I would never take "Huge" as an insult! I would take it as... Well, I accomplished exactly what I wanted! LOL

Thanks Ellen, just wanted to clarify so that I wasn''t being ultra sensitive!

As it happens, I have a cocktail ring, too
2.gif
It belonged to my GM. It is a large oval opal surrounded by diamonds and covers a entire knuckle. I feel quite glamorous wearing this ring. I should be holding a long cigarette holder and wearing bright red lipstick, while drinking a martini
11.gif
Would love to see a photo!!! maybe under colored stones!!!!

Whoops! So out of it! Sorry DS!

Ok. So I leave PS for a couple hours to find out that all of you ladies are having fun... Without me!!!

So since we are very close to singing kumbaya and having cupcakes I will make my comments short.

Luvcarats, no need to apologize.... I'm a half empty kind of gal so I understand where you are coming from. Hey, you have the right to feel whichever way you want about any comments that were made. I just wanted to offer you a different perspective. Also, please let me know which "gumball machine" you got your ring from because I need to go check it out!!!! LOL. Gumball machine ring ... the nerve of some people!!!!

and Crooked hon, I was upset for you also, come on' we lived your e-ring story with you... so call me sensitive.

With that said.... Where is my un-virginized drink....????

Freke --- Glad you liked the little joke ----

Slightly off topic to cocktails...yummmmm....but would you gals consider that many movie stars have ers that look like great big delitious oversixed gumball machine cocktail rings? Many of the stars have rings that are serious eye candy. Even thinking of Elizabeth Taylors famous 30 plus carat diamond makes me think of cocktail ring!!!!
30.gif
Am I wrong in thinking that the movie stars and other famous ameous sundries are mainly wearing cocktail style rings???? Or maybe they have extra tiny finger sizes that make the rings appear giagantic?????
31.gif

Oh, sure! Celebrities wear cocktail rings all the time! They have so many formal events. I love to see the rings on the celebrity thread!

According to Oldminer, I have a dinner ring rather than a cocktail ring
38.gif
Does this mean I can''t get tipsy with the rest of you

Coati, I love your pictures...they crack me up!

Of course not, we''re equal opportunity boozers.

Which birthday ending in 0 makes a cocktail ring ''legal''? That is something to look forward to and plan for.

But if you plan to take your cocktail ring on to dinner afterwards, what do you call it? A drinking and dining ring?

Oh wow! I''ve always thought that a Cocktail is a right hand ring what ever it''s big or small amount of diamond or gem.

Lesco~ Thanks! Nice to know I'm not totally crazy. Something about it just bothered me... glad it wasn't just me though!

Arjunajane~ Don't bother... We have too much fun here to let someone who clearly doesn't understand the tone of the boards ruin it. IF someone wanted to look around they would see that many of our threads end in discussing drinks or dessert! LOL
9.gif

Oh and if there was an "in-group" you would totally be in it!

I keep seeing mention of a Vegas GTG....when is that happening?

lol, Thanks Crooked! I need to be more reserved like you guys and try not to respond to things like that -not one of my strengths IRL and clearly not in cyperspace either!

I have found PS to be welcoming and mature with All people, and I'm especially glad of the welcome they've all shown me.

Champagne Sorbet

1 bottle champagne or sparkling wine
1/4 cup sugar

*says it serves 4 but my guess is that you would really need 4 bottles to do that*

1. In a shallow metal bowl or pan, stir together champagne or sparkling wine and the sugar. Cover tightly with plastic wrap or aluminum foil and place in freezer. Freeze, whisking every 30 minutes, until the mixture becomes firm and granular, about 4 hours.

2. Once the mixture is granular, transfer it to a food processor or blender and process to break up the chunks. This will create a lighter texture.

3. Put the mixture back in the shallow bowl or pan, cover with plastic wrap or aluminum foil, and refreeze until ready to serve. For optimum flavor, the sorbet should be served within 48 hours of being prepare.

4. To serve, spoon into champagne flutes, wine glasses, or other dessert dishes.

*I recommend serving this with pie or cake wearing pretty dresses and lots of sparkle adored fingers*
