Tacori, according to the report the only BPA free formula that is out on the market is the Similac 32 oz ready to serve and the ones in single serving packet. Which I think really sucks. All formula should be BPA free period.

lili, little B is all face. I think the cheeks alone is 10 lbs.

Burk, it will be so cute if they can rid their cars together. little B''s toes is barely touching the floor so I guess we still have some time before he start walking in his.

Lili, thanks. Still not sure how to describe her eye color. Some days they are really blue, other days gray, once in awhile green
33.gif
I just know they aren''t brown (like mine).

Diva, I follow my docs advice and wait 15 mins. T does not look like the same baby in her hospital photos. It is scary how different she looked.

Burk, I don''t know she was SCREAMING
6.gif
But most people have been there. We had a few men come up to us in baggage claim and told us not to worry about it and tell us stories about traveling with their kids.

MrsS, thanks! I know it will be fine. Good luck to all April babies and their check ups. I agree, shots are no fun for ANYONE!

bobo, well that sucks. Not sure what I can do about that. I guess I am just glad that all her bottles have been safe so hopefully her exposure has been small. Did I tell you I had to change ALL of her pacis?
20.gif
stupid PVC and lead.

Hi mommies,

I don''t post very much but I do read all the great info you guys share. Which formula do you guys use and why? I''m wondering which is better between Similac and Enfamil. I''m really disappointed to read that there is BPA in formula
7.gif
Thanks in advance for your input.

Tacori, change all her pacis? that SUCKS!! what brand were you using??

Lucy, we feed little B what ever the nurse gave us at the hospital I think it was Enfamil. But she send us home with a big welcome package from Similac so that''s how we end up with Similac. Plus little B was colicky so we switched him to soy formula. I know a lot of mom out there try different brand of formula and see which one their little one react the best to and just go with that one.

Lucy we have used both. I switched to Enfamil though b/c I had better coupons
37.gif
haha. Luckily my baby doesn''t seem to mind.

Lucy~Our doc said there really is no difference between the basic Similac and Enfamil. I agree with Tacori, Enfamil has WAY better coupons! If you start getting into Soy, Hypoallergenic, and other varieties I believe there are some differences (and I can tell you all about hypoallergenic differences- unfortunately for our DD she''s on one
2.gif
).

Formula: and then you might want to buy one, but your kid prefers another. that happens too. I buy the Costo generic it''s $19 for 2 cans.

Hello Ladies,

Just catching up on all the news as I have been on the other side of the country with hubs who was having a job interview. Totally off topic, but is it sad that I was slightly excited that the company who interviewed him is one of the world''s largest platinum producers? Most of the time my eyes glaze over when my husband starts banging on about his work, but occasionally when he mentions precious metals my ears prick up. Now if only I could convince him to get a job with a diamond producer...
31.gif

On a related note, I was hoping to use the child-free time to get some quality sleep-in time. I was also rather excited that we were being put up in a 5 star hotel. Unfortunately said 5 star hotel had the hardest bed I''ve ever had the misfortune to sleep on. I actually got less sleep than I would have gotten at home. Oh well. The break was nice, but it was even nicer to see my terrible two when we got home.

Lucy - my pedi says there''s no real difference between the Similac Advance (blue label) and the Enfamil Lipil (yellow label). My little James has had both and was fine with each. However, he''s super gassy and gets very uncomfortable so we got the go ahead to try the Enfamil Gentlease Lipil (purple label) and see how that goes. I agree that Enfamil has better coupons so we''ll probably stick with that or maybe even switch to a store brand to save money.

Lucy, we used Enfamil because it was what they started her out on in the hospital and since she didn''t have any negative reactions, we figured there was no reason to switch it. Also as others have stated, you can get great coupons. AND as a child of the 70s, my mom gave me Enfamil so since it''s been around that long and I turned out fairly well, I figured it was safe to give it to my child!

Costco Generic is EXACTLY the same as Enfamil. I dunno why anyone pays $25 a can when you can pay around $9. Both my kiddos have done just fine on it.

I keep reiterating it, but formula is such a waste of money, and they get you at the "buy name brand for your babe or they aren''t getting the best" emotional aspect of it...when really, I even believe that Kirkland Formula is made by Enfamil & the private labeled by Costco.

Just a thought. If you used 1 can of Enfamil a week..even if you had great coupons & it was only $20 a can, over 52 weeks that will run you $1040. Or, if you pay full retail most of the time $25 a can...its $1300 a year.

Kirklands 2 can pack is $19.79. That is $9.80 a can, and comes out to $514 a year. Ummm, that''s a LOT of money saved.

And the other generics, Kroger, Parent''s Choice, Safeway, Target, are all the same deal if you don''t have Costco close by. Full nutrients, DHA/ARA, etc...I just like the Costco because its the least cost & easiest for me to pick up.

I read an entire expose on how the formula companies tried to drive people away from the generics, and how truly, they are flat out robbing people with those costs.

Just my .02. Or $500 leftover cash. However you want to look at it!!

Ugh...I had my interview with 24hour fitness & I hope it went well! I did great on part of it, and bobbled the salsa part, so I hope that doesn''t count against me...I''d love to work there! I hate it when I make mistakes...

I also read that formula is FDA governed, so that buying no-name brand is just the same as buying the generic version of a medication.

Diver, I hope you get it!

Here we go...month 4 for our April babies starts with Amelia!

