Beauty!!!

What type of camera do you use? Your pics are fantastic!

WOW
36.gif

I love the cut of that stone. Congrats on a wonderful and beautiful find.

I like the idea of taking it apart and using the gold for a band, the bags. for a band and the diamond for a ring.
9.gif

Wowie kazowie! What a find, AJ! It''s absolutely gorgeous! I can''t wait to see how you set it!

If I were you I would make the baguettes into an eternity band...either prong set or channel set. I actually really like baguettes channel set as long as the edges of metal are really thin.

Then I''d do what Grace suggested and get the gold melted down and made into a plain band.

I''m not a fan of the wedding band idea for your fiance...I really hate flashy jewelry on men, though, so I am totally biased!

That''s a GORGEOUS stone, AJ! Wow.

I would put the OEC in a James Meyer bezel, and then I''d make an eternity band out of those baguettes.

Love this idea!!!

Congratulations

It''s a beauty! And such a great ebay story!

It is stunning! I would re-list the setting on ebay. With your great pictures, you should get plenty of bids.

wow, what a great find! That is a great site, thanks for the link! The baguettes look gorgeous, Arjunajane, they would make a great addition to another project. I hope you save them, they look lovely! I am so happy for

your find, I hope you get to do something awesome with it soon!

Hey luv2sparkle,
You''re very welcome on the link - I do hope more PSers find treasures, so I get to then oogle them!
41.gif

Thanks lovey for your kind comments, it looks as if I will be keeping the bags. for now..however it will take me a lil while to decide how to set the OEC.

I have *always*, since I first joined PS been very much in love with Facetfire''s Michael Bondanza - I really like the aesthetic combo of old world stone and chunky modern setting..

Perhaps I should just be a copy cat and go for this? After all, what do they say about settings...if you love it, walk away for 2 years and if you''re still in love than get it?
ha ha, I totally made that up, but it makes sense, right?!
9.gif

I hope FF doesn''t mind me posting her drool-worthy collage, and potentially becoming a copy cat sometime in the future....

What a beautiful find!

As for using the band for a wedding band for your fiance and being concerned it is too flashy as referred to in a couple of your posts), all depends on his comfort level! Just as with e-rings, it all depends on what he individually feels comfortable with and can pull off!

While most wedding bands are a lot simpler....my DH has quite a blingy band himself with diamond and sapphire pave all across the front into a mosaic-like pattern, and he loves it - and gets a lot of compliments on it from both men and women. It fits with his personality and taste for things a little ornate and with a Middle Eastern vibe.

I think it looks GREAT on your fiances hand. It is a very masculine ring and very much makes a statement. It will likely attract attention. He may or may not be comfortable with that!

Hiya Raikai,
Cheers lovey for your kind comments.
Your observations about the mens'' wedding bands are very true - and I actually really like your DH''s choice of band. Like you said, it is quite flashy and not for all guys, but if he can pull it off and enjoys it than all the more to him
5.gif

It looks like we won''t be keeping it intact for Fi - he was very much "take it or leave it" from the start, and once we discussed what a sapphire that size would cost (to fit the ring), he decided that was a bit OTT for his lifestyle, etc..ah, boys..
But thankyou for your advice regardless, it''s nice to see guys doing something different with jewellery

GOrgeous thing! I love it.

Have another look at this pic (4th one down). Now picture it without the gold around it - would that not make a stunning setting for a ring? Just the baguette band

with the centre stone?
2.gif

Hello and thankyou Mrs M.
You know what, that was the exact same suggestion the seller made! (remove the outer YG bands and keep the inner WG one as the whole ring).
I must admit, it is a good idea and would likely make a pretty ring, at least until I figured out a permanent home..however, the ring was simply too large for this
7.gif
I was told that, especially in channel sets, 1-2 sizes is the total max., or else the stones will start dropping out...
Thankyou for the idea though, I agree with you it could be an attractive ring for sure.

CONGRATS on a fab find AJ - I know you''ve been wanting an old cut for so long now
36.gif
36.gif
36.gif

I would personally take the baggs out and use them for a matched set of bands - an eternity band for you, and a simple band with the baggs either channel set (not always my favorite look, but done well, it could be gorgeous) or scattered, for the FI.

