome symptoms and says if your babies has any of these to contact your healthcare provider... they are: 1. Vomitting with blood, green or yellow fluit and poor weight gain 2. inconsolable or severe crying and irritability 3. persistent food refusal with pooor growth or failur to thrive or difficulty eating and 4. breathing problems including repeat pneumonia, chronic cough, wheezing and difficulty breathing. T has parts of all 4! Poor kid.

Ella~We got the Evenflo Triumph. I had researched forever and knew we''d be getting 2 so wanted something reasonable and when I went to BRU last week they were featuring it and I had seen it on many of the reviews I read so when I went back yesterday I decided to get 1 and give it a try. It goes to 50 lbs which I thought was a good "happy medium." I''ll let you know what we think, as I think we''ll probably be moving her into it soon. She just looks like she doesn''t belong in an infant carrier anymore and she''s been kicking the thing that adjusts the tightness of the straps with her ankle and it gets all red. Just time to move on I think. Here is a link to one of the reviews I read about it: http://www.consumersearch.com/www/family/car-seats/ Oh, and cute shot of K!

Jas12~ Glad you had a great weekend. Too funny about Co and the Miracle Blanket...reason why they call it a miracle huh?
9.gif

Can''t wait for pics.

Okay. T is refusing to nap so I think we''ll eat some lunch. Time for squash.....BBL

Oh, and real quick...check out the new paci I got her this weekend at a baby boutique in Kansas City. I thought it was pretty appropriate at the time!!

tnewbinky.jpg

ahh...can't read it. Trying a closer pic.

ETA-Still hard to read.

It says "whine connoisseur"

That''s what I thought... I don''t work out nearly as much as you but I am going to make sure I get my activity in every day and I will keep up with lighter weight training too.

I am very excited about the birth and although it seems crazy, I am not nervous at this point. I will have a midwife assisted birth, and that whole way of thinking of labor and delivery is very natural for me. Growing up, my mom talked about my birth a lot in very positive terms (e.g., it is "work" and "good pain"), and she had a midwife assissted natural birth, and I do think that how one conceptualizes the experience can matter. Our closest friends had a natural birth with both their kids, as did many of our other friends, so I am under no delusions about how difficult the experience is.... but I trust my midwife (she delivered our friend''s kids too!) and she will be present during the whole labor and delivery to help coach me through pain management etc... when it gets closer I will talk in more detail with my friends who had natural births about things that they thought worked/didn''t work for them. Should be interesting, to say the least

Was there a book you found particularly useful?

Okay, Tayva''s cheecks are killing me thay are so big and round and pinchable!

And Tessa''s expression in that picture is about the funniest and cutest thing I have ever seen! She looks like she is playing all innocent, but you know she is planning something!

Burk--Tayva is going to be one beautiful girl--luv that paci--so cute. I should get one for Cohen since i have been dipping in the wine lately ;-)

Someone must make a collage of all the brown onesies--Tacori, luv tessa''s contribution.

Dreamer--obviously things can/do go wrong with L & D and you know what they say about the best laid plans (just ask Tgal
3.gif
), it''s a crazy unpredictable experience but i think that for the vast majority of women safe and natural go hand and hand. I didn''t like my hospital experience at all and if given the choice next time i would do whatever it took to get a midwife , but that is just me. I was like you and my mom talked openly about birth so i looked forward to for most of my adult life and, this might be a bit odd, but i can''t wait to experience it again (hopefully more on my own terms and without a Dr. trying to undermine my abilities). Ina May''s Guide to Childbirth and The Bradley Method were my favourite books. Very empowering.

I agree with you completely, which is why I am under a midwife''s care. I''ll check out those books for sure!
