You got some beautiful shots there, thanks so much for posting them!

Thanx!! my FI was amazed by those lights

hehehe

the sun actually came out today and I was fiddling with the settings in manual - I have NO idea what they mean but I bumped something or other up so that there wasn't so much glare and I just love how this pic turned out!!! I love that it has fire and refraction and reflections all in one - I love how you can see down into the diamond at the pavillion and I love how the culet is replicated in the kite facet - now just picture it in a pretty setting haha!! I got several really cool ones but this was my fav with fire and my other thread of shots is closed so I'm taking the hint that everyone's sick of this dang unset stone but I couldn't resist this one ;)

ETA: this is late afternoon sun in the north west where the sun sets before 5pm and never goes very high in the sky this time of year lol It is soooo hard to get blingy fire shots in the winter here!!! Mostly because of the constant cloud cover lol!

The sun was out a little bit today, so I was able to get a somewhat decent pic. Not the fire that I''ve seen on other posts, but oh, well!

Wow, great shots you guys, beautiful!!

Scott, what lighting did you use? doesn''t really look like sunlight...

2Bmarried, we love all fire shots.

Cehra, you''ve GOT to get that thing set....

Thanks for posting all, I love seeing new pics!

Thanks for the compliments! I took quite a few shots before these ones were finally acheived. As a matter of fact those two are afternoon sunlight shots, I think that using the black velvet background is what is making the colors pop

Here is my first attempt at a decent shot. I''ve got a lot to learn about photography.

Wow Scott what a beautiful ring.
Do you have more pics?
What is the size of the center stone?

Hi Kenny, thanks for your compliment :) The thread for my ring is here Lots and lots of pics await you... and its a 1.15 ct OMC. I cant wait to see how you set your beautiful asscher!

SecondCity, you did very well for a first attempt, very pretty!

Just keep experimenting, with lighting, angles, distance, surfaces. You never know what may turn out great. And it''s fun.

Thanks for posting!

Norton is telling me this is a high risk, not to accept. I''m not all that savy on these things. Is it OK??

YAY for catching fire in my ASSCHER!

Here is a little part of an Economist mag article I read the other day.

It perhaps partially explains why the camera and the eye do not always agree. (but of course the eye is still looking at the photo''s on the screen

Thanks Storm - I missed that

Sergey has some 360 degree lighting models that are amazing - they are very precise 3D photo''s taken with advanced cameras. This one is from memory beside a river in a heavily wooded forest

These are my first shots in the sunlight. I was in such a hurry that we forgot to clean the ring. However, I think some of these turned out nice.

That''s the way, just keep experimenting. And you''ll find that you get different types of shots at different times of day with the differing angles of the sun. I''ve also found that some surfaces (and the color of them) allow better fire than others.

Come back when you get more!

Good lord, Scott, that photo looks like that diamond is in outer space!!! Incredible!

I have a new one to add. I really like this one... it''s a little different than the other "fire" photos I have gotten...
