Wowie kazowie! What a find, AJ! It's absolutely gorgeous! I can't wait to see how you set it!

If I were you I would make the baguettes into an eternity band...either prong set or channel set. I actually really like baguettes channel set as long as the edges of metal are really thin.

Then I'd do what Grace suggested and get the gold melted down and made into a plain band.

I'm not a fan of the wedding band idea for your fiance...I really hate flashy jewelry on men, though, so I am totally biased!
12.gif

Hey thing!
35.gif
long time, no chat
5.gif

he he, I like your reaction - thanks for your input lovey.

Yup, gold is being melted down...but not into a band..
11.gif

And I agree with you on the ring for Fi - it isn't my style, and although I thought it looked pretty nice on him, ultimately it isn't his either..so we're on the same page there you and I!

I know!
35.gif
I need to head to CS more often so I can see you!

And you have me so intrigued! I can't wait to see what you make that gold into! (And how you set the diamond!) I'm sure both will be drool worthy!

ETA just read more and saw you're trading it in for another project. Well either way I want to see what you get! You always get the best jewelry!

Well I completely love that stone, the color is awesome-- *just* the right amount of warmth to my eye! -- and the cut looks great! It looks huge on your finger, and thought not as large as you first hoped, it is still a wonderful size! And YES copy FF and get the Bondanza. It is my all time fave setting and one day it is possible it would be mine too
4.gif

Thanks DD
5.gif
Am I correct to recall that your new upgrade is also a J VS1..?
That would be an interesting colour comparison, to have them side by side
1.gif

I do love the Bondanza..I''m having a chat to Julian at Pearlmans, who of course has been helpful as ever..
But we''ll see! I am very torn on whether to stick with a vintage / deco aesthetic on this one or no..

ah well, plenty of time to wonder!

AJ!!!!!!!

i LOVE LOVE LOVE IT!!!!

It is soooo beautiful! i am so excited for you!

i know how scary it can be getting something like this on ebay... I got my pear on ebay too and i sweated bullets until it arrived and it was what they say it was...

congrats to you!!!!!!!!

Hey Ame!! Check me out, I''m doing the cool multi-quote thingy thanks to you, ha ha
9.gif

Well, I don''t think I can compare my find to your legendary ebay pear, but it''s nice to be in good company - you''re correct, I didn''t think about much else in the time it took to get to me ! But it is nice when these things work out.

Thanks lovey

AJ it''s amazing on your hand!!

i''m looking for an OMC or OEC, around $1000, no color restrictions, but eyeclean. bigger the better :)

any help much appreciated!

Hello again Lucky...I may have something promising for you - of course, due to time difference and lurkers, I am hesitant to post it here in case you miss out..

I will find out if we can communicate through a third party - as long as you are ok with that?

let me know

5.gif

thanks AJ, i would be most happy to work through a third party if that''s possible. i know what you mean about lurkers!

it may be too late for what you already had in mind, but i''m in no rush.

ETA: I love your nailpolish in that last pic!

Hey lucky,

nope, just checked and it''s still there..
Cheers on the polish! It''s a great neutral from OPI I always fall back on..can check the colour if you like?

Hrmmm, okay let''s see...what PS vendors have you had contact/done business with or are familiar with you? (if you don''t mind)

Gorgeous stone!

The baguettes could be beautiful in a band - I know Single Stone has a lot of bands like that (going length-wise, not the way they''re set now). Maybe milgrained bezels...

Thanks princess! Yes single stone do lovely bands I completely agree.
They are also a great setting inspiration for the main stone too.
I''m looking forward btw to seeing the OEC''s you''ve been collecting set

Congratulations on finding such a great deal! Finding a great deal makes something wonderful even more enjoyable! I have really enjoyed reading through this thread and seeing your beautiful OEC and what you plan on creating out of your new treasure.

Mrs.2Artists

Mrs 2Artists!! It is so lovely to see you back and posting, I have missed your posts - how are you?!

I haven''t read all the comments but I have to say, you totally scored! If not for ebay, I wouldn''t have half the cool old cuts I have. I can''t wait to see what you do with it! The cut looks superb, a lovely classic OEC look with the nice high crown & small table. Good job! It really is a gorgeous stone.

thanks LGK! Absolutely, I must admit your wonderful old cuts and great finds have been a big inspiration in my growing love for them.
Cheers for your kind comments - I do wish I had the budget to set her now, it seems unfair for it to be sitting in a dark box

ah, cheers thing that is sweet of you to say. What I''m doing at the moment is something very different to the rest of my pieces - very detailed and ornate, I can''t wait either! But it probably won''t be here until around my b''day (July).