And recycle the gold into a plain thin hammered band that you can wear on days when you dont want to wear any bling but still want a little sumthin'' on your finger. It can also serve as a stacker, or a spacer.

Aaahh, you can tell I have NOT put MUCH thought into this, right?
2.gif

31.gif

Wear in much love, great health, and tons of happiness for always!

Hello, Grace m''dear! Thanks for dropping by, and also for giving so much thought to my fun project, tee hee..
41.gif

Yes, if anyone knows it is you how much I have been pining for an old cut of a decent size, so I really couldn''t contain my excitement when I was suddenly the owner of one 5-10 years before expecting to be !
6.gif

You know what, your ideas for the bands were seriously my fave ones so far..and I did give them proper consideration
2.gif
But at the end of the day, that was going to be a hefty investment, as I''m sure you would know.

So, what is happening with the gold (along with a few other bits and pieces I don''t wear), is I have thankfully found a jeweller who is working on another project for me and can take the gold for a fair price, to off-set the cost of my project. So that works out great!
The baggs I will keeping for the time being (looking forward to seeing what they are like out of the setting),
and coming up with something fun for them in the future...Or, listing them on ebay, lol..depends..

The jeweller I was with yesterday actually had a fun idea for the baggs - do something along the lines of the Canturi "cubism collection" (not sure if you have heard of them? They are Aussie, but I think have a few stores in US).

I''ve always quite liked this look...not sure just yet how I would employ it! Maybe a coloured gemstone pendant, as some kind of deco-ish halo..
Or take a small section of the look to create a men''s band, the rest in plain gold...

Anyways, thankyou lovey for your enthusiasm, compliments and congrats - I wouldn''t have been inspired (influenced
11.gif
) without you and Erica

i really am so happy for you, this stone has found a great home!!

i have been looking for an OMC (much smaller than this one!) on ebay for ages, but can''t find a decent one under $1000
33.gif

Hey there luckynumber - thankyou for your comments
5.gif

What kind of size OMC were you after, and do you have any definite "no''s" on colour and clarity..?
I''d be happy to have a look for you when I have a minute..and do you want only OMC, or would you consider OEC too?

I do hope you find what you are looking for soon.

Also, if you''re looking for something to do with the baguettes, I''ll buy them from you!

I don''t actually have plans yet...as I posted a little earlier, I''ve always loved FF''s OEC in the Michael Bondanza setting..but that would take a bit more savings for sure..I think I will just take my time with this one, and I will know the setting when I see it - as for general plans, it will be an alternative ering.
I should have the baggs back with me in around a couple weeks or so - I will post about them again then, see what they look like nekkid

What a great find! Congratulations. Good thing the watch experience didn''t put you off ebay.

Thanks lulu! Yes, that darned watch..well, it did make me very stressed about my package in transit - and, I actually filmed myself whilst opening this box, just in case! so it definitely had an effect on me
40.gif

But no, this guy did his packaging A+++, very very secure - the guy with the watch had such sloppy packaging, which was I''m sure the cause of the problem.

Well I completely love that stone, the color is awesome-- *just* the right amount of warmth to my eye! -- and the cut looks great! It looks huge on your finger, and thought not as large as you first hoped, it is still a wonderful size! And YES copy FF and get the Bondanza. It is my all time fave setting and one day it is possible it would be mine too

i know how scary it can be getting something like this on ebay... I got my pear on ebay too and i sweated bullets until it arrived and it was what they say it was...

congrats to you!!!!!!!!

Gorgeous stone!

The baguettes could be beautiful in a band - I know Single Stone has a lot of bands like that (going length-wise, not the way they''re set now). Maybe milgrained bezels...

WOW!!!! That stone is AWESOME! I will be anxious to see how you set it...Its always sooooooo exciting to have something in the works :)

Cheers for your comments - yep, the gold is going to be recycled into another project I am working on, and the baggs..we will have to see.. I like the idea of a band too

I am thinking about the potential to use them as accents in a 3 or 5 stone style for the OEC...but not sure if it will work..I think what I actually want is bullets..like this:
