The diamonds are 20 pters so a little less then 4mm wide. I have a plat Tiffany Elsa Peretti that I bought off the bistro for a killer price. I was going to use it as my wedding band but it is only 2.6mm. It looks fine but I think I'll go try on something closer to 3mm or 3.5mm so there is a better balance. My problem is I don't have room on my squatty fingers, not like some of the ladies here that can really stack. I just ordered a couple 2mm 18k yg bands from Blue Nile to wear on either side to give me a different look. I received a couple of coupons at my 2 emails one was for $100 off and the other $50 off so both bands will be $250 total. I've also tried on thin channel set bands on either side and loved the look.

PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE post pictures of it with the YG bands when you get them! I love mixing metals and I'm sure it will be so unique and wonderful!

They just came but unfortunately the dome isn't high enough so they have to go back. It kills me because the price was so good. They don't look right when viewed from the side. The bands look too flat. The 2mm width is ok but my fingers are so short that in the summer I don't think they would be comfortable. I ordered them a 1/2 size larger so I'm thinking that I need to find bands that are made of round wire that way they are 2mm high and wide with less metal actually touching my finger. What do think of the proportion?

I tried adding a photo but when I hit "add the file" the file name disappears. I'll try later.

This is a great thread and a wonderful idea! I love looking at these rings ... I keep coming back to see new ones as they're posted. Sometimes on PS you think you need 20K in order to just get started, so this shows how MUCH you can do with 5K. LOVE IT!!!!

I know problem is most people who come with a budget leave after they got the ring :(

I want more lovelies!

.75 round size 6
.25 band size 6.25
less than 5000 for both from Jared

Love this idea! Perfect to show that even on a budget you can have a beautiful, high quality ring.
Mine isn't my original ering, it's my new/upgrade.
I had always wanted either an EC or asscher and had found the ec band prior to finding the stone for my solitaire.
I love my set & really can't ever imagine upgrading, of course I can imagine buying additional diamonds (AVC is next, yum)and setting them in multiple rings :naughty:
EC was just under $3k and is 1.11ct K color VVS1. Setting is Sholdt 18k WG. grand total $4400.

Wowee! Your set is to die for! I love the cut of your stones. Your band is amazing. You have great taste!!!

Thanks vickygigi! You're so sweet. I love stepcut stones so this suites me. I was lucky to find the band first then everything just came together. Ps has been so valuble, without this site I doubt I would have come up with my set or known how to choose a diamond.

:o     I literally just gasped! The two-tone is heavenly. I do agree with you that the dome heights on the bands are slightly too small for the engagement ring but I don't think it's that noticeable until you pointed it out honestly. If you are unsatisfied with it then you should return them but 3rd person perspective your set is TO DIE FOR!!! :)

Hello everyone... I'm a long time lurker while shopping for my e-ring, and glad to be able to finally post my ER! We had a budget of 5k, so I was grateful we were able to get my ER for just shy of the limit (yes, this gal took it right up to the limit though!) at $4900. It was custom made, since I'm not a big fan of the super thin shanks on most of the halo styles. Unfortunately, I didn't learn about JA, WF, or GOG until after we had already started the custom work. Nonetheless, I think it turned out ok...

The specs are 1.61tcw 18kt white gold; the center is a GIA 0.91ct cushion, with F color and VS1 clarity. Thanks for keeping me sane with all of the gorgeous pictures of your beautiful rings while I waited for this to be done!

Thanks!!! I appreciate the validation since I was a wreck during the design process - second guessing just about everything... Thankfully, I was working with a very patient and kind jeweler, who humored my numerous emails and questions along the way. I so *love* this ring, but not as much as I love my wonderful Fiancé! ::)

Your ring is really lovely Stonewell!! What are you planning to wear as a Wband? Will that be custom to match your beautiful ering?

I'm pretty sure my fiance spent about $3500 for my ring. The center stone is a .485 I VS2 Brian Gavin Signature H&A (AGS000) and the side stones are .20 F, VS clarity. The lovely 18k rose gold setting is also by Brian Gavin. My ring size is 5.25.

I know that people usually allocate the majority of their budget to the center stone, with the remainder going to he setting, but my fiance took a little more unorthadox approach and did the opposite -- the setting was about $2200 and the center stone about $1300. I think it paid off, though, as the ring as whole is absolutely beautiful and I love the finger coverage and extra sparkle from the pears. Plus, the workmanship is impeccable and seems to hold up to infinite scrutiny. I can't imagine preferring a plainer/solitaire setting just for a slightly bigger center stone. I also want to say that I'm really glad he went with an I color. It looks perfectly white to me (in fact, it often looks whiter than the two pears, which are Fs, just because it's so bright and well cut) so paying more for a higher color wouldn't have been worth it. And though I can't actually see any tint in stone, I have a theory that a stone with a slight hint of warmth might actually be more flattering to my skin tone than the iciest white.

1.27 D Si2 GOG pear 4200. Purchased12/11
Gabriel setting 750.00 purchased 4/12
Total $4950.00!
Matching wedding band purchased 6/12 $ 650.00
puts us over but:)
BGD band preloved 10/12

What's your ring size? I was considering that exact Gabriel and Co setting but I'm afraid it would look very thin on my fingers.

I can't believe these rings are $5k or under. They all look like way more. Unbelievable. It goes to show u , u don't have to go broke to get a stunning look and finger coverage! :D
:appl:

Yes. Exactly. According to the traditional industry calculation I should have spent something like 30k. No thank you DeBeers! I chose the pricepoint, the stones, the design, and the ring and came in under 5k, thanks to the help of PriceScope and this thread. I will post pics as soon as the FH "surprises" me ;)
