I don''t wear shorts or short skirts, but I do wear cleavage revealing tops (although this is because I hate tight fitting clothes at my neck and I''m large chested). DH doesn''t show chest or back publicly. When we go to the beach, I wear a tankini with a skirt and feel naked the whole time, DH wears a sleeveless shirt with his trunks. We do not watch movies with any nudity or any cable programming with nudity. I''m not fond of the lingerie scenes, but as long as Possible and the Girls are covered, I''ll watch it.

We do believe the body is sacred and not for public approval or viewing. While it may seem outdated to some, it''s the way we live and what we''re comfortable with. I am soon to be 30 and DH is 31, we''ve been married for 10 years and this has always been our lifestyle. We''ve gotten plenty of flack about it, more I''d say than those who are very open about nudity.

Both of my sisters and my mom show lots more of their bodies and have no problem with nudity so it''s definitely not something I was raised with, it''s just the way I am.

As long as the people look decent, I don''t care how much (as long as the private areas are covered) that other people show publicly.

Great to hear there is someone else out there. Do your friends respect your choice or do they insist on watching movies with nudity when you are around?

As for shows with nudity. You know in the beginning when they show the "warning" with all the M=Mature, N=Nudity, NC17, etc.... DH will yell out, "NUDITY!!" if it comes up. I swear that is his favorite part of True Blood and Nip/Tuck.

Nope, not outdated! There are plenty of people on this planet that agree with you about dressing modestly and refraining from watching anything containing nudity. Many (not all, of course) of them are religious, and many would take issue with you showing certain parts of your body at all to your SO since you aren''t married.

My friends do respect my choices, but I also get a lot of haranguing about it. One of my friends greatly enjoys reading Playboy with her DH and thinks it would be fun for us too.
20.gif
Another friend shouts "nudity" in a chant before they watch a hot movie. For the most part, my friends don''t "get it" but they respect it.

I will add something though. People seem to associate the acceptance of nudity to mean that you have great sex and vice-versa. It''s not true. I think because we only show our bodies to each other and we don''t see other bodies, it''s hotter. There''s nothing to compare the other to. They are perfection! We have lots of fun accessories too and my "toy" parties are always a good time. The refusal to see nudity doesn''t mean it''s a refusal to be fun and outgoing and experimental.

I definitely do nudity around the house. What? I''m pregnant, hot, and on bed-rest. Why attempt to get dressed? Haha

DH and I also watch movies with nudity. And sometimes movies that are exclusively nude
2.gif
Hehe.

But, in public, it''s a different story. I don''t wear skirts that are too short, am not really a fan of shorts, and really have to watch my top half because big jugs can look slutty real quickly.

What makes me feel sexy is that, when I do get dressed and before I was pregnant, I always wear really nice, matching underwear sets. Old-fashioned garters and thigh-high stockings, lots of soft lace, etc. Undergarments really help with the overall look of clothes and they can make you feel naughty too :-)

I tend to find that men find me most attractive when I look, what I call, smart. Wide-legged slacks, a fitted button down that plays with my curves without showing them ostentatiously, a good purse, and most of all, confidence.

I hate some of the crap that young girls are wearing today. They look like hookers.

I should mention that we have a 110" screen with High Def projector. People are lifesize (or larger in some cases) and very real looking.
B has made the comment on nature shows that the picture is so good it is like being there.

What prompted the absolutely no nudity rule was the movies coming out of Hollywood that had prolonged scenes in the bedroom. A split second of partial breast as a woman changed shirts was one thing. But watching life size people doing stuff right in front of us was just too far. You could see every detail (and I mean EVERY DETAIL -- nose hairs, chicken necks, veins in legs, wobbly arms, dimples).

For the record, I dress very conservatively.... I guess there is a time and a place for everything? At home, I have no problem with nudity. In public, I'm very much jeans and a t-shirt... and rarely do you see my cleavage! I don't wear short skirts, or shorts.

I do wear bikinis at the beach, but my bum is fully covered.

I agree with this wholeheartedly (except for the preggo stuff - not pregnant here). Less is more - in this case, more clothes is more. I see some teens dressing craaaaazy! How do their parents let them out of the house half naked?! What''s worse is the grown men who stare them down like prey - it creeps me out.

I''m the same. Nudity doesn''t bother me at all-I personally wouldn''t walk around in a short skirt or a bikini but it doesn''t bother me if someone else does. Plus my fave programme is SATC so I don''t know what I''d do without it.

They just don''t know what they are missing. Their loss.

We certainly have plenty of great times together. (usually once a day -- sometimes more)

I didn''t say we covered up at home....
And my underwear are totally different than my conservative outerwear. But only B gets to see that.

TGal, your approach sounds a lot like what my parents did, and maybe I''m biased, but I think it worked very well.
28.gif

I''m more conservative than some and more liberal than some. I think it''s certain activities that are special and should only be shared with an important partner than certain body parts. I actually feel more comfortable at topless beaches than at American beaches (I find it rather tedious to keep checking to make sure my top is on right and not revealing anything), but I don''t do one night stands because I think that kind of activity should be saved for serious relationships with deep emotional bonds.