Stats from her 4 month appointment -

Weight 14lb12oz/ 75th%ile
Height 26"/95th%ile
Head 41cm/50th%ile

I''ve got a tall girl on my hands!

Here she is looking happy before her appointment. She was not nearly as happy after her vaccinations!!

IMG_1329a.jpg

Wow, she is already 4 months!!! She is such an adorable baby, so darling!!!
36.gif

oh tgal..she is so pretty, love that smile!!

OK, back to the posts...

re: 2nd kid...I had an easy pregnancy, but boy oh boy, I cannot IMAGINE being pregnant with a child already underfoot. I was so exhausted during my pregnancy, I couldn''t even think straight! Yet Curlygirl and Diver seemed to handle it beautifully!!!

Burk, woo hoo for Tayva''s tooth! Has she had any issues teething?

Diva, good to hear you''re aware of the head issue. Like Tacori said, I think a lot of docs are fine with carseat sleeping early on, especially if the baby has reflux or breathing issues (which is the reason my friend kept her baby in there). But boy oh boy, it''s tough getting around that flat head if they are in it for months for long periods at a time. I think though that Asian babies are more prone to flat head than caucasian ones...that''s my theory anyway because I never see white babies with flat heads.

re: fussing - early on, I pretty much went over and quickly checked that everything is OK. Now as long as she isn''t screaming bloody murder (which she doesn''t often do, otherwise it probably wouldn''t faze me), I let her go for 10 or so minutes. Amelia is definitely spirited, but she doesn''t fuss all that much unless something is wrong.

OK, girly hair stuff question...Curly and Burk, I see that you guys have such cute things in your girls'' hair. What do you use?

lili, aw girl, I am sorry you are not getting much sleep. And yet you always seem so upbeat and full of humor. You''re a trooper!

SS, welcome home. Platinum eh?
36.gif

Lucy, we use Enfamil, and I have a ton of cans right now. I may try the generic as Diver suggested as Amelia will be a tad older then.

Thank Skippy and MrsS!

Can''t wait to see the other April babies and how they are doing. I''ll pass the baton to lili and then she can pass to you MrsS!

Thought I''d add one more of her zoning out in her playmat!

Diver~Couldn't agree more on the formula front. I don't even want to think about how much money we've spent on formula since we've tried everything and she has done well on hypoallergenic (about $40-50 a week!
23.gif
) I'm sure your interview went great. Keep us posted!

Tgal~Amelias stats look so similar to T's! Tall, skinny with a little mellon!

Amelia looks so darn adorable in the pics. It's amazing how much they change. As for the bows-I've bought a few different ones but only use the bows like in my avatar because they're big enough that I'm not too scared she'll choke fi she were to happen and get it out. I like them also because they are like a clip that you can just clamp open but it's all covered in fabric so they're easy to put in and get out and don't hurt her head. (Hard to explain...sorry) Got them at Target I think. Teething. Well, the past few days have been a little rough. She is just a little needy during the day. Not as independent as usual. And at night, she wakes a couple times screaming, but when I go in and give her the binky back and pat her back so goes back to sleep. All in all, not too terrible. I just fear that we're creating some bad habbits with the constant night waking, but I think she just wakes in pain? Who knows. Wish they could tell us!

TGal, Amelia is sooooo grown up!! I can''t believe it''s been 4 months already. She is just gorgeous and seems to be thriving. Good job, mama!!!! Regarding hair accessories, I HAVE to put something in Lily''s hair every day because her "bangs" are soooo long and I refuse to cut them! I found these hair bands that are really small and they look like they''re made of stretchy plastic--I''m not sure how to describe them properly! I got them at the dollar store and they are made by Vidal Sassoon but I''m pretty sure Goody makes them as well and you can probably find them at Target or any drugstore. So I use those to make a ponytail or pigtails and then I have tons of these "curlies" clips from Gymboree that I put over the elastic bands for decoration. I also use those stretchy terry cloth looking ponytail holders in different colors over the regular bands. She hates to sit still for me to do it so I''m usually rushing around and whatever happens is what she''s stuck with until she gets to daycare where she LOVES to let her teacher give her all different styles including french braids!!! Good thing I''m not the jealous type!

Plus, I can barely do my own hair so I try to keep it simple.

Yep, almost every large private label brand is supplied by and sourced by the national brand. Trust me, you can trust me on that. It''s what I do.

question to all the mommies, does your stretch marks come back red and super itchy?

Stretch Marks has taken over pretty much all the stomach area and almost 6 months after little B is born most of them are fading into a light color but since this week some of them are turning red again and super itchy, any you ladies experience that??

I'm putting on lotion like crazy but it's not helping, wonder if I should go see the doctor for it.

ETA: TGal, Amelia is sooooo cute~ and she is the same weight and height as little B. and little B is soon to be six months.

tgal, i just had to stop in and say how adorable amelia is! too cute...i love seeing all the baby pics on this thread, PS just has the cuddliest babies.

That is really interesting about the formula--kirkland brand is SO much cheaper. I can''t believe it is the same stuff!

Tgal--Amelia is just beautiful. Wholly smokies she is growing so fast! I think i have an appnt for Co next week so i can report on his ''stats'' (it''s terrible but i have yet to get any of his shots and must do that this week)

Bobo~Sorry I can''t help. I didn''t get any stretch marks. I would call your doc.

Okay....here are a few of T''s 6 mo pics. Our photographer is coming over again this week because we didn''t get any family shots that I like.
