Royal Jewels

i love Princess Christina, everytime i see a botton tiara i love them a little bit more, but this one has never looked so lovely as it did this year

If she had just worn the top one, I probably wouldn't haven't complained. At the very least I would have had to do a closer look to tell if i was Swarovski or diamond. However, the bottom one was a dead giveaway. It just looks like chunks of plastic hanging on a thread.

oh dear God
thankfully i have only brought two over priced Swarovski fashion pieces
i used to love the crystal oriments the jewler sold but then the Swarovski shop came to town and boy they assult you with in-your-face sales tactics as soon as you come in the door
ive never worn either, they looked so lovely in the shop (i thought at the time), but it was short change compaired to this !

if they want to buy lesser value pieces why not buy from local artisian artists, just starting out who often do beautiful and edgy pieces in silver

i do bet it looked absolutly beautiful in the lighting in the shop or where ever she brought it
im kinda hoping its a loaner - as much as i dont like that idea either
HM her MIL is so good at finding stuff gathering dust in the vault, was there nothing in there for a good dutiful DIL that could be a lifetime loan ?

Or she could've worn one of the wide diamond bracelets on a velvet choker. The one Madeleine wore at her wedding was originally a choker amd was worn as such by Grand Duchess Louise of Baden. Queen Margrethe II has also worn a large bracelet as choker in the past.

Re: the two Swarovski necklaces, perhaps she is a brand ambassador for them?

Personally, even if the necklaces were made with diamonds, they do not make a good match worn together.

Just the top one would be fine and sufficient with her dress's neckline IMHO.

The bottom one is too long for that neckline, again, IMHO.

Together they just looked a mess, kind of desperate in a show off way, again IMHO.

She could have borrow something a bit more classy from the family vault, IMHO.

Perhaps she wanted to make her own marks, who knows?

DK

Yesterday evening, the King hosted his dinner for the Nobel laureates at the Royal Palace in Stockholm.
I was thinking of posting photos, but figured that the jewels will be best appreciated in motion!
You can forward to when the royals start arriving at 3.20 min, unless you want to see fashion of the other guests ;-)

A brief overview of the jewels from last night:
- The Queen wore the imposing Leuchtenberg sapphires
- The Crown Princess wore the Connaught tiara, huge pearl drop earrings and an opal brooch that was last seen in 1935!
- Princess Sofia didn't surprise anyone with her tiara, but she also wore a small ruby bracelet to match her red gown - the back chain from the Edwardian ruby tiara, a ruby cluster brooch and the large floral earrings
- Princess Christina repeated her tiara, but donned her small sapphire necklace and diamond floral brooch
- Countess Bettina wore the family's multicolour sapphire spike tiara

i think the crystal things would have looked better with the red dress - not that i want to see them
but i do like to see a necklace

Her red dress was similar to the one I wore for my event (see pate 623). I couldn't imagine wearing that dress without a necklace!

im watching that BS cod' wadle on netflex
i know i shouldnt watch it but i have American frineds who beleave this stuff and as a loyal subject i need to defend the Royal family's honour
my blood is boiling
you know my dad had died maybe two years before Diana, my sister was still at high school
i would be hurt and mortified if i had to watch a fictiouse account of it
I hope Prince William never ever watches this
its as hurtful as when they protryaed the death of Prince Philip's sister, and that really upset Philip many many years latter
and just on Philip, why odes his actor look more like King Jean Carlos of Spain ?

you know the brooches on the Crown are p*ss poor but consideing we have seen so few brooches this year can i really complain ?
but they are tenny tiny little things not the big brooches we remember HM wearing
and the2 strands of pearls are pretty misserable looking too

i have a question for @dk168
on the pearl forum in the last day or two someone (maybe a trade member) was talking about how he/she (i cant remember who said it and ive looked back but boy there is this thread i wish i had never opened ) had seen older strands (not FW) with the back pearls near the clasp wear right down - now HM had more than one strand of pearls but those Queen Caroline and Queen Anne strands are some of the oldest jewles in the vault - have we ever seen much of the back of HM's pearls and did they show that kind of wearing ?

Don't know. However, I suspect worn down pearls would have been replaced when the strands were re-strung through the years.

DK :))

no photos so no jewles but the Danish Crown Princly couple are on holiday in Queenstown NZ
i hope they are having a lovely time and recharging in private
there is one particulay awful Aussie woman's mag who have been horrible to Princess Mary for many years, as they are also horrible about the state of every high profile royal marrage,

The Queen got into the festive spirit as she brought Christmas cheer to youngsters at a children's hospice earlier.
Wishing everyone "a very Happy Christmas" she toured Charlton Farm Children's Hospice on the outskirts of Bristol.
Queen Camilla met four-year-old Kitty Jones, who was dressed for the occasion in an Elsa dress from the film Frozen.
Kitty and her parents, Georgina and Dave Jones, were helped by the hospice after a bereavement.
Bending down to meet her and to examine the fabric of her gown, the Queen told Kitty: "Don't you look pretty.
"Isn't that lovely and your necklace and a crown as well."
