Thanks. Definitely a work in progress - I am just starting to learn how to get quality shots. Very fun!

That''s the way, just keep experimenting. And you''ll find that you get different types of shots at different times of day with the differing angles of the sun. I''ve also found that some surfaces (and the color of them) allow better fire than others.

Come back when you get more!
yeah, portland oregon is pretty far north and even when we get a clear day the sun stays low on the horizon and I can''t get the intense shots I got during the summer! My ring will be very happy in socal :D

Lynn, love it, thanks!!

It''s so nice to have new posts in here.

I am a new member here, and spent some time cleaning my jewlery today!
The sunlight in Tampa was just perfect for me to snap these pictures!!

These are my diamond studs that my husband bought my (huge surprise!) last Valentines Day. I don''t have all the specs,
but do know they are 2 Cttw and VVS1 G color.

This one incluses my enagagement ring which is a 2.46 VS2-SI1 I color, not certified. I have no idea about the cut, but it has a lot of brilliance
and I get a ton of compliments on it!

One more of just the ring!!!

Gothgirl, thanks. Love the colors!!

tqueen, first, welcome to PS. And thank you for sharing your lovlies with us, they''re gorgeous!!

The sun finally showed yesterday here in the North Country. This is my 1.50 F VS2 showing some yellow fire. The two smaller stones in the temporary settings are ideal cut .42 and .43 J SI1s (both HCA 1.4), waiting to be set as earrings. Thanks to PS for teaching this newbie about the joys of Js!

So pretty, Cehrabehra! Love the sparkly pics! Thanks for sharing!!!

cehra, I love how your stone gives off those huge stars, bootiful!

I need to get a macro lens!!!!

Anyway, here''s the best I got with my camera. Hopefully I''ll get to take this to my brother''s house and have it photographed there.

collage_curiopotter1.jpg

curio, you''ve got quite a fireball there, thanks for posting these!!

And you did good without the macro. If you get more, please post them.

Very nice photos Curio :) One tip for using the macro lenses is to turn on spot-focus so you can focus primarily on the diamond and not the hand. Macro only works within a certain range and your camera manual (or experience) should let you know! Also beware camera shake. You can tell I like photography :)

Could I ask what lightning conditions you shot those photos with? That''s a gorgeous stone - and having read the other thread you posted - if Brian helped you choose I don''t think you could have gone wrong. Especially with the lovely ASET/IS images you also posted!

I hope the performance guys notice that the majority of Ellens shots highlight light reflected off a facet surface.

This is enhanced by facet definition which is lost by a. pasting brilliandeering facets b. shallow crown angles.

Now, I''ll go and read the rest of the thread.

Hi Bill, glad you popped in!

If you see this, we just recently discussed "shallow crowns". What is your definition of shallow/too shallow?

ebony, beautiful shot! And I love the simplicty of your setting.

I actually shot the majority of those without much light. The only light came from the faint glow of my computer monitor and the flash from the camera. I can''t wait to get a good photograph of this stone.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Sorry Ellen, I missed it. I apologize. I read what I can on here, but I don''t read everything.
The shallower you go, the less definition between the table/top mains and stars. So a 33 top will have less definition than a 34. A 29 will have much less than a 33.
WOW
Nice photos everyone.
Gothgrrl, Flygirl, Tina, Cehra, and EbonyK you really have alot of colors coming off of your stones. Some really cool shots.
EbonyK what do you mean by saying your stone is borderline?
Love the fire from everyone''s stones! Here''s mine............................1.62 ct J SI1.