I think many younger women don''t really realize that "more is more" when it comes to clothing. I know I made this mistake when I was younger, especially the first year or so in college when I suddenly had no parents watching what I wore. It took a little while for me to see that truly stylish women don''t dress like ladies of the night. Now I dress much more conservatively, but I still wear bikinis and tank tops and shorts when it is appropriate.

+1! I think a little bit of tastefully exposed back is WAY sexier than an exposed front. Sexy is leaving things up to the imagination - the anticipation is fun!

There are at least two people in this thread that clearly associate nudity with sex. The irony is that it isn''t the people who are going around nude
9.gif

That''s fine if that''s what works for you and you think it makes things more "special". For a lot of people the body is just a beautiful thing to look at and nothing to be ashamed of. For them nudity does not mean sex. It means natural, as we were made, not covered up. No more, no less.

Interesting...don''t take this the wrong way, TP, because I swear I''m not trying to be mean, but how does living with (and having sex with) a man you''re not married to play into your conservative values? Just seems like an odd juxtaposition.

As far as clothing goes, I''m not the kind of woman who shows a ton of skin on a day to day basis...or really ever. That''s definitely not my style. I keep this bangin'' body under wraps!
3.gif
I don''t have a problem with nudity in general, though, and have gone topless at the beaches in France, etc. And I do wear a relatively little bikini to the beach.

My husband is definitely not the kind of guy who walks around outside shirtless or wears wifebeaters in public. Hahaha the very idea of being married to someone who wears wifebeaters in public grosses me out, but not for reasons of modesty!

This is just what I was thinking. Interesting.

As for me, I believe in dressing one''s age. I suppose that means different things to different people, but let''s just say that leaving more to the imagination than not, and not acting as a walking billboard for the latest trendy designer names is a part of it, in my opinion.

As for the beach, I wear bikinis when I''m in shape and I don''t really see anything wrong with that. I didn''t know it is legal to walk around a store in a bikini, we don''t see any of that here in Chicago!

And can someone please tell me how a *man* can dress inappropriately in public? Do men walk around shirtless in some places? I''ve never seen that, ever.

I believe, as others have stated, in being "age appropriate". I''m 26 now...my daisy duke days are long gone. So are my low cut tops and too-short mini skirts.

However, nudity doesn''t offend me at all. I''m blase about it. It''s part of life, right? I don''t feel that my marriage is "compromised" or "less special" because we have watched a show with breasts in it...it''s no big deal. My husbands body is still beyond on compare because he''s my man...no matter how much men-junk I see.

I absolutely associate nudity with sex. It''s odd to me that so many don''t. Yes, I can admire the human form in a tasteful manner. Meaning, not watching someone get it on in a movie, but admiring David instead. Walking around with your bum hanging out is WANTING the SEXUAL attention.

I have no problem with a bikini on a beach because that''s what''s appropriate, I just wouldn''t wear one myself.

And, HAVEN, yes, men do walk around shirtless around here. My dad is a leading culprit. He also wears shorts that don''t quite cover the nads on a hot day.
32.gif

I personally do not walk around nakee even in my own house. Not because there is anything wrong with it, but simply because I don''t want to give anyone outside a show and when I hold my cats I don''t want a stray nail getting caught...

That said, there are many people that I see dress what I would consider inappropriately. Men ande women. Women with the low cut shirts and short bottoms. Men wear sleeveless shirts or no shirts. Luckily the 80''s are over and they aren''t walking around in tiny cutoff shorts anymore.

We watch nudity in movies and TV. I personally don''t prefer it. It makes me feel like a peeping tom, but if it is relative to the plot then I sit through it.

I believe that my nude body is for my husband. Even scantily dressed is for his eyes only.

My husband actually thinks I am more sexy when I am dressed up. He said that I am hot when I am dressed looking professional and business like. He says that turns him on. I don''t need to walk around in tiny clothes to make him hum. Just goes to show that nudity or close to it isn''t always the most attractive.

I don''t have anything against bathing suits really. The only issue I have with them is how some women wear them. Super tiny with the intention of drawing attention. Even those are fine in the right location (beach, swimming pool).
I DO have something against skimpy bikinis worn to walk around town. Just saw one a couple of weeks ago. 20 something blonde wandering around outside of the grocery store in a tiny bikini. No purpose. Just wearing it. (and no, she wasn''t trying to get sun)

I just think that nudity is natural and no big deal. I would much rather see nudity in a movie than violence. We were all born naked, after all. And I prefer to see living human beings, flaws and all, rather than an idealized version of what a man should look like. We are how we are, and that's fantastic.

I do respect people who want to keep it special and private (I'm not a fan of the bum-out-of-the-shorts look, either), I just think there are a greater number of acceptable places to walk around naked or nearly naked.
