The LIW Small Talk Thread

awwww...BG...TOO...Ladies, ive missed you.

O nice...i love to go bowling, though im not good at it. How was your NYE?

Too-How was NYE??

I didnt get any pictures of the snow, since it didnt snow on my side of town. It only snowed on the other. It sucked. So i found a dress i love, on sale, but i dont have a date :blackeye: Im actually pretty sad. I didnt get great shots of me in it, but this si what i have...what do you think, i would need a size smaller, maybe even two, but other than that, i would only need a bustle, the sales lady said if i wear heels, it would be the perfect legnth. Im going back in a few weeks and ill get better pictures. I found a Mori Lee, but its chiffon, and makes me look puffy, i coudlnt get a picture.....

I found it at Alfread Angelo, It comes in White, Ivory, Almond and Eggshell, i love the almond color, its a corset back, and i would make it into a sweet-heart neckline....what do you think ladies.

Hi BG :wavey:

How are you doing?

I am good. How 'bout you? I only have 2 students today. Some people are still away. I am going bowling with my FI this afternoon. How are you? How's wedding planning?

Sounds like a great day!

I'm recovering. My mouth is hurting less than it had been but I still can't eat chewy/tough/hard stuff and am still using a baby tooth brush.

Wedding planning is at an absolute standstill thanks to the IRS. I've got a call to make later today that will hopefully get it started going again. The date we picked (same as you -- Jessie's b-day!) won't work (50%+ of guest list have a conflict so wouldn't be able to make it) and I'm just having trouble getting myself motivated to pick a new date. (hopefully that'll change after the phone call today... I'm not getting my hopes up again)

What I do know:
I want a new dress. I'm not happy with the one I have. (Pronovia? Sottero?)
Venue is the winery.
Vegetarian meal.
Wine served with meal & cake. NO other alcohol.
Goodie baskets for all guest who stay overnight. (I got some/all of the baskets a few weeks ago)
Orchids & candles.

My hope to haves:
Live music (for at least part of reception)
dance instructor to get people up and dancing
more dance lessons for me & FI
dance lessons for a handful of family (to promote dancing!)
wine tasting to entertain guests before wedding
day after brunch

How is your planning going?

Beautiful Jessie! I love the sparkle!

How did you feel in the dress?

Jessie -- I just got an e-mail from Alfred Angelo this morning (well... the store anyway :cheeky: )
If you go online and sign up for an online account thing you are automatically entered every month to win your dress (or 4 bridesmaids dresses!) free!

I should have listened to the advice someone gave on BIW some time back.... My poor e-mail box is going to be (okay... is already getting) swamped by huge piles of wedding stuff. I wish I had opened a separate e-mail just for wedding things.
Oh well.... At least I only have to bother with checking the one.

ETA: EEEeeeeee!!!! I HATE it when people e-mail me confirmations that I've signed up and include my password NOT encoded!
If you sign up be super careful to not use a password you use anywhere else!

I LOVED IT. It was perfect, i felt like a bride. Earlier i went and tried on dresses, and didnt feel like a bride in it. I felt like i was wearing a big puffy dress. Granted they were nice, but NOT want i wanted, and they didnt have any in my size to try on. But that dress, felt good, and right. I tried on a few before that one , at the same shop, and a few afterwards, but i went back to that one. After the sales lady put the veil on, and a tiara, i felt like a bride. Granted i didnt cry, but it felt right. Maybe i would have, if my mom were with me. But i loved it, i love the back, the front has just enough details, but not overwhelming, the only thing is i wish it had a design thingy( the rhinestones) on the back too, at least by the butt. The sales lady told me, we can always add that during alterations. But its the material i want, in a color thats not white, and i feel like im wearing the dress, not the dress wearing me.

Hmmm, im going to enter in that than...lol. Maybe ill get lucky and win my dress.

I made a seperate email account already, i didnt want to get swamped on my normal one, AND if we dont set a date for this year, than i wont be reminded about it. Silly i know. Im really hoping we can work something out and get a date for this year.My ideal date would be in sept or October.....those are our nice months, Nov we start to get cold, and Jan if freezing, and our spring is so short. C mentioned 10/11/12 as a date, :((

Men :nono:

10/11/12 is nice if you like it but... (since it sounds like you want it sooner...) you should mention that because of the date a LOT of stuff will be more expensive and will book really early. (look in BIW for different discussions of 10/10/10 brides and other dates like that)

It is beautiful on you. Simple/classic but not boring/plain. I like your idea of adding some sparklies around the back.

Try on other dresses at other stores. Wait a bit. Go back & try it on again.
(I think BG would agree! -- and I've read too many threads about second guessing "The One")

Jessie: ur dress is amazing. Corset back and sweetheart neckline are the best. I think it makes the dress very feminine. of course, try other ones. If you find yourself keep on thinking about one dress while trying on other ones... U know you have found your dress. I still feel giddy every time I think about my dress.

Too: yes... I agree...

Thanks a lot ladies. Thats what im going to do. I want to look at another bridal shop, they are bit more expensive, but have more name brands. This is the second shop i tried, and the one i like the most so far. I hate when you go into a place and want to try on one, but they dont have you size, but they are like, you can order it, and pay for it, but what if i dont like it on ya know? O well, i have plenty of time...

Well...
That was sort of productive.

I just entered to win a free wedding dress from Alfred Angelo and a couple of other places and the ones that didn't have that contest, I signed up to get info about trunk shows, sales, discounts, etc.
Also entered to win a pair of shoes.

That is productive...im all about producitivty for the day...for example...

I went to the grocery store the other day and got some coupons, along with clipping some here were my deals

2 Packages of Cat treats= 93 Cents
Tide Laundry detegerent=8 Bucks( Normally its like 10 or 12)
Bounce Laundry Sheets(100 pack)=3 Bucks
Powerades(3)=1.79
Crest Pro Health Mouthwash=2.49
Dawn Dish Soap-1.49
Secert Deodrant-1.49
Renuzit(6)=3.00
Feeling of savings=Priceless.... :D

I l ove sales.

I hate when stores put out "sale" tags and make it look like a great once-in-a-lifetime deal (or at least a rare event) and then just sell it at that price every day.

Okay..... well... I like the lower price, but it makes me not trust the other "sales" they have and leaves me wondering what a REAL sale price would be if they admitted that the "sale" price was actually the regular price.

Okay....
Fried brain. Heading home.

See you ladies tomorrow :wavey:

I know Too, i completely agree, i think thats hwy its smart to shop around. See you tommorow. Im gonna wash some clothes with my deals

Jessie that dress looks amazing on you! Good luck with the other bridal shop. Do you think your FI was serious about that date? I mean I think you'd have more than enough time to plan but it's almost 2 years away.

Thanks Adanas....i do think he was being serious, i cant wait that long, im going to give him so time before i start in on setting a date. LoL.....I LOVE that dress, i have some time before ordering it though.
What did you decide on the living conditions?

Still haven't decided. I know I don't want to live with SO before we get engaged. I'll keep looking and see if I find a place that I really life that's affordable. If not, I'll stay where I am for now.

Hi ladies!

How are you? I have been MIA as I have been away lately and also just so caught up in everything struggling with a strong cause LIW-itis.

To those LIW- how are you going with it all?

Hope everyone is well.

O wow...congrats Beezy.....means your getting money back. Anytime money comes back, its all good. Well usually. LoL...

All sounds very positive ladies :-)

I am very down at the moment. Thought the other night might have been it but we had a huge argument over the weekend and it was very clear that it won't be happening anytime soon :-( he said he wants me to have a full time job (I just completed my 5 year degree and its the holidays) which has been difficult to find and wants me to be focusing on his quote "my life and goals and it will just happen". I was so devastated it was a weekend of many tears but we worked it out today but I know I will be waiting a fair while now :-(

On a positive note I am starting a new part time job next week which would potentially be my new career!

How did/do you girls cope with strong LIW cases?

Beezy, excellent news on the money back :-)

On Saturday night BF proposed two times in my dreams (alcohol induced dreams, I might add) . I remember thinking both proposals kinda sucked (one was in frount of my family :errrr: ) and both times I woke up right after and felt my naked ring finger before realising it was a dream and falling back asleep. Conclusion: I am obsessive and crazy.

OMG - 4Ever I had a similar dream last night. We had a bit of wine, but I think mine was more a result of all the sudden forward movement lately that prompted the dream. In mine, my boss was there and kind of "introduced" my BF to the crowd and then he proposed in the middle of my work lunch room! :errrr:

Eh.... He's a man.

Pick a few dates that YOU like and ask which of those he likes best. If he doesn't like any, ask him what date HE likes.

Lots of sparkly date picking dust for you!

But we love you just as you are!
Hmm.... come to think of it "obsessive" and "crazy" may actually be requirements to be considered a LIW (or Recovering-LIW :cheeky: )

AE -- Good thinking. You've got to be comfortable and secure.

Mif -- Nice to see you around again! Can never have too many detail obsessed women around!

BG -- YAY!!!! Money back!!!
Where are you thinking for your HM?