I had been hanging in CS a bit - but until recently I hadn''t been on PS really as much as usual..
actually, TBH it should go back that way considering the amount of work I have waiting
40.gif

Oh btw, I just discovered and purchased recently this awesome accessory off etsy - knowing the fashionista you are, you likely already know, but I thought you may be keen - NeckLush I received mine this week and love them, they are so much fun and just nice to have something different. Let me know what you think! take it easy hon!

WOW! AJ, you striked gold! (excuse the pun!) I love the look of your OEC. You are a lucky girl!

Can''t wait to see how you set it!
3.gif

AJ-that Michael Bondanza is to die for! I loved that one too! I had pearlmans send me his madison ring when I first got my last upgrade. His rings have an amazing hefty smooth feel! I even had Brian work
up a design similar but it was not close enough. I couldn''t wear my eternity with it, but darn if it doesn''t call my name! How fun for you! I am so excited for you and I can''t wait to see what you end up
doing with that gorgeous stone and those lovely baguettes! Leon could make an amazing eternity with them too!

So wonderful, it couldn''t have gone to a sweeter person!

Awesome find!!!!

What a GREAT ring - lovely stone!!!!!

The only issue with the Bondanza in my book is that it is very pricey. Being deisgner and all
2.gif

And yes, my upgrade is a J VS1 as well, 1.66ct. I am hoping that the color looks as good on a modern RB as it does on your OEC!

I do wonder whether P'man's would be open to sending me the Bondanza sample in Australia..? That would be excellent, as trust me I have looked and I cannot find anything even close!
When it comes "serious time" I will have to ask them.

thanks again!

Hey DD,
ya..it''s not *too* bad the price, after PS discount..considering it is quite thick/hefty in plat weight..but it does have relatively small tcw..I found it about average, I guess..

I haven''t popped into your upgrade thread as yet, but I''m sure you will love your new diamond, J and all!
5.gif

AJ, you have been very lucky so far. That OEC stone is yummy and it looks great on your hand. I like the idea of a single stone e-ring for your hand and some of the ideas posted are great starting points.

My suggestion: Save the bags for another project later. Don''t rush it. The time will come and you will know what to do with them.

Great find! Enjoy :-)

AJ that is an awesome find! good job finding it! the stone looks fab and the baguettes are so gorgeous!

if you are looking to unload the bags, i''ll buy them from you! Hee, i would love to make a baguette eternity out of those.

i noticed the ring you bought looks exactly like johnawesley''s ring, picture wise and specs too. you can see his ring in the men''s ring folder on page 9.

That is, indeed the ring and that is the seller..John..
Oh, I had no idea he knew about PS..
Well, John if you are reading you know how much I appreciated
doing business with you and how much I am enjoying my new diamond(s). Thanks John!!!

Thanks Milly for bringing that to my attention, and also for your comments - I will update my plans for the baguettes once they are returned to me..
Fi isn''t particularly fond of them for a men''s ring, so we''ll see

lol about your FI not being fond of the bags. my DH isn''t really into diamonds too. but yeah LMK whenever you decide on what you want to do with the bags. i am a huge fan of bags. been my dream to own a bags eternity band.

you''re right, that was his one and only post. maybe he''s a lurker. heehee, i was a lurker back in 2005. i remember those lurking days. spend hours and hours reading tons of threads but never had the courage to post.

take your time with the bags. you never know, you might want to keep them for a future project.

AJ - I''m actually contemplating making dangling earrings with my French breads - maybe you can do the same?

AJ & HJ - I might start a new thread just for you two

it will be called "what to do with left over french bread"

It is quite funny how heyjudes and I ended up both with similar size OEC''s, with leftover baguettes, from ebay, within a week of each other...

So I know they are not very new or exciting, but I thought I would just post a couple pics of the loose baguette diamonds from this ring to bring the thread 'full circle' - I received these back last week after scrapping the setting.

There are 12 in total; most of them appear to be of the same size, ~3mm, with maybe 3 or 4 slightly smaller ones thrown in..

Unfortunately, one was chipped with the damage hiding under the channel setting, and it also seems to be the biggest guy ! awww..
40.gif
However, it is just the corner and doesn't interrupt the pattern at all - so I do believe it could be re-used easily, just depending on how they were to be set.
5.gif

Got a bunch of pics, and some new-uns of the OEC too..
taking the scrap value of the gold (I ended up putting it toward a current project for a value I was v. happy with), and an estimated re-sale on the baggs, this now means my 1.55ct OEC has only ended up costing me ~$2500 - woot!
36.gif

first up, the lil guys:

DSC06978rs.JPG

showing off in the sun...

admittedly, I have not seen many loose baggs, but to me these seem nicely cut and reasonably matched; they certainly are nicely dispersive and fiery in the sun for such lil guys..
If I had to guess at colour I would agree with the appraisal - maybe G instead of the reported F, and VS1. I louped each one and couldn''t find any inclusion bar the chipped stone - I''ll call him chipsy
